Wysteria Lodge offers luxury holiday space for those choosing peace and tranquility. Nestled in our 100 acre private estate it affords complete privacy. The emphasis is on peace and quiet. A place to retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle and connect with a truly relaxed way of life. We have our entire estate at your disposal which includes 2 spring fed freshwater lakes which are our pools, no chlorine, no chemicals, just pure soft spring water. We have orange and tangerine groves, as well as olive, fig and a selection of fruit trees. The ancient Moorish capital of the Algarve is only 7kms away and boasts a wealth of restaurants and bars as well as historic and dramatic architecture. If walking is your thing then our estate is situated just 300m from the recently opened Via Algarviana. As for beaches,we could not be better positioned to access them all, our closest being just a 15 min drive. As for golf we are a mere 10 min drive from the newly opened Oceanico golf complex.

About jason and kay kimpton

We are a family who have travelled extensively before we decided to settle in the Algarve. We love the local countryside and all the flora and fauna here. We also love the relaxed pace of life here and continue to immerse our family into the local culture as much as possible. We also offer retreats and alternative breaks on our land and try to keep our impact on the land and environment as low impact as possible. Its a beautiful valley and we endeavour to keep it that way. We love to meet new people, and also understand the need to provide a space of tranquility and peace for the time that you are here. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Jason and Kay.

Why jason and kay kimpton chose Silves

We absolutely love it here for the peace and quiet and the ability to be able to immerse ourselves in "country life" in the Algarve. However we can still be at some of the most beautiful beaches in as little as 15 mins in the car

What makes this cottage unique

This is simply a place to totally unwind and recharge your batteries, but also has all the best that the Algarve has to offer at your doorstep. You can spend your days at the coast, the golf coarse, the mountains,or shopping, but can be assured of returning to a very peaceful place where you can hear a pin drop at night and gaze up at the spray of stars in crystal clear skies

Guestbook comments from the owner

Notes on accommodation: Although the lodge has one bedroom it can easily fit a couple with two children. There is a tv and dvd machine. Your entrance door opens out onto a stunning valley with a burbling brook. The emphasis is on out door living in the algarve and so a bbq is also there for your use. Please note that we do not accept pets under any circumstances. This is also a haven for wildlife with a stunning array of local and international birdlife at your door step. Outside: Our entire estate is at your disposal with beautiful lakes to swim in and countryside walks for literally miles. We also have a wealth of fruit trees from which you are welcome to help yourself (season permitting). For those with an appreciation for nature then you wont be dissappointed. We are frequently visited by wild boar, deer, Portuguese mongoose, Bonellis eagles, king fishers, The lower lake has turtles, carp and wide mouth bass (some guests have eaten the bass... you are welcome to try). As evening falls we are seranaded by singing frogs, crickets, cicades, nightingales and many guests choose to eat at our many local restaurants before a nightcap and to to gaze up at the blanket of stars. For those wishing to cook at home then the kitchen in the lodge will be ample for your needs, but... we also have several BBQ spots and our very own stone built wood burning pizza oven for those wanting to expand their cooking skills. We are always on hand to help and or/advise. Utility Room: Ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen included / changed weekly. Other: The lodge also has an automatic pellet burning wood stove for ultra cozy comfort on the cooler evenings of the winter time stays.Real fire without the hassle of loading with wood and no smoke or fumes just warm air circulation.First bag of pellets free

Jason and Kay are wonderful hosts. Full of knowledge and kindness.

Wisteria cottage was homely with everything we needed for a long weekend. I'm ready to book the next trip.

Get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

A perfect place to get away from it all. Hours of walking in the surrounding hills with friendly resident dogs. Bird watching on the doorstep with Bonelli's Eagles in the valley and fantastic wetlands a short drive away as well as nesting storks in the town of Silves. Wonderful traditional food in the local restaurants and plenty of local vegetables in the market. We could have stayed all winter.

Relaxing in a charming environment

  • 5 of 5

We (me and my wife) spent two weeks in the Wysteria Lodge. Everything was as it had been described. We had a nice communication before arrival with Jason and he described exactly how to find this nice place. The Wysteria Lodge is a nice wooden house, very quiet and relaxing. Kay and Jason gave us a warm welcome. So we felt like being at home from the first minute. The three dogs there were also nice and very friendly. Especially my wife who normally doesn't like dogs became their best friend and walked around with the dogs. Kay and Jason were helpful in every way when we had a problem or a question and they recommended some interesting things to visit. It is really nice to be without internet and mobil phone connection (and to recognise that one can survive without being online the whole day). We visited some farmers markets (which I would recommend to all visitors - it is much better than in the supermarket), Monchique, Silves and some other towns. Not to forget that we spent nice times on various beaches and going diving with the Easy Divers in Albufeira. We can highly recommend this place to others and we still have the nice smell from the pine trees, the bushes and the soil in our noses, this smell is so nice that one can become addictet to it.

Kay and Jason - many thanks for those wonderful days.

Escapism at its best

  • 5 of 5

Just home from a wonderful 5 days at the lodge. It was everything we hoped it would be from the description and the reviews (and more!). Jase and Kay are the best hosts, we arrived on an unusually cold wet day and Jase had lit the pellet stove so it was really cosy by the time we got there. He and Kay gave us such a warm welcome and made sure we had everything we needed.

The lodge is spacious with a huge comfy bed. It is positioned to get the sun all day and the view is lovely.

The location is perfect if you are looking to get away from it all, and yet a short drive takes you into Silves, an interesting town with everything you need. Lovely beaches within a short drive.

We really enjoyed the walking, wonderful orange groves and the wild flowers are everywhere in the Spring.

The lodge is well secluded from the other more rustic accommodation on the estate so there is the opportunity to either keep to yourself or socialise with the other guests if you want.

There is no wi-fi and very little phone signal which is a bonus if you are trying to switch off. The phone signal appears as soon as you go over the ridge from the property and for those who need to plug in during their stay it is very easy to find free internet - most of the cafes and restaurants have it.

We had the best food of our stay in the small hillside restaurant just a few minutes down the road. At 10 Euro a head for all you can eat and wine it was hard to beat. Anna offers whatever they have cooked that day rather than a menu and it was always delicious.

I would highly recommend this as a really unique place to stay. Thanks Jase and Kay, we hope to be back.

Relax to the Max

  • 5 of 5

Sadly we had bad weather for our week away but this did not detract from the wonderful stay we had at the lodge. Our hosts were lovely and the setting is fantastic, i imagine it is wonderful in the sun but we made the most of it in the rain. Plenty of walks right from the front door, so peaceful and quiet and out of the stress of town/city life. A beautiful short drive up into the hills and you have nothing but the sounds of nature to keep you company. We made friends with the neighbours and enjoyed nights in and out. The facilities are great with everything you need and plenty of space. All the stress and strains of daily life were removed and we never wanted to leave which is exactly what we wanted from our time away. Plenty to see and do from beaches to mountain tops, wonderful food and lovely people to be found everywhere. We are already thinking about when to return!! If you want to be close to clubs and pubs this is not the place for you, if you want to get away from it all or have a romantic escape this will be perfect. Also ideal for those concious of the environment and wanting to be at one with nature. Thanks Jason and Kay for having us and hi to the dogs we miss them too!

Cosy wood house in a very quiet and beautiful environment

  • 5 of 5

Perfect holidays in a great place, very quiet and beautiful.Jason is very friendly and gives you good advices of things to do.Not far from te airport, nor the beaches or things to see.The house is very cosy and confortable, with good equipments. And you'll find three gentle dogs who are always searching hugs. If you want activities and noisy neighbours, it's not the good place to choose!

Hope we could come again.
