Villa Alais is a luxury modern and well positioned three bedroom property. The villa enjoys breathtaking views of Collioure,the Mediterranean Sea, surrounding hills with castles and ancient vineyards.

The property is situated in a row of four modern villas, slightly apart from a small development of villas and apartments with a communal pool only two minutes away. As you look out of the back window, you will see a private park area with evergreens and olive trees. The park backs onto the vineyard upon which the complex was build in 2010 and where visitors can go wine tasting and return to our property in less than three minute walk with fine wine.

The eleventh century city of Collioure and it's many beaches, restaurants, bars and art galleries is only a fifteen minute walk down one of a number of routes either taking you past a Napoleonic fort, painted houses, archways leading to the twice weekly market or the bakers with the daily supply of bread on one side of the city or wind around another roadside path to the other side of the city made famous by the Matisse and his fellow Impressionist painters.

The villa enjoys sea views from the ground floor terrace with a partial view and the upstairs balcony which runs across the front of the property and enjoys a panoramic view of the City and Bay of Collioure, the Mediterranean Sea and hill top castles and fortifications which have stood guard for a millennium.

The villa is build and furnished to a very high standard. The property is made-up of a master double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, double bedroom, twin bedroom, family bathroom and downstairs clock room with toilet and sink. Both double bedrooms enjoy a shared balcony and views of Collioure and the Mediterranean Sea. Furthermore, the villa will have central heating in all three bedrooms for the Summer 2017 season.

The downstairs area is open plan with kitchen, dinning and living area and furnished to a high standard with local artists paintings. The large front terrace doubles the size of the living area. This outside area enjoys a partial view of the sea and castles on either side on the hills surrounding Collioure. This area is furnished with a table and six chairs, umbrella and sunbeds. There are mature grapevines and climbers providing shade.

The property is set in its own private landscaped garden with a rosemary and lavender rockery. There are lemon, fig and olive trees providing natural shade. There is a large raised decking area and shaded terrace. The rear garden is well hidden with a screen of high bamboo plants. In addition, there is a large BBQ and outside kitchen.

The villa shares a swimming pool (1st June - 30 Sept) with private access, showers and changing room facilities. The villa is located only 15 minutes walk away from Collioure's award winning beaches, colourful markets, art galleries and many restaurants.

About Kim Hawkins

We have had a love affair with France for the last 20 years visiting many different areas with our then young family. Twelve years ago we were fortunate enough to buy an old farmhouse in the Dordogne department, which was in a small hamlet 20 minutes from the historical town of Sarlat.

2010 finds us much further south in the Catalan region of France, an area of rich culture, heavy on the arts and if you are interested in this it doesn't get much better than here!

Ceret, a hangout for for Picasso! Collioure for Matisse and Derain! We spend much of our time trawling through galleries,and visiting exhibitions and have bought local art for our new home.

It was the charming ambiance of Collioure that drew us

to this area, it has it all. Plus we have a vineyard behind our house!

You have any ways to find us. Collioure is very accessible by air, road and train, The region is served by a number of low cost airlines operating out of more than seven regional airports. In addition, Collioure can easily be reached by train, with high speed trains from Paris and Barcelona to Perpignan. You can then jump on a local train and take advantage of the regular €1 bus service to Collioure. Some people even arrive in Collioure by sea from other destinations along the coast. It's all your choice...

What makes this villa unique

We are within walking distance of all amenities and you only need a car to explore the historical Catalan region in both sides of the French and Spanish borders.

We have outstanding views of the sea and the surrounding vineyards, castles and medieval fortifications. As you sit on the ground floor terrace and upstairs balconies you can witness the world go. You will hear the church bells chiming the passing of the time and hours and see the comings and goings in the harbour and the fishing boats and yachts sailing around the bay.

All together it is quite magical and it is waiting for you and your families to discover!

Perfect Family Get-a-way

We had a fantastic family holiday this summer in Collioure, and with this property as our base we really couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The description of the property was spot on, and the photographs don't do it justice. The downstairs living area was very spacious, and with the great outside balcony we were able to have a generous area to socialise and eat in. The property was furnished and decorated to a high standard and we loved the local art work that was featured throughout.

