This modern barn conversion is situated opposite the Oast House and within beautiful secluded 2.5 acre gardens. Friendly owners are close at hand to provide advice on local attractions such as Leeds Castle, Bodium Castle, the famous Sissinghurst Gardens, Bedgebury Pinetum and Bewl Water. Enjoy a wonderful selection of country walks including a 20 minute walk to the historic village of Headcorn. The attractive Wealden towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden are within 15-20 mins drive, offering excellent restaurants, shops, museums, light railway and leisure centres. Three local vinyards are close at hand. For golfers there are 4 courses all within 10 mins drive. Light aircraft enthusiasts can enjoy Headcorn airfield offering museums, displays, parachuting etc. Ideal for trips to France with Dover and the Channel Tunnel within easy reach. The main line train station in Headcorn provides a fast service to London for those wishing to see the sights and take in a show.

About the Owner

Matt and Liz Seymour have lived in Headcorn for 16 years and were born and brought up in Kent. We have three children who attend local schools. Matt runs his own business locally. He is dedicated to the promotion of Headcorn and has been a Parish Councillor. Liz is a Chartered Surveyor and now works with Matt. Adjacent to the Oast is The Cottage where Liz's parents live. Barry keeps the garden in immaculate condition and Mavis is always around for advice on the local attractions and supply of home made everything!

Waterside Oast is a friendly yet peaceful location and the owners are always willing to provide help and advice to visitors. The Oast was originally converted in the 60's but was refurbished 5 years ago in keeping with its history as an original working farm building.

The "Tardis"

We loved The Snug! It looks so tiny from outside. It is small of course but I would compare it to an Hotel room with ensuite but the additional advantage of a kitchenette. Liz and Barry and Liz's husband (sorry I cannot recall your name) were really helpful. Nothing too much trouble. It is very well equipped and neatly laid out with clever storage so you have plenty of room for your personal items. The hut with tourist information and other items is great. I loved the chickens too!

We didn't know Kent very well and soon discovered what a wonderful county it is. So rural! We love the coast so ventured to Deal, Ramsgate and Broadstairs. However, we absolutely loved Sandwich (on the mouth of river). We also enjoyed Sissinghurst even though the gardens are closed at this time of year. A gentleman guide there told us all about the place. His enthusiasm was infectious. We had a coffee and cake in the café there and made friends with a group on next table. Very nice atmosphere. Our three nights were very enjoyable. I hope we will manage another visit before too long.

my wife and i stayed in the snug for a 2 night break. we received a lovely warm welcome on arrival. we were so impressed with the snug we rarely ventured out and had relaxing weekend. headcorn village was a short drive down the lane but can be accessed by a 20 min walk through the fields(maps provided). i will defiantly be recommending this to friends and family.

The Snug at Headcorn....is absolutely fantastic. From the moment I arrived I knew it was just what I was looking for - peaceful, beautiful even on a rainy November day - everything was perfect. Liz was extremely welcoming, but left me to my own devices. The Snug itself has all you need - you can watch tv or dvd's, use the computer and wifi, so if it's wintertime it's not a problem. Headcorn village is a pleasant walk away with some lovely shops and pubs plus restaurants. I've only just left and already I'm scouring my diary for my next visit!!

A Cosy Little Gem

We booked a week in the Snug for a break, and mainly to see as many English Heritage and National Trust properties as we could. There are certainly plenty nearby.

The Snug is a cosy little studio property, immaculately fitted out and suitable for couples. There is everything you need for a comfortable week's stay, and the owners were very friendly, but not intrusive. Having internet access was a bonus for us. The location is quiet and relaxing.

Headcorn is a pleasant village with almost all you could need - the Indian restaurant, Krishna's, is very good - we ate there twice.

Lots to do nearby - Sissinghurst, Bodiam, Scotney, Bateman's and Dover and Deal only an hour away.

All in all a very pleasant break.

This is a beautiful location in a quiet rural road just on the outskirts of Headcorn just 20 minutes walk into the village. Headcorn is a popular, pretty village with a lovely community spirit, good shops and excellent transport links. The surrounding Wealden countryside offers many places to visit and beautiful walks. The Oast itself is very pretty and the gardens and paddock have previously won awards.

The nearest airport is Gatwick which is under an hour's drive away. Heathrow approx 1 hour 15 mins, Stansted approx 1 hour 30 mins. Dover, Folkestone and the Eurotunnel connection to the Continent are approximately 30 mins drive. Ashford International Station is 25 mins away. Trains from Headcorn Station, run regularly to London Charing Cross with a journey time of one hour 10 mins.

Headcorn has all the convenience shops required including a Sainsbury Local, bakery, butchers, fish mongers, deli and grocers. There is a cashpoint and a Nat West Bank in the village. Also available two takeaway restaurants, fish and chips, delightful indian restaurant, pubs with food, tea room and other intersting shops. C of E, Captist, catholic and Methodist churches are all in the village as well as a kids playgrounnd, bowling and tennis club and large village centre offering a full range of activities.

Kent is full of wonderful rural pubs offering excellent cuisine, many in 5/10 mins driving distance and several within walking distance. Several villages offer farmers markets throughout the week and there are two farm shops within easy driving distance.

Cranbrook town has a leisure centre with pool and other attractions such as a museum, library and windmill. Also large Coop supermarket.

Tenterden has a Waitrose and Tescos supermarket, excellent selection of restaurants antiques and clothes shops, leisure centre and light railway.

Maidstone the County Town offers parks, leisure centre, two shopping centres, museums, river cruises and much more.
