About the property

Farmhouse near Touffailles, Tarn-et-Garonne, Midi Pyrenees, France - Stunning Views! Private, Not Overlooked, Ideal For Families, Dining And Sunbathing Terraces

If you appreciate peace and tranqulity and luxury touches this is the property for you. It is set in 6 acres of parkland with trees and flowers and another 12 acres of farmland belonging to the property. The house is secluded and peaceful but not isolated. It was completely refurbished in 2005 and upgraded further in 2008 to a very high standard. It is fully furnished with antique furniture and the kitchen is fully equipped. It is warm in winter with full central heating and remains very cool in the heat of the summer. The large, fenced saltwater swimming pool is one its best features. There is a safe entry by fixed steps at the shallow end and room for good swimming at the deep end. There is ample space for sunbathing with a covered terrace for breakfast, lunch and dinners al fresco. From the house there are several quiet and safe country walks and good cycling countryside. You are likely to see wildlife as you sit outside including deer, red squirrels and a range of birds.

About John Turner

We purchased the house in 2007 after a long search for a well built traditional property in a quiet location. Completely refurbished in 2005, the house has a warm atmosphere and the grounds provide both space and visual beauty from the hundreds of oaks in the grounds. We come out as often as we can but when we are not there we are happy to rent it out to guests who want quality and tranquility. Furnished throughout with antiques and with a fully equipped kitchen (eg Kenwood food processor, De Longhi coffee machine) the property offers a rare combination of comfort and peaceful simplicity in a private and natural rural environment. We know that discerning guests will like the special touches : high-quality linen, luxury towels, toiletries, and a fabulously equipped kitchen. A home from home!

Why John Turner chose Tarn-et-Garonne

The property is a delightful old farmhouse built in the traditional Quercy stone style. The house is located about 28km north of the autoroute connecting Toulouse and Bordeaux. It is just 90 minutes from Toulouse and Bergerac airports, both of which have regular and affordable flights from several UK airports. It is a 7 or 8-hour drive from the northern ports using the autoroute. The house is 3km from the village of Touffailles which has a post office and a boulangerie which is open most days and sells a range of essentials including freshly-baked bread. The nearest main town is Moissac (about 40 mins) which has Saturday and Sunday markets, lots of shops and a Romanesque abbey. The house is fully connected to the internet with wi-fi. It has satellite TV and DVD player and telephone.

What makes this farmhouse unique

What is so special about this property - and most guests comment on this - is the peace and tranquility of the environment. Hundreds of oaks trees in the vicinity, two wooded areas for exploration, an orchard, a fenced full-length pool, complete privacy, great views over the surrounding fields and hills and yet, easy access to facilities such as restaurants and shops within a short drive. The area retains the essential core of rural French life such as summer fetes, open-air meals provided by local communities, quiet beautiful bastide villages, and rolling farmland. Unlike the better known areas such as the Dordogne and Provence you can enjoy this region without then crowds. The roads are quiet, the villages unhurried and the food and landscape as good as anywhere in real France.

Farmhouse, near Touffailles, Tarn-et-Garonne, Midi Pyrenees, France

Rarely in life do expectations of the perfect holiday match up to reality. Our recent stay at Bededayne however was just such a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience.

Having trawled the websites for somewhere really special we made our selection and subsequent booking hoping it would turn out to be all we expected and wished for.

Our party, a family of four generations with ages spanning between 7 months to almost 93 years, would obviously have varying requirements. We hoped for the best and on this occasion we certainly were not disappointed. The holiday turned out to be all it promised and much, much more.

The accommodation was not only luxurious (certainly by ‘holiday let’ standards),but cosy and wonderfully well equipped for every conceivable need.

The setting and facilities were all they said they were on the website and we were positively elated on our arrival to find everywhere beautifully clean, welcoming and presented to perfection.

Both the owners and the manager were available around the clock to offer help and advice if required and all in all I don’t feel the package could be improved upon in any way.

We will not hesitate to recommend this holiday destination/venue to family or friends and will certainly be making a return visit (or visits) in future.
