About Carla and Robert Lock

We have loved coming to Samoens for the past 12 years, as we live only one hour away. We have spent many weekends renovating the chalet, which was named ''Heidi House'' because of it's setting. It had no running water nor electricity! A few good stories came out of this project, as you can imagine. We love to welcome people to our special place and also to the amazing area, where there is so much beauty to explore and time to relax and restore your energy.

Carla and Robert Lock purchased this chalet in 2004

Why Carla and Robert Lock chose Samoëns

The chalet caught our hearts immediately, with the amazing views, sounds of the forest and river, we were totally sold!

We really appreciate all the area has to offer, the Samoens village remains traditional and the local people are so warm hearted. It only takes us one hour from Geneva, so a perfect weekend house for us and our family to enjoy when guests are not there enjoying it for us.

What makes this chalet unique

We love the convenience of the Chalet, it is close enough to the village to enjoy but also far enough away to have the feeling of really getting away from it all.

The chalet is situated in a very peaceful area ... we have a stream running through the property and their is nothing better than being in a warm comfy bed listening to the stream ...total peace.

The garden allows for great fun, especially for children in winter as after a good days skiing they are able to toboggan to their hearts content with the gentle slopes surrounding the chalet.

Unforgetable Heidi House in Samoens

  • 5 of 5

The listing through Ownersdirect, was totally accurate. We drove from Geneva, through beautiful country side. As we approached out destination, the views of the majestic mountains and beautiful wild flowers were spectacular, amongst this beauty, we first laid sight of Heidi House.

Heidi House was eveything we could possabley have asked for, beautifuly clean, and very well equiped. Heidi House offered us cool relaxation after a days hiking and siteseighing. We enjoyed shopping in Samoens. We received amazing serivce from Carla and Robert when booking our week away. We informed friends who are planning a winter gettaway about Heidi House and we can only imagine how breathtakingly beautiful it will be in winter.

Thank you Carla and Robert for opening your cottage to all who visit. We look forward to booking our next holiday. Until we meet again Heidi House.

Lovely ski chalet in Samoens

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip using owners direct and we were delighted with the service we received from Carla and Robert in booking our week away. Heidi House chalet more than lived up to our expectations. Such a cosy chalet to relax in after a day's skiing. The chalet was very clean and the decent sized rooms provided good family accommodation with comfy beds and seating. The very well equipped kitchen was ideal for preparing our meals. Having driven ourselves to Samoens it was great to have hassle-free parking outside the chalet which was in easy driving distance of either of the gondola ski lifts and the town.

Would we stay there again - absolutely.

Travel:

Samoens is only one hours drive from Geneva International Airport. Flights are available from 22 UK airports for a direct route into the Alps. Many holiday makers are choosing to drive from the UK which is very simple.

Distances:

Samoens is ideally located, close to many other wonderful places such as Chamonix (only 45mins away), the beautiful French town of Annecy (1 hour away), more skiing in the Portes du Soleil (only 40 mins away). There is so much to explore in the area, such as the magnificent nature reserve of Sixt Fer a Cheval, only 10 mins away.

Further Details:

Labelled as a ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ resort it is also an ideal family destination in summer and winter. The village is a great family ski resort, offering many activities for families and children in both summer and winter, the way of life is very relaxed and takes you back to the carefree days of your childhood. There are good child care facilities and an excellent Creche in the village and a ski garden at the top of the ski lift for children to learn to ski with the local ski school. There are many ski schools and also very good private ski instructors to help your children, or yourselves, to perfect those moves on the slopes.

The village carries the designation of a "ville fleurie" distinguishing it as one of the most beautiful villages in France and is also the only winter sports resort to be classified by the Caisse Nationale des Monuments Historiques, as it dates from the middle ages. Well worth a visit is The Botanical Garden and house. The garden was created in 1906, sculpted into an area of 3.5 hectares overlooking the village. There you will find the Ruins of the Tornalta castle (12th century), the chapel (18th century) together with 8,000 plants from the mountains of the world - all amongst rocky outcrops and waterfalls. Wednesdays are market days in Samoens, where the entire area opposite the Tourist Office turns into a wonderful array of fresh produce to ceramics.

The Giffre is a typical mountain river that flows through Samoens and is ideal for all types of water sports and activities. For white water rafting, kayaking and hydrospeed, there's no better spot. But the Giffre does not stop there; it feeds into the two lakes in the leisure park, a vast, tranquil place where you can fish for trout, try out the golf practice tee over water or discover the challenging aerial assault course.
