We have just returned from Stonewell House, we had a hen party there which was amazing. The owners organised various events for us such as our own in house chef - an Italian chap and the food was to die for! we had cocktail making class which was great fun, but the best part of the weekend as the be a fabulous house itself it is simply stunning in every detail. Thank you so much for making our weekend away so special

Fantastic House & Location

What a beautiful property Stonewell House is, everything about this house is quality throughout.

we were a group of ladies all celebrating my daughters hen party and we could not have picked a nicer place as a venue for this. We used Celebration Cottages who i believe own the property to organise everything for us - like the chefs 3 course meal which was to die for and the cocktail class which again was absolutely brilliant, everything was very easy to book and the owners were simply fantastic, bending over backwards to help us make the weekend flawless for my daughters special weekend

we all loved the large bedrooms and open plan kitchen diner where 18 of us could easily all eat together and spend time chilling out and dancing!

the hot tub was amazing too we managed to squeeze 12 of us in there!

The property was also spotlessly clean and i could tell that the owners are very proud of this property and rightly so.

i would definitely recommend Stonewell House and Celebration Cottages to anyone wanting to book a large property for a special celebration event like this

Beautiful place

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed in, an absolute treat for our 2 families and grandchildren. The location is also fabulous with views over the hills and surrounding countryside.

We enjoyed the house so much we didn't really want to venture out anywhere

the owners made it very easy to book with them and were very friendly and on hand for any help or advice we needed during out stay

We would love to return again for another family occasion in the future like this one

Unproffesional last minute cancellation.

I am absolutely appalled with the way Andrew handled our booking. After booking the house months in advance to celebrate a hen do, we were contacted by Andrew 3 days before the event, cancelling our booking and leaving us without a venue.

We were told the booking had been cancelled as we are a mixed group, and because there were males in attendance, this wasn’t a “hen do”

I feel that we were discriminated against due to the sexual orientation of the males in our group, which wasn’t disclosed when booking the house, as in 2016 we did not think this would happen!

We were told our hen party wasn’t in fact, a hen party, and the whole situation was dealt with rudely and abruptly by Andrew.

He told us he would refund our money, however didn’t do that until the next day. As you can imagine it was extremely difficult finding an alternative house for Easter weekend and incredibly last minute, and so to not transfer our money immediately upon cancellation simply made our situation even worse.

We were most upset to be left without a house 3 days before our party, and to be told our booking was cancelled over email we found most distressing and unprofessional.

Would not recommend!

Owner's Response: We are always sorry when we have to cancel a booking, but it must made clear that the party leader who booked this property did not disclose the fact that it was to be a mixed young group when she booked with us. She opted to keep this from us until the very last minute when we quizzed her as to why she hadn't filled in the details on the booking form asking for ages and how many males and females were to be in attendance. As it turned out once we pressed her for this information it was to be a very young mixed group of boys and girls which we simply do not allow owing to issues we have had previously- yet she said at the time of booking that it was to be a hen party which wasn't the case at all so i am afraid this person only has herself to blame for not being totally upfront with us at the time of booking. We have had many parties where mature ladies and men are in attendance and we never would restrict this kind of booking regardless of sexuality. This person was refunded immediately we informed her that the booking couldn't proceed -within a few minutes in fact by bank transfer and left our bank account straightaway

The house was amazing. Great facilities and a beautiful location. The whole group of 16 were very happy with the whole experience. We would highly recommend the property!

Stonewell House - Absolutely Stunning

I have just come back from a 2 night stay at Stonewell House in Holmfirth. I booked the house along with 11 other girls for a friend's hen do and although we expected it to be nice and big, we had no idea how stunning the house would be. When I opened the double doors to the kitchen I literally stepped back and thought wow! The other girls did the same once they arrived too. The kitchen is definitely my favourite room and is so big and modern and also had lots of room for us all to sit around the table together. It's the perfect kitchen to host in. The bedrooms are all beautiful and very large. I was in the Master Bedroom on the top floor which is particularly stunning and the adjoining en suite with wet room is lovely too. I can't express how perfectly this house is finished off and of course the hot tub outside is an extra bonus. We found this house through the website and communicated with the owner by email and he was extremely quick at getting back to us at all times with any information we required and could not have helped more. I would 100% recommend this house and would definitely love to stay here again in the future. It really was what I and the other girls would describe as "your dream home."

Stonewell House

We visited this house as part of a girly weekend away, there was 12 of us in total. This property is amazing, the kitchen and dining area is very spacious and modern with all the cutlery, glasses and utensils you need. Outside there is a lovely seating area and hot tub. The bedrooms are spacious and really well decorated. The master bedroom and bathroom with wet room went down very well with the girls. The house is very well kept and the owners take pride in their accommodation. The house is very close to the town, I would say a 10 minute walk, walking back is up hill so a little tiring but from the village we got a taxi back around midnight for only £5. Lovely walk though to the village as you can see the views and all the lovely houses dotted about. The communication from the owner Andrew was very good as well, extremely helpful. In addition their other property Oaklands, appears to have a spa retreat attached to it so if you wanted treatments its right next door to the house.

Holmfirth is a beautiful part of Yorkshire, a hidden gem, the area boasts some of the most lovely scenery in the country and the walks and cycle paths are perfect for our family to get out and about with our 2 dogs. My husband is also a keen runner so he is blessed with some of the most challenging off road paths and tracks to run along. We came here to bring our family up in what is an idyllic area for children to live in, we bought Oaklands in 2000 and lived in it happily for over 10 years and then had Stonewell House built in the garden of Oaklands, which we now also rent out as a holiday let. Holmfirth is very rural but also is a very vibrant, bustling market town also where you can get everything you need without having to go to a big city.

Activity and Interests

Bike hire and bike tours can be arranged direct from the owners, guided walks and running tours also available. Massages - can be arranged.


The Seaside town of Scarborough on the east coast takes about 1.5 hrs drive and the west coast seaside towns of Blackpool and N.Wales take about 1hr 20 mins drive.


Manchester airport 30 mins. Leeds Bradford 50 mins.


5 mins walk to Holmfirth Village. Holmfirth is a busy Market village, where there are a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, win bars, ice cream parlours. Holmfirth even has its own pictures, and swimming baths.

Metrodome - water park, cannon hall farm, national coal mining museum, ice skating, Meadowhall and Trafford centre shopping, all within 5 - 30 mins drive.

Further Details:

Plenty of supermarkets, banks etc in the local area. Swimming, rock climbing, paint balling, go - carting, pottery painting, clay pigeon shooting, animal petting farms, adventure playgrounds, parks, bike hire and tours, horse riding, golf, museums. Many beautiful walks right from your doorstep, local reservoirs - a must to walk round. All within 5-30 mins drive. Perfect location!
