About the property

Trullo Villa near Alberobello - Midpoint Between Beautiful Alberobello And Locorotondo & 30 Minutes From The Adriatic

Our trullo is named the Little Wood, and nestles in countryside between Alberobello, which is the centre of the Trullo world, and Locorotondo, another lovely little Italian town. Little Wood is ideally located for many of the tourist attractions in Puglia, such as Lecce, Martina Franca and Otranto - of course the Adriatic is just a 30 minute drive away. The real beauty of our home is the tranquility - set in countryside as it is, it is a million miles away from all the hustle and bustle we encounter in our working lives. When you explore the land, you'll find the vineyard, masses of olive trees, and a mixture of additional trees - apricot, plum, passion fruit, walnut, fig and so on. If anyone in the party is particularly tired, then just use the hammock under the fir trees by the house, and listen to the breeze gently whistling through the fir trees!

About Gary Sullivan

My wife and I have sought to create something a little special at our 'Little Wood'. Everyone that has visited our little trullo always comes away feeling that they have shared something a little special.

We love being their ourselves, and hate coming away, and sometime we'll retire there, until we do, we're happy to 'share with you!'.

Gary Sullivan purchased this villa in 2005

Why Gary Sullivan chose Locorotondo

We love Italy, and everything about it - tranquility, the beauty of the architecture, il vino, il sole, il mare...what else can I say?!

If you hate the rat race, and want to experience the direct opposite, then just go and take a couple of weeks at our Little Wood.

What makes this villa unique

You will struggle to find another trullo with similar gardens, a small vineyard, all the trees, and the sheer tranquility of the place.

The Little Wood isn't the only trullo available, and it isn't the biggest, we just happen to think it's the prettiest, and when you add the tranquility, then we feel that there is something special to be shared.

The Little Wood is a great base to enable you to explore the local area, visit the Adriatic and so on - of course when you've done enough touring you can just head back 'home' and chill out by the pool.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We have been renting the Little Wood for around 5 years, and all the guests have loved the place. The comment we most often receive is that once guests arrive, they struggle to drag themselves away from the sheer pleasure of the Little Wood - you have been warned!

Notes on accommodation: As a trullo, the Little Wood has lots of character, being built in natural stone, with those conical roofs which are peculiar to this type of architecture. Outside you will find a very large patio, huge gazebo, and masses of sitting space. The gardens are a 'bit special'...thanks to Jonathan, and bring the whole place to life. Being set in countryside, with its own little vineyard, olive trees and fruit trees, there is always something new to discover. Outside: Adjacent to the trullo, there is a large patio, which table and chairs - ideal for breakfast in the morning. Beyond the pool, there is a large lawn area, with sun beds, and a large shade sail, for those that appreciate a little bit of shade. The pool is a good size, being 13 metres by 6.5 metres - steps lead into pool at the shallow end. The water is 2 metres deep at the other end, with steps to enable you to exit at that end of the pool if you wish. Adjacent to the pool is the very large gazebo, with masses of seating space, and the essential barbeque - just what you need for those special barbecue evenings by the pool. There's lots of lighting outside, LED lights set into the patio, lights in the pool (come on automatically in the evening), wall lights around the trullo, and separate self standing lights just to add a little extra character. There is 10,000 square metres of land in total, with all the trees, the vineyard, the fir trees and so on - there's simply masses to explore. Utility Room: Located in main bathroom, automatic washing machine, ironing board etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towel and linen is provided, other than beach towels. The trullo is cleaned each week, and all linen is changed as part of the changeover cycle. Other: Wifi available inside and outside property - no connection charges.

average rating of 5.0 based on 2 reviews

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely stunning, pool and gardens beautiful.. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs available which we enjoyed using. The trullo was more than adequately equipped, and immaculate. Gary the owner was only a phone call away, to assist with any queries or problems, and Catrine who lives locally who met us on arrival, was able to give us information about the area, shops, restaurants etc.. Loved our week there, and will definitely be back!!
