Holiday Home in Kingsteignton - Perfect Base For Dartmoor National Park, Teignmouth, Paignton, Torquay, Dawlish, Golf Course 10 Min

An attractive detached property providing easy access to all the coastal resorts from Teignouth and Dawlish to Torquay and the perfect base for exploring Dartmoor National Park. Computer with internet access in the dining room. Two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are on the ground floor, ideal for our less mobile visitors. Local attractions include walking distance to Newton Abbot Race Course, the River Dart Country Park, South Devon Railway in Totnes and Paignton, Stove Golf Course, and the small fishing village of Shaldon with spectacular views over the River Teign. There are many pretty villages in the area with good pubs serving excellent food. The house is just an up-hill stroll from the village of Kingsteignton which has local shops, pubs, small Tesco and a petrol garage. The market town of Newton Abbot is a 10 minute drive and historic Exeter and Plymouth are 25 minutes away.

I live in Kent but have been travelling down to Devon for the last 30 years to visit family. I have owned Plumb Corner for over 15 years and often visit for time out! It's a very restful house.

Although I'm not on the spot, Plumb Corner has it's own caretaker who lives 5 minutes away and is available to help with any queries or problems.

a stunning property

I came to visit my son who lives locally. Plumb corner was a beautiful place to stay warm,comfortable and exceptionally well equipped. It was well placed to go to anywhere in Devon and Cornwall.. Can't wait to return some day in 2015

From the Owner

Plumb Corner is just off the A381, on top of a hill and a short walk down the hill brings you to the village of Kingsteignton. It's a busy, pretty village with a lovely church, 3 pubs, a small Tesco and garage. The Dartmoors - with all they have to offer, the seaside town of Teignmouth and the fishing village of Shaldon are all within 20 minutes drive. Slightly further afield are Torquay, Paignton and the historic towns of Plymouth and Exeter.

Fabulous coastlines and golden sandy beaches - not to menton more than its fair share of sunshine - combine to make Devon a perennial favourite among holidaymakers. Often overlooked, East Devon is a land of rolling, wooded hills and valleys and the the most impressive beaches. Driving times to: Teignmouth beach - 10 minutes. Shaldon beach - 15 minutes. Paignton beach 20 minutes - Torquay beach 20 minutes.


Nearest airport is Exeter. Ports: Plymouth is 30 miles. A car would be useful - however, there are good regular bus services nearby going to Torquay (20 mins), Exeter (30 mins) Newton Abbott (10 mins).


A steep uphill stroll from the village of Kingsteignton which has local shops and pubs. The bustling market town of Newton Abbot (Market Day is Wednesday) is a 10 min drive and Torquay and the beautiful Babbacombe coastline is a 20 min drive. Kingsteignton is just outside Newton Abbot and Dartmoor, with its high granite tors and beautiful wooded valleys of the Teign, Bovey and Dart rivers is within 20 minutes drive of the house.

Further Details:

Local attractions include Dartmoor National Park, the River Dart Country Park, South Devon Railway and the beautiful river trip to Dartmouth from Totnes, and the picturesque village of Shaldon with many pubs and restaurants. Torquay and the "English Riviera" is 20 minutes drive from the house although it's just as easy to get the 'country bus' just outside Plumb Corner to Torquay and, after an afternoon shopping or an evening night clubbing, get a taxi back to the house. You will be surprised by the continental atmosphere of this stretch of coastline, with its 18 beaches and secluded coves. The mild climate and luxuriant, sub-tropical vegetation, together with all the amenities and facilities you would expect, make this a superb place to visit.

  • Notes on accommodation: Ground floor: entrance to the house is through the spacious Sun Room with comfortable chairs - just the place to watch the sun go down! From the large hall there are 2 bedrooms; 1 king-size bedded room and 1 family room with a double bed and a single bed. The sitting room (with cable TV) looks out over the front garden and sliding doors open into the dining with room (includes a desk with broadband connection). French windows lead out onto the patio and large back garden. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom (with bath, basin and shower) and separate WC. The spacious kitchen at the rear of the house, with large kitchen table, overlooks the back garden. Leading off the kitchen is a scullery housing the washing machine, tumble drier, garden sink and separate WC; the door from the scullery leads to the garden. The house is centrally heated throughout. First floor: light, airy upstairs bedroom with bunk beds - an ideal bedroom for children. New shower room with basin and WC. Outside: There are gardens on 3-sides of the house which include large lawns, fruit trees and flower beds. The rear garden can be made secure for small children and there is some garden play equipment. There's parking for 3 cars in the drive. The patio has garden furniture and can be accessed from both the Dining Room and the Scullery (Utility Room). Outside lights are provided in the back gardens and drive. Utility Room: Airy room with 2 windows and door leading out to garden. Washing machine, tumble dryer, separate WC and large sink. Cupboard housing brooms, cleaning materials, etc. and garden umbrella. Also a ceiling pulley clothes airer - ideal for drying beach towels. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen can be hired for £15 per person; this includes under sheet, duvet cover, 2 pillowcases, bath towel & hand towel - or you can bring your own. Property is cleaned weekly. Plumb Corner's caretaker lives 5 minutes from the house and is easily contacted. Other: There is a pretty sun room at the front of the property which is lovely place to sit and relax. It is nicely decorated and has a sofa and comfortable chairs. The under-stairs cupboard stores the cot, high chair and ironing board and iron.
