About the property

Barn in Lignerolles, 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, heated secured swimming pool, Semi Rural Location, Close to St Severe, La Chatre and Chateaumeillient, Free WIFI

La Grange Pommiers lends itself to large families and groups. It has a 24m lounge, 15m kitchen and large dining room. There is a beautifully-equipped playroom, three large spacious double rooms with high open beamed ceilings, one twin and one triple and a fully-equipped nursery for infants and two junior beds. 4 bathrooms with power showers and 3 baths including one spa bath. Free WIFI internet and free UK & French landline calls. There is a 40” flat screen HD TV in the main barn with UK TV and a selection of DVD's. The play room has a TV, Video/DVD player with a selection of films and shows. The kitchen is well equipped with all the normal gadgets and tools you'd expect from a family kitchen. We have a heated swimming pool which is surrounded by a safety fence and self locking gate, 10ft trampoline, swings and slides in the lower shady areas. The barn is close to Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre, the location of the Jacques Tati film Jour de Fête. It sits in the traditional rural historic region of Berry made famous by George Sand and her association of Chopin. There are many country walks as you are in the heart of walking country, signs for sentier de randonnée lead almost from the front door and quiet lanes are great for cycling.

About Tania Garforth

We purchased La Grange Pommiers with a view to creating a stylish, comfortable, baby and toddler safe holiday location for families and groups of friends to visit. Over the past few years we have rented villas all over the world and hope we have managed to make a special place for people to visit.

Our children ages 4 and 2 at the time loved the space and openness of the barn and run freely throughout the barn and garden from the minute they arrive.

Tania Garforth purchased this barn in 2010

Why Tania Garforth chose Indre

We chose this property as the location was fairly unspoilt by tourism and the area is still relatively untouched by mass tourism. Over the past five years we have seen a rise in tourists from all over Europe. The air quality in the Indre region is reportedly one of the best in Europe, and at night the stars twinkle so brightly its a pleasure to be out star gazing. We also chose this property for it's ease of access from all main routes down the centre of France, Paris and Limoges airports.

What makes this barn unique

La Grange Pommiers lends itself to groups of people whether it be friends or famillies enjoying themselves. From the minute you arrive in the large open space of the kitchen with its large dining table you can feel that you won't be crowded even if you are at full capacity. The six spacious bedrooms and 4 great bathrooms give everyone plenty of space to choose from. La Grange Pommiers has a calm feeling about it and we hope you leave our home more relaxed than when you arrived.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Just wanted to tell you that we spent an idyllic week at La Grange Pommier (FR 7161) The barn is beautiful, very well equipped and child friendly. The neighbor, Ann very helpful and warm and the dealings with Tania Garforth easy and very professional.

The area is lovely, few if any tourists and the region quite peaceful. Yet there is a lot to see from the lovely roads to castles, cathedrals and abbeys.

We enjoyed the pool and all the other amenities in this tasteful barn. The children (ages 14, 8 and 18 months) were extremely happy. I would recommend this place without any hesitation." Vera Maitinsky, New York.

Notes on accommodation: We have set up La Grange Pommiers to a standard where any parent with children of any age can arrive and feel safe in the knowledge that nothing needs making safe. Stairgates are at the top and bottom of both staircases, safety catches are on all the lower cupboard doors and drawers. There is almost everything you need for an infant or even for twins from sterilisers to weaning trays, Off road buggies, baby slings and carriers, booster seats and high chairs and of course a fully set up nursery with large cotbed/changing table, moses basket and extra travel cot too. The barn has been independently inspected for child safety issues and is reported to be set up to a high standard and in compliance with British and European regulations. Outside: The garden is all to the front of La Grange Pommiers and completely secure with gates to the bottom of the drive and locked side gates with fences down the sides of the tree lined boundaries. There is a 10ft trampoline for bigger children along with swings and slides for big and small children. Brand new for 2011 is the new sunken pool set in the middle of the garden surrounded by safe fencing and a self locking security gate. The pool can be seen from the barn at the top of the garden and the play area at the lower end of the garden. The pool is constantly heated. There are several seating areas in the garden, under the wisteria arbour, in front of the old wheel is a lovely sun trap and the large dining table under the willow tree provides shade and a calm place to eat any meal of the day. The brick built BBQ is efficient and easy to use and sits midway down the garden. Utility Room: Washing machine, drying racks, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are included and changed at the beginning of each let. Pool towels are also included as an added bonus to ease your packing worries. Other: La Grange Pommiers has large barn doors which allow masses of natural light to flow into the barn, at this entrance we have added two large armchairs and this makes a great reading spot where you can see all of the garden.

