Sefton House is a self catering property centrally located in the coastal village of Alnmouth in Northumberland. Under new ownership we are investing in the property to ensure the decor and furnishings are to an extremely high standard, with fresh colours.We have seven bedrooms ranging from singles to luxurious double's with a total of five bathrooms. The house is pet friendly with an enclosed back yard. Alnmouth is a small picturesque village with a variety of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and gift shops. With a large variety of activities on the door step including; golf, surfing, boating, walking, cycling, fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island and The Farne Islands.

About Alison Stephens

I am excited to have bought Sefton House in Alnmouth, as my family and I love the area. We feel this is a little undiscovered gem of a location on the Northumberland coast. I have been bringing my family here for years and we love walking (and playing) on the beaches, that never seem busy regardless of what time of year you come. I fell for Alnmouth and the area one summer as we drove up the coastal route and this beautiful, coloured village appeared on our horizon.

I grew up in Yorkshire and have returned after many years in the south. The fact I can be in Alnmouth in 90 minutes on the train makes this a perfect location.

Why Alison Stephens chose Alnmouth

The main reason I decided to buy in Alnmouth was the initial view you get when driving from Warkworth, north, along the coastal route. You come across a brightly painted village that feels undiscovered and undisturbed.

The area is very accessible via car (Just off the A1) or train (both the Virgin East Coast and the Cross Country tramlines stop in Alnmouth) but you feel as though you may have stepped back in time.

The property has great space fro family or social groups who want to spend time away together and has all the equipment you need for a hassle-free stay!

What makes this house unique

Sefton House is a luxury town house in the coastal village of Alnmouth Northumberland. It provides accommodation for up to 14 people on holidays and family occasions. A hamper of local treats will be waiting for you upon arrival, giving you a sample of the produce you can buy within Alnmouth and the surrounding area.

I aim to offer you a luxury stay in Alnmouth, a stone's throw from amazing beaches, great golf courses, fantastic walking and cycling routes, with local hospitality in the numerous pubs, restaurants and shops just at the end of the road.

The property is managed by locally so there is always someone on hand if you need any help or advice.

"The bedroom was decorated in such a lovely way and had its little quirks. We even had hot water bottles in the wardrobes incase we got cold. I'm very fussy with beds and bedding and often struggle to sleep in hotels but I was very impressed. The beds were very comfy and I didnt want to get up in the mornings because the bedding was so lush. The extra fluffy blankets were a nice touch too.

The bathroom was even more impressive than the bedroom. For a start it was huge with both a free standing bath and seperate shower and all the other things in there just added to its character... I could go on but then I'd ruin the other lovely things you'll find for yourself and want to rave about."

Lovely well equipped house in excellent location.

Fantastic spacious property for a group of 12 cyclists

The property was spacious enough, with enough bathroooms for our cycling group plus the secure rear yard was great for storing bikes! Highly recommend... the only downside was that that thermostat on the shower in room 2 didn’t work & needs some attention!

Winter weekend with friends

12 of us spent a very happy weekend in this lovely house. The accommodation was very comfortable - great beds - and provided the perfect base for our walking and talking holiday. The weather was freezing but we were cosy with the log fire backing up the central heating. Endless hot water for showers and a great dining table for gatherings and games.

Great place for a family holiday

We were a party of nine adults, two small children and two small dogs on a family get-together so this spacious property was just right for us and it could easily accommodate larger groups. Sefton House is well located just a few minutes' walk from the estuary/beach, recreation ground with its communal barbeque, village shops, pubs and teashops so everything we needed was close at hand and we had a great time. However, if Alnmouth isn't enough for you, Alnwick is only a few miles away with its castle, gardens, market, museum and fantastic second-hand bookshop as well as shops, coffee shops, etc.

We felt the property could do with some TLC to bring it back up to luxury standard but the owner was very quick to respond to a problem we experienced. The only other little negative was that parking was occasionally an issue as we had three cars and only one parking permit is provided.

We'd love to go back at some point in the future!

Perfect for a large informal gathering. Great location.

Very friendly and helpful host (shr kindly received a special delivery for us and gave us a welcome pack of wine and cheese) and a large,comfortable house which perfectly accommodated our family ranging from 8mths to 80yrs for a relaxed gathering. Living areas are attractive and spacious and bedrooms (most with en suite) were super comfy with especially great beds. I've awarded 4 not 5 stars as there could have been slightly more and slightly better kitchen equipment - we were doing a lot of catering. Would go back again if had another informal gathering of this size.

The quiet long golden sandy beach is only a couple of minutes walk away & is perfect for a romantic picnic or stroll and is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle. A beautiful rural setting and plenty of bird watching opportunities along the sand dunes makes Almnouth beach one of the finest in Northumberland.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Newcastle International Airport approx. 45 minutes drive away. Alnmouth Train Station is a 10-15 minute walk through the village & is located on the main North Easten Line providing links to Newcastle, local towns such as Berwick & Morpeth & further afield such as Edinburgh & York and London.

There is also a good local network of local bus services, with a bus stop right at the top of the street.

Distances:

The nearby town of Alnwick is a five minute drive away & is dominated by the medieval castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. The castle, open to the public, recently found fame as the setting for the Harry Potter movies. Also located here is The Alnwick Garden, a spectacular new garden within the castle grounds, and features water displays, a newly opened pavilion and the largest tree house in Europe. The garden is open every day of the year except Christmas day.

Further Details:

Alnmouth has a number of great cafe's, pubs & restaurants & a local grocery shop. It also has a quaint gift shop and a post office. Alnwick has a full range of high street shops, supermarkets & banks.

Sefton house also offers an in house chef if requested in advance. Great for special meals and occasions.
