Andalucian style Country House in Arcos de la Frontera, Cadiz Province, Spain - Rural Location, Surrounded By Gardens And Olive Groves

Finca Mascaharina is a beautiful private country house surrounded by gardens and terraces, and set amongst ancient olive, almond and fruit trees. From the large private pool and the covered tower, there are wonderful views across the valley and to the sunset behind the white village of Arcos de la Frontera. The house has been lovingly restored in a typical Andalucian style with large open plan kitchen & dining room, and large reception. The main house has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and in the adjoining annex there are 2 further bedrooms and a bathroom. There is an open fire and a wood burner for cosy winter evenings, Bose music system, and wireless internet. This is a great base from which to explore Andalucía; the mountains, (Sierra de Grazalema National Park-30 minutes) the wonderful Atlantic Coast, (50 minutes), 5 minutes from the Arcos village and International Golf Course. Jerez Airport (25 minutes). There are also good flight connections to Seville, Cadiz and Malaga.

Notes on accommodation: This province is a favourite destination for sun-seeking travelers with an average of over 320 days of sun a year. There is a gardener who takes care of the plants and lawn. The house is suitable for children; we provide cot, high chair, etc. The pool area and the tower have gates now as we have small kids, though they must be always supervised. There are steps going down from the terrace to the pool area and to the tower. Well behaved pets are allowed. Outside: 4 hectare country property with Private pool (9m x 5m) and hammocks set amongst lawns and mature trees. Tower with seating for 10 and amazing views of the sunset. For leisurely lunches and dinners there is a terrace with a large rustic large table under the shade of a vine covered pergola & surrounded by gardens with flowering trees, creeping ivy and bright bougainvillas. Barbecue. Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, iron, clothes airer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. There is no extra cost for cleaning (once a week) and a gardener. Other: Large kitchen dining room with antique table for 12. Open fire. Many terraces for shade and sun.

Amazing property & location

A beautiful house in a fabulous setting

Rory and Carmina have a beautiful home near Arcos and it felt great to feel so much at home there. There are also lots of generous homely touches like well-stocked cupboards and some food and wine (and beer!) in the fridge to tide us over the Saturday night we arrived. The tower is a work of genius, with perfect views of sunset over Arcos and even the odd glimpse of the elusive Hoopoe. A really top-end place to stay, thoroughly recommended.

We love this place!

We’ve stayed at Rory’s home now for two consecutive summers and it is just perfect in every way. It is in an idyllic location and totally private but yet really convenient for trips out to Jerez, Seville and the beach. The house is very rustic and immaculately clean and the kitchen is really well equipped – my other half is a real ‘foodie’ so we’ve had some fantastic meals out on the terrace under the shade of the pergola. The separate annexe was great for our teens to have their own space away from us and they made great use of the hammock in the shade. The pool area and gardens are beautifully maintained and the view from the tower (with a G&T!) is spectacular, across to the hill town of Arcos, particularly as the sun sets. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Location

Special interest holidays:

Horse riding and walking.

Coast/Beach:

The beautiful Atlantic beaches - the Costa de la Luz, are approx 50 minutes drive away and have good facilities and plenty of cafes and bars.

60 mins drive to La Barrosa ideal for windsurfing and other water sports. Arcos also has a lake within 5 mins drive of the hous which has facilities for sailing, canooing and fishing.

Travel:

Jerez Airport - 25 minutes

Seville Airport – 1 hour

Malaga Airport - 2 hours

Gibraltar airports - 75 minutes

The use of a car is required to visit the area. In Jerez airport you can find reasonably priced rental car companies.

Distances:

The beautiful old white Village of Arcos de la Frontera - 5 minutes drive.

Jerez - 30 minutes away.

Cadiz - 40 minutes drive.

Sevilla - 1 hour drive.

Nearest Beaches - Cadiz, Chicana. 50 minutes away.

Puerto de Santa Maria - 40 minutes drive.

Donana National Park - 40 minutes away (boat trip available).

Sierra de Grazalema National Park - 30 minutes away.

Further Details:

The centre of Arcos and the surrounding streets are full of taverns, excellent tapas bars and restaurants where one can savour local dishes and, especially, local wine. There are plenty of shops, local markets, banks etc. You can find concerts and all forms of entertainment and of course Flamenco Shows. The Lago de Arcos (Arcos Lake) is a good place for water sports, such as, rowing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing and motor boating. Fishing enthusiasts have one of the best facilities and throughout the year there are many regional and national competitions. The wonderful colourful, historic, and cultural cities of Cadiz and Seville are a must to visit. Also you can participate in activities such as visits to the white villages, sherry bodegas, a round of golf, and bike rides through the "Via Verde".
