About Laura Hudson Mackay

Hello, my name is Laura Hudson Mackay and this property is a holiday home for my husband and I. We love it and we want you to enjoy it as well!

I am a photographic artist based in Scotland.

Why Laura Hudson Mackay chose Dumfries & Galloway

In 2006 we discovered a tumbled down cottage in an amazing location. After spending a year renovating and modernising it, we have come to love the cottage and the special part of South West Scotland it occupies. We hope you enjoy this magical place, we're sure you too will fall in love with it.

We have another property for rent on Owners Direct, which is Riad Romm'an in Marrakech, Morocco www.ownersdirect.co.uk/morocco/MR215.htm

What makes this cottage unique

Highlights of Cutcloy Cottage include, peace, quiet, a slower pace of life, stunning views, coastal walks, wildlife, seaside air, local food and relaxation.

Lovely solitude

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Cutcloy Cottage was everything the doctor ordered. We never wanted to leave! Of all the places we stayed during our one month trip to northern England and SW Scotland, this was the one that felt most like a home. It was well-equipped not just with the basics, but with an abundance of extras like books, DVDs, maps, pamphlets, personal touches, binoculars, etc. but the biggest surprise was that VIEW! Like a lot of guests, we couldn't wait to get back to the cottage every day so we could sip a drink and relax, looking out at the view of farm land, stone walls and the Irish Sea. It's a place for solitude but it's within comfortable driving distance to the Galloway Forest, Mull of Galloway and some interesting towns. We also took the walk along the cliffs between Isle of Whithorn and Burrow Head--not for the faint of heart on a very windy day!

I recommend a stay at Cutcloy Cottage for those who need to recharge their batteries and get away from it all. A great stay for us. Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful cottage with lovely views. A very comfortable and enjoyable holiday.

  • 5 of 5

A well appointed cottage. It is tastefully laid out and has a view that you don't tired of. Rooms are a good size. The decking area is sheltered and was a good place to sit in the sun. Loved it.

You won't be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage still has the wow factor, from the moment you open the front door you are met by quality fittings and fixtures, every room is delightful, homely and comfortable, the snug has a welcoming fireplace and was well stocked with logs, the living area has fantastic views, at night the sky is amazing due to the low light pollution.

The kitchen area is well equipped, the decked area and garden areas are lovely.

There are lots of places to visit with Whithorn, Wigtown and other unspoilt villages nearby, there are some lovely coastal walks along the cliff tops to the village pub 'The Steampacket Inn' and St Ninian's cave, not for the feint hearted though as they are in places close to the cliff edge.

This is a great place to chill out and re-charge your batteries.

This was our 5th visit, roll on number 6 : )

Stunning and spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

Cutcloy Cottage far exceeded our expectations. It is spectacular, very comfortable and furnished beautifully. We felt immediately relaxed!

The outdoor space at the cottage is as stunning as the interior with amazing views of the surrounding countryside, sea and - on a clear day - the Isle of Man.

The location of the cottage is peaceful and a place you just can't help but 'switch off' in.

We will definitely return and highly recommend Cutcloy Cottage for a real break away from it all. Fabulous!!

perfection

  • 5 of 5

This cottage, reclaimed I believe from an old Croft, is the nicest one we have ever stayed in in all the 10plus years we have been renting cottages in Scotland. The location, the furnishings, the equipment inside the cottage, the comfort, the warmth and the attention to detail were superb. We have been home for 3 days and already we have recommended it to 5 people, one a complete stranger. The Steam Packet Inn, the nearest place to eat was also excellent, but to be honest we were so comfortable at Cut Cloy Cottage we stayed in and cooked. 5 stars - we would give it more if we could.