One of the highlights was setting the alarm in the morning (yes, I did set my alarm while on holiday!) just to make sure that we saw the sunrise over the ocean, what a great way to start the day!

The walk to the boulangerie is a 1km easy walk down the hill into town, and the push on the way back up the hill meant we didn't feel guilty for enjoying our croissants and pain au chocolat! There are numerous beaches to choose from in the town, the children enjoyed the sandy beach with the facilities to hire pedaloes and canoes. The snack bar there is reasonably priced for drinks, snacks and lunch.

There are various walks to do from the villa, to the forts and the windmill, all you need is a pair of trainers and some water to keep hydrated.

We visited during the festival and enjoyed all the attractions on offer.

We had excellent communication and service from Kim in the lead up to our stay and Gavin was helpful and prompt when we needed him for a minor issue in the property.

WOW! What a view!

What a fantastic property! Had everything we could need in the most stunning location! Perfectly situated for easy access from the main routes if arriving by car or from the station if arriving by train. Kim, the owner, could not have been more helpful and responded almost immediately to any requests and questions! THANK YOU Kim! The house itself is beautifully maintained and equipped. The front terrace is fantastic for eating out under the vine with the grapes ripening and the sun loungers were so comfortable for reading a book whilst soaking up some sun. The terrace at the back with its sun loungers was wonderful for catching the afternoon/evening sun. As for the balcony - WOW! The view is second to none and a highlight for me was sitting out there in the early morning watching the sun rise over the sea (as well as watching the most amazing electrical storm in the clouds out to sea one night whilst the stars twinkled over us). A lovely downhill walk into town and a not too arduous one back up, either through the car park or around over the bridge. Our favourite beach within town is the one by the chapel - Plage St Vincent. More than enough to do within town with kayak and boat hire, dive school, beaches, shopping, galleries, etc. So many restaurants to choose from and having drinks on the seafront in early evening as the sun went down was perfect! Very impressed with being remembered by name by the staff at the Restaurant de San Vicens after visiting last year and the food (especially the Salade de San Vicens and the duck breast) was superb! Great walk up to the windmill and castle. Visited the Chateau Royale last year and fantastic value for 4 euros! All four boys (age range from 18 to 23) loved going down into town in the evenings and also to see a band they knew at the town's nightclub. Our only long trip out was to FC Barcelona Camp Nuo (about 2 hours drive) which was fantastic (and I do NOT like football)! Well worth a visit! Did not use the pool as much this year as last but wonderful for cooling off in the afternoon before walking back into town for drinks/meal/ice cream. The highlight was being there for the Fete de Saint Vincent with the best firework display, watched from up by the Neptune Restaurant, any of us had ever seen - even better than those over the London Eye apparently! Well done Collioure - we WILL be back!

Stunning Views

Great accommodation, well kept with good facilities. The front terrace provides a wonderful outdoor space to eat with stunning views over Collioure. Everything was clean and exactly as detailed. We would have appreciated full WI-FI though. Collioure is a beautiful place and we were fortunate to stay during the festival with lots of live entertainment and impressive fire works display. The walk into town is easy and the uphill walk back was not too much for our 5 year old daughter either. Great location if you want to be near the town but able to get in and out without being stuck in the centre of town congestion. We would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely wonderful

This was the third occasion we have stayed in this property and it continues to excel. The facilities are very accurately described in the listing and continue to be improved on each visit. For example, the wifi and tv had been upgraded this time. On this occasion we had our two grand daughters (age 6 & 8) and their Mum & Dad with us for the first week. They loved it especially the space, location, views and the access to the pool. The quality of the house and its location spectacularly overlooking Collioure with such easy access to the centre of the town, itself full of places to eat and interesting shops to browse, makes this property the best we have had in many years of visiting France. We would have no hesitation in giving the property our highest recommendation. Collioure is a joy to explore while the property is an ideal base to visit beaches or to spend a day adventuring into the mountains.
