In a peaceful rural setting within the Clwydian range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this charming 4 star graded, detached barn conversion offers a perfect location for enjoying the wonderful scenic walking and delightful market towns of Mold and Ruthin,a very pretty corner of wales, perfect for exhilarating outdoor activities, mountain scenery and great family attractions. Less energetic pleasures can be pursued in the historic city of Chester with its famous zoo, fine selection of shops, MacArthur Glenn designer outlet, Blue Planet aquarium and good restaurants. Loggerheads country park, Offa's dyke long distance footpath. Coarse and fly fishing on several local lakes and on the world famous River Dee. Several golf courses and Coed Llandegla mountain bike centre are all found nearby. Shop and Community run pub in the village approx 10 mins walk.

About Frank & Lynn Hill

We have lived in Llanarmon Yn Ial for nearly 26 years now. We have two young children Nia 11 and Oliver 8. They both go to the local school. We are adrenaline junkies and are quite often out kite surfing, kayaking, paragliding or climbing. Any advice wanted just ask.

Why Frank & Lynn Hill chose Llandegla

Ty Gylfinir (Curlew Cottage), the cottage you will be staying in, used to be an old joiners shop making wheels and wooden gears for the surrounding mills and lead mines that proliferated the area.

We have travelled extensively and stayed in various degrees of accommodation so when we converted the building we put into it all the things that we thought a client may like and used our own experience to get it 'just right'.

Our own cottage is just over the road from Ty Gylfinir so if there are any problems we are on hand to help. We moved to the area as it is very central to all amenities but still with a very rural environment.

What makes this cottage unique

Whilst staying at Ty Gylfinir you can enjoy the rural area and still be less that 20 minutes from the cultural and bustling cities of Chester and Wrexham.

Llangollen with its annual International Eisteddfordd is but a 15 minute drive away.

10 minutes walk takes you to our local pub The Raven which serves excellent real ales along with the best fish and chips anywhere, (they also serve a full menu)

There is ample parking for two cars at Ty Gylfinir

The garden is fully enclosed so you can allow your children to play, however there is also a larger area for the older ones with ample room to kick a football around or just wander and chill out.

Notes on accommodation: Centrally heated throughout. Child friendly. Absolutely no smoking. Dogs welcome on request. Outside: Large secure private garden with tables and chairs, gas barbecue. Beyond the private garden is a further larger garden with a pond, a stream and a tree house! where guests are free to wander and explore. Parking for 2 cars. There is also storage for bikes. Utility Room: Washing machine, storage for boots and wet gear. Further storage for cycles and wet muddy gear available on request. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Quality hand and bath towels along with bedding provided, as are tea towels, toilet rolls, dish washing liquid etc. Free use of travel cot and high chair available on request. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board provided.

Great cottage in ideal surroundings and location

This holiday cottage was everything and more for our holiday. Clean, spacious and in an ideal location. We were in an ideal place for re-visiting old haunts in North Wales and discovering new places in Denbighshire. We would recommend this beautiful cottage and would love to go back again.

Great cottage in a lovely village location

Cottage is surprisingly spacious and well laid out inside. All facilities in good working order. Secure garden area is ideal for small children and dog. Short walk to village centre with great pub and local shop. Owners very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Kids loved it - I need say no more (but I will!)

What a lovely weekend. From the moment we arrived at Frank and Lynn's cottage we felt very welcome, and the fully equipped clean and modern accommodation meant an enjoyable, albeit short stay, in a beautiful location. We arrived late on the Friday night and access to the property was a breeze (although we did drive straight past it first time around!). Once inside there was that instant feel of 'yes, this is nice - we'll be happy here for our little visit'. There was plenty of space, indoors and out, for the four of us (myself and three children), and it all just felt very safe. The location of the cottage meant that we were able to enjoy the glorious sunshine from the moment we woke up until late into the evening, and we took advantage of the numerous games that the kids found in the cupboards (mainly boule!). I would instantly recommend this accommodation to anybody looking in the area, with or without a family. Thank you for having us Frank & family (including Angus the dog!)

Beautiful cottage with stunning scenery.

Nice and secluded, but close enough to towns and villages to get what you need. We have a lovely time and would definitely go again.

We stayed for a week in August, it was a home from home.

It's situated in a great location offering, both, a peaceful get away, or, if your really up for it, action packed days out.

I would recommend this lovely cottage to anyone wanting a holiday in Wales.

Cosy cottage near a lovely village

The cottage is lovely, fully equipped kitchen , great garden space , kiddies loved going out there kicking the ball around . Great views from the little court yard where we sat and had breakfast in the morning sun, the weather was lovely too. Loggerheads park nearby was a great favourite with the kiddies too. Do visit the the Raven pub in the village the meal we had there on the Saturday night was lovely.

Frank was on hand if we needed anything but the cottage has got everything covered. Will return x

Most of the North Wales coast can be reached within 30-40 minutes drive.


Both Manchester and Liverpool airports are less than 1 hour away. A car is recommended to get the full benefit of the area.


Llanarmon village is 10 minutes walk, 1 minute by car. Llangollen 15 minutes

Chester, Wrexham 20 mins. Liverpool and Manchester 1 hour of easy driving