Beautiful, welcoming family friendly home

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to La Grange Pommiers and definitely wont be our last! It is a fantastic family friendly home that suits our family of 6 perfectly with room for friends to come and visit too.

Each time we come here the weather is superb and there are lots of lovely market towns and lakes nearby. This time our children did the go ape adventure which is about 20mins away, they had a fabulous time and for 3 hours adventuring it was very reasonably priced at under 20 euros.

The owners are lovely to deal with, always polite and efficient with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. Thank you very much, we will be back :-)

Ideal property if wanting rural location

  • 4 of 5

Good property and information accurate. Lovely location away from it all. Property well able to accommodate a large number, we were 11, mainly adults, but very well equipped for children. Obviously a well loved house, well maintained and clean, and the owner was contactable when we needed to query something. Away from the main Loire Chateaux but plenty of interesting things to do in the vicinity.

Relaxing, fun family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family holiday in Lignerolles. It was beautiful because of its simplicity. The children played in the garden, bounced on the trampoline, had Easter egg and treasure hunts and adored swimming in the heated pool. We went out for pizza in Le Chatre and popped into Super U, which seemed to sell everything we needed! The barn was extremely well equipped and had everything my family required. There were comfy beds and spotless bed linens and towels. We had an awesome holiday which we all enjoyed and we will be coming back!

Second visit didn't disappoint!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Have just returned from a wonderful second visit to LGP....and it was even better this time round!

The barn has been tastefully modernised with some lovely touches, clearly an owner with taste.

The property is so child friendly, but for this visit, it was the perfect Yummy Mummy weekend away. We flew into Limoges and drove to LGP, under 2 hours to reach the barn....as we turned into the drive, it's beauty shone out!

The owners have made some delightful upgrades even since my last visit, enhancing the appearance even more.

The pool, garden, garden furniture were all immaculate-thank you!

We were a group of 6 Mummy friends, wanting a relaxing weekend away fro. Home. The kitchen is so well stocked. We popped to La Chatre to visit the supermarket, Super U for supplies, but also made full use of the bakery in Ste. Severe every morning for fresh bread and croissants. Yum!

The area surrounding Lignerolles, and Lignerolles itself is simply stunning-we were able to admire some of the most stunning Wisteria I have ever seen!

We enjoyed a meal out in La Chatre on Monday which was delicious, and very well priced. (Cafe du Commercial rings a bell?!)

I loved making use of the heated outdoor swimming pool, followed by a lovely shower in one of the 3 gorgeous bathrooms.

Thank you to Tania Garforth for her meticulous detail when arranging the visit, her attention to detail helped make the trip run far more smoothly.

I hope to return to the barn again soon, but my children and husband want to come next time!

Lovely converted barn with heated pool

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a lovely few days with friends and children - three families with children were easily accommodated with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and a huge dining table that seated us all. The heated pool and outside play area with trampoline were particularly well used. The local food was excellent and easily prepared in the fully equipped kitchen, and the local wines we tried were superb. I will be back!

Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 11, 5 young children and 6 adults. The aim of the week was to have some family time together, without too many distractions and this house certainly provided that.

The house provided for us a home from home experience with everything you needed already there and available. The large dining area and the childrens play room was used to the fullest.

The weather was not the warmest we had expected, but the surrounding area had lots of distractions for both the adults and the children, we had ample use of the pool, which is very child friendly and secure. We felt priviliged to be able to use a house that it clearly still a home for the owners.
