Casa da Arga is a fully restored and rebuilt, typical Minho farmhouse built of granite with traditional wooden vaulted ceilings which keep the house wonderfully cool in the summer. Central heating and a traditional wood burning stove keep things warm and cosy in the cooler winter months. The main house has 3 bedrooms while the fourth bedroom is located in the adjacent annex which also has a kitchenette and washing machine, ideal for anyone who prefers a little of their own space. The landscaped gardens are arranged over several terraces giving ample room for play areas, quiet reading corners and car parking. The swimming pool is situated next to the open plan living/kitchen area, accessed by two pairs of double doors and allowing easy supervision of younger guests from either the villa or the terrace.

Lovely villa in fantastic location

This is a lovely villa, clean and well- maintained with a fantastic pool and in a fabulous location between the sea and the national park. There are lots of towns nearby, Ponte de Lima being closest which has an impressive Roman bridge and cafes in abundance where we spent many mornings with a beer/coffee watching the world go by. There are lots of places to visit; beaches, we loved Praia d'Ancora (Gelfa?) which has a lovely restaurant Camarao looking out over the sea, towns such as Caminha and Ponte de Barca, castles, churches- Santa Luzia above Viana has amazing views as does Bom Jesus near Braga which is well worth a visit. The area doesn't feel remotely touristy and there were very few English voices to be heard! Altogether a lovely place to stay, I would certainly recommend it and would love to return!

Only 50 mins from Porto airport, the property is in a peaceful village location with amazing views and great access to surrounding historic towns and villages and stunning beaches. The national park is only 20 km away and the panoramic Serra d"Arga mountain range is just to the north so nature lovers and walkers are all well catered for too. Add to this the fact that the region is still very affordable compared to more commercialised destinations and you can't really go wrong!

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible depending on the time of year.

25% of the fee is payable on booking with the balance due 6 weeks before arrival, both to be paid into our Portuguese bank account. The security deposit can be either paid by credit card, cash on arrival or paid to our UK bank account, whichever is preferred by the guest.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

Casa da Arga is a newly rebuilt former farmhouse which has been finished to a very high standard with all the modern facilities you would expect in a holiday villa. All rooms are en-suite and there is also a fabulous large swimming pool with stunning views across the valley. The separate 1 bedroom cottage is also ideal for those who like a bit of their own space.
