Top Traveller Review
Thanks so much for your review.
I hadn't considered the lack of a microwave would be problematic for some guests so thanks for the constructive feedback on this.
We are so pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay.
I hope you will consider re-booking with us in the future.

Guestbook comments from the owner
'The villa was lovely, very spacious and airy and we had a very relaxing 2 weeks. It was good to have some DVDs and CDs available. I left a couple of books behind for other guests to use. We would certainly consider the villa again and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.'
'Just wanted to thank you for letting us stay at your villa and ensuring our holiday was a thoroughly enjoyable one. The villa was fantastic, and all the info before hand given to us was top notch. We pretty much did everything on there. We love Dalaman and you may get a call from us not too far in the distant future in regards to a possible re stay. I would also like to give a special mention to Ilhan, he was a massive help to us throughout our week and didn't put a foot wrong.'

The villa was stunning upon arrival and once inside that did not change, it's very spacious with beautiful rooms and bathrooms. The outside space with the pool and jacuzzi are lovely for lazy evenings. The location is perfect for a peaceful week away with the nearest village a 20 mins walk with bars and restaurants. There is also a TV and DVD player. The only thing missing for us was a microwave in the kitchen for easy meals but other than that the villa is perfect. You defiantly will not regret going.
Fabulous villa and location
This is our 4th stay at Jackie & David's villa and we love it more each year. Uzumlu is a total switch off where everyone is so friendly and you are spoilt for choice as to where to eat and most places are within walking distance of villa. Our favourite is Eddy's bar who does the most amazing steaks but not forgetting the Secret Garden who's Pizza's are the best. There are also other good restaurants. The villa and pool are so beautiful as are the people. We will be booking our 2016 holiday with you soon. Many thanks.
From the Owner
“We originally went to Turkey in May 2008 for a short week's break to get away from it all. Within 5 days of being in Uzumlu we had put the deposit down on the villa having fallen totally in love with this peaceful and beautiful village and the friendly locals. We bought off plan, so everything inside the villa was chosen by us to create our second home. Uzumlu is 9km up into the mountains and is far enough away from the main tourist areas to provide a chill out holiday, but also close enough to be able to drive or get the bus down to fabulous Calis beach and the busy town of Fethiye. There are plenty of good value tourist excursions to get involved with if you want to. We also love the climate - practically guaranteed sunshine in the summer months, but slightly cooler due to the lovely cool mountain breeze.”
Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
History in the area is endless, so great for sight seeing as well. Lycian tombs at Tlos and Telmessos, Dalyan mud baths and turtle beaches here and at Patara, ghost town at Kayakoyu.
There are also jeep safaris and a variety of other excursions to choose from.
Easy access by car, dolmus - local bus service (pronounced dolmush) or taxi to Oludeniz, Hisaronu and Calis for the beach.
The Turquoise coast is one of the most popular resorts in Turkey, with beaches at Calis/Fethiye and more famously Oludeniz. Blue Lagoon is one of the most beautiful and photographed beaches in the world with it's turquoise sea and white sandy beach.
Transfers (50 - 55 mins) to and from Dalaman Airport to Uzumlu available on request.
Current prices are 1 - 4 people £80 return, up to 6 people £90 paid on arrival in sterling cash. Child seats are supplied at no extra cost and if required the child must be over the age of 1 and they must be booked at the time of transfer request. Daily car hire available on request. Current prices incl. full insurance £23 - £55 per day depending on vehicle choice (prices subject to change). Delivery to and collection from the villa free of charge. Cars can also be available for collection to and from the airport free of charge.
Good local restaurants with bars, a wine house, several supermarkets and a village bakery all easy walking distance from the villa. Fresh crusty loaves straight from the oven can be bought at 6am and 11.30pm for just 50p and freshly made cheese pastries are a must try too. There is a small market on Friday with local vegetables, fruit, cheese and fresh trout (select your own fish). Household goods and clothing stalls also feature. Barter for clothes and household goods. Look out for the village people selling their goods.
Uzumlu is an unspoilt country village that gives a true reflection of rural Turkish life and culture. Quiet and relaxing retreat with lots of countryside/forest to walk in, take in picturesque views and local life. Authentic village houses show a traditional lifestyle for local people. Uzumlu translates literally 'with grapes' and you will see most local houses have their own grapevines, a vegetable plot and livestock. Most local people live off the land and are very happy to share produce with you. Local wine is available in the village.
Sunshine during the summer months is practically guaranteed, but don't be surprised to get the odd thunderstorm! Temperatures are well over 30C in the height of the season but Uzumlu benefits from a lovely mountain breeze. It is also usually warm enough for sunbathing in May and October.
As Turkey is not in the EU, the standard of living is a lot cheaper than the UK. Eating out is also very good value for money. 2015 sees the best exchange rate for a long time.
Fethiye is a typical busy town with a harbour (daily links to Rhodes) and a large marina. Boat trips (12 island) we have tried and loved are Happy Days and Dolce Vita (the latter being a smaller boat). Cost 2015 - 75TL/£18.75 (Dolce Vita) including lunch on board. Cash bar on board including soft drinks, alcohol and hot beverages.
There is a huge market held on Tuesday in central Fethiye with endless food stalls along with clothes, leather goods, handbags, carpets, shoes, herbs and spices, Turkish delight, local lace and trinkets. Haggling with the stall holders is a must! The food market is also held on Friday. There is another market (slightly smaller) on Sunday in central Calis - closer to the village). Outside of the village these are the best and cheapest places to buy fruit, vegetables, spices, meat, cheese etc. There is a central area where you can buy something to eat and drink, the chicken doner is fantastic as are the local pancakes!
For fish lovers go to the fish market in Fethiye where you can buy fresh fish daily. Restaurants around the market will cook it for you. There are two good butchers close to the fish market open daily.
Larger supermarkets Migros and Kipa (Tesco) are within 20 minutes drive from the villa. Owners without cars can ask Ilhan for a shopping lift as long as they pay him fuel money.

From the Owner
“Despite only being a short distance from the tourist areas, in Uzumlu you will really benefit from a cheaper way of life, not only in the local shops, but also in the local restaurants. The village is very self contained and has almost everything you need - supermarkets, a bakery and plenty of places to eat out. Our property is one of only a handful in the village that has a jacuzzi - perfect for relaxing in after a busy day's shopping or excursion. The biggest benefit is not being in the EU so Turkey is a much more economical holiday destination for you. UK pounds cash, Euros as well as Turkish Lira are accepted as payment in Turkey. Exchange rates in Turkey are usually better than the UK. We have a lovely couple who look after the villa for us - Ilhan and Urdigool Semerci. Ilhan cleans and looks after the pool, maintains the garden area and will do any maintenance jobs (from changing light bulbs to fixing the pool pump). Urdigool cleans the villa and changes the bed linen and towels every 3 days. Nothing is too much trouble for them.”
