Lovely, Provencale, centrally located 1 bed apartment in heart of Vieux Nice. Perfect for Romantic Getaways on the Cote D'azur

Sitting in the lounge window of Santa Lucia gives a lovely aspect towards Place Rosetti and its church one way, and a stunning view to the old town buildings the other. Santa Lucia is in a superb location in the very heart of the Old Town of Nice, a short walk from the beach, Cours Saleya and Place Rosetti. At night you can sit under the window, perhaps enjoying a glass of locally produced rose wine, whilst listening to the chatter in the street below. Or if you want perfect peace, just close the original shutters and double glazed windows, and the chatter fades away. Santa Lucia is a one bed, one bath apartment which has been lovingly renovated in a fresh style, whilst keeping as many of its original features as possible. The fireplace, tomette floor, doors, shutters and painted beams are all original leaving the apartment bursting with character. That said we have installed all modern amenities you would expect including a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom as well as a technology centre with international cable TV, DVD and complimentary WI-FI.

About Linda Jones

We have been together over 20 years now and 10 years ago were lucky enough to have our daughter Lucy. We have always enjoyed travelling, and we realised that as parents, the best quality self catering accommodation was for us better than a stay in a hotel. Over the years we have found the best and worst experiences of staying in owners properties and we have drawn on all this history to ensure everyone who stays with us has the best holiday possible.

Why Linda Jones chose Old Town

We love Nice, it is a beach resort but with a vibrant city feel. There is something happening throughout the year in Nice, Carneval, Christmas Markets, Jazz Festivals. There is nothing better than strolling down the Promenade des Anglais on a summer's evening before dining in a fabulous restaurant or shopping in the quaint shops in the Old Town. Santa Lucia is in the very heart of the Old Town but in a lovely, quiet street.

What makes this apartment unique

We spent many years searching for the right property in Nice. We immediately fell in love with Santa Lucia and have renovated it but kept the period features - Tomette tiled floors, marble fire place, ceiling fans. It is on the second floor of a traditional Nicois building so not too many steps to climb!

We loved staying in this well equipped, spacious, sunny ,apartment. It is convenient to everything, restaurants, shops, Place Rossetti, the tram line, the market and promenade. It was lovely to relax and watch the world go by from our second floor window. At night it was quiet and peaceful. The decor is tasteful, and modern while retaining the charachter of the old building. There are homely touches such as table mats, books, beach mats , shopping bags. We definitely hope to return.

Perfect location for a short break away...

We would most definitely recommend staying in this apartment in Old Town Nice.

From initially booking the apartment the owners could not have been more helpful with tips and suggestions of where to eat and what to do.

Excellent instructions on transport and how to find the apartment where gratefully received and also very comprehensive.

Dorine met us at the apartment and could also have not been more helpful to us.

The apartment itself is well equipped and has everything you need. Situated right in the old town of Nice, you are in the hustle and bustle of the French life. However, at night after 11pm, so quiet, you couldn't hear a thing...

There is so much to do in Nice itself and we enjoyed plenty of walks along the Promenade Des Anglais and also looking at the amazing boats by the Port.

We travelled to Monaco on the bus for €1.50 which is worth the ride in itself. (remember to sit on the right of the bus for the views).

We would definitely visit and stay in this apartment again and cannot thank Linda and Mark for making our special 20th Anniversary get away something we will always remember and cherish.

In the middle of it all - Location - Location - Location

Santa Lucia

Happy that we selected an apartment in Old town vs. in Antibes or Villefranche-sur-Mer that we also researched: 1) “in” Old Town, 2) many restaurants nearby, 3) easy tram/bus/train/airport access

Santa Lucia is in Old Town Nice midway between Opera and Cathedral Tram stops convenient from train station Nice Ville a.k.a. Gare Thiers. (Buy 10-pass tram tickets for 10€ at Lignes D’Azur across from train station – can use American credit card – same ticket used for buses in the area short of Monaco making local transit inexpensive. Pick-up bus schedules for 82, 100, 112, 200 and others you may need). Enter Old Town down the stairs next to Planet Sushi, you are 25 steps from building #4 door requiring key for entrance. More than one dozen apartments inside, most above 2nd floor.

Doreen was easy to work with.

As to be expected, an old building – press button for lights else dark stairway, no lift. 2nd floor (2 above ground), not large but quite adequate with high ceilings, white walls and 2 windows making it quite pleasant inside – foyer, sitting room with small table and 4 chairs plus pullout couch, queen bedroom and narrow bathroom with shower in bathtub – water is hot, pressure is excellent. (Bring bath soap, shampoo, buy laundry detergent). Kitchen area with stove, oven, microwave, small refrigerator/freezer, dishes and utensils more than adequate for the limited cooking you are likely to do.

Recommend for one couple or with kids on the pullout – not two couples. Pack-n-play also.

Iron, ironing board, washing machine, no dryer but drying rack worked well with with our mostly quick drying clothes, Umbrellas, hair dryer, books, DVDs, high chair, small TV, towels, fans and even a beach umbrella under the bed!

Grocery store 10 minutes, go past Cathedral tram stop. Several boulangerie nearby, numerous convenience stores. Promenade de Anglais and beach 10 minute walk. Port 20 minute walk. Easy access to many, many restaurants including L’Ecurie next to doorway.

All else we could hope for would be a balcony, probably a rarity in Old Town Nice.

Soper Apartment in Excellent Location

Most impressive apartment in an excellent location in the Old Town of Nice. The booking process was easy and the owner was very flexible about check in/check out times, so useful when you have a late flight. Situated in a quiet street with excellent, local restaurants. We have already booked to stay again in May. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment.

Compact yet roomy stay in old town of Nice

Location & Description: Stayed for 4 nights with my dad. It is a refurbished apartment on the 2nd floor in a very old building, easy to find and liked the fact that strolling in old town Nice was so convenient. As was taking the tram and public buses (all a short walk away). The owner gave quite a few suggestions for lunch/dinner which worked well for us.

Apartment & amenities: Bed was comfortable, but the sofa bed could use an extra mattress filling. The building however is next doors to restaurants and bars, so it stays noisy till quite a large part of the night (even if all the windows are shut!). I wish the windows were proper sound-proof ones. One night there was a party going on till 2am upstairs in another apartment so really difficult to sleep. We however did not let that dampen our spirits. Liquid hand wash was provided along with extra towels and toilet paper, which was great. I would request the owner to maybe also provide a few extra toiletries (especially for short-stay travelers) for example tissue box. Just a suggestion, to make things more convenient.

Overall: I think the apartment worked out well for us and I will definitely recommend it to others. Good value for money

Excellent!

From the moment we walked into the apartment, we loved it! It is so cosy, clean and you have everything you need for your stay. It is very central and although it is central, we didn't hear any noise from the street at all once we closed the windows for the evening. A great bar for drinks and cheese/meat platter is Les Distilleries. it is a very old style bar, but friendly and great service. We will be back to this apartment and Nice!

There are a wide range of restaurants on your doorstep in the Old Town along with traditional bakers, butchers and the famous farmers market on the Cours Saleya.
