Brookrow is a hamlet nestling in the South Shropshire hills on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and is close to Ludlow, Cleobury Mortimer, and Tenbury Wells. It is ideally suited for people seeking a tranquil location, yet within easy reach of a wide range of attractions. The Old Cottage at Brookrow is a beautifully restored, "black and white" oak framed cottage bursting with period features and antiques but incorporating all the modern comforts for two or three people. It has one double and one single bedroom. Croft Cottage at Brookrow provides single storey accommodation and has one double bedroom. Both properties are tastefully decorated, well equipped and each benefits from wood burning stoves and private gardens. This is great walking country but for the less energetic there are many attractions within easy reach by car.

Croft Cottage provided us with the perfect, secluded spot to explore the surrounding Shropshire towns and countryside. It provided everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and we were able to eat out on the patio enjoying the birdlife in perfect privacy. Excellent value for money and very friendly hosts.
Quitest and cleanest cottage ever
The cottage is well stocked with everything needed for self catering, and
without the chintz that is often experienced in holiday cottages. A very
peaceful location with no noise at all, night and day. This was an
extremely good value stay. The welcome and assistance provided by the
owners was exemplary. I would strongly recommend this to people who want to escape from it all, and a car is essential as there are no amenities
within walking distance.
Croft Cottage is just perfect, we have stayed here for the last four years and it just gets better every time. The location is just right - near enough to towns for all your needs and in the quiet countryside to be just a peaceful retreat. We enjoyed just being able to chill out and enjoy the country and the wildlife with no traffic noise, just the birds. The cottage has everything you need to make it a perfect home from home, in fact it is a great place to holiday, don't think there's anything missing and the cottage is spotlessly clean. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble if you need them, the only thing they can't order is the weather!! but it's usually good anyway.
We enjoy gardens and national trust properties and Croft is an excellent base to explore from, Ludlow, Hereford, and Shrewsbury are all handy to visit as are the smaller local towns. The views from the Clee Hills have to be seen to be believed.
We had a great week, in this super cottage. The grounds, shared with the main house, are stunning, whilst you feel that you on your own. The surrounding area is beautiful, a new area for us, with lots of market towns to visit. Judi and Rob, are good hosts, but are very unobtrusive. I have to be greatful, that Rob went to rescue my husband, when he got lost walking, on our first night there !!
A Little Gem!
Croft Cottage is an absolute gem of a find! We’d just driven from Cornwall and turned off the road at Tenbury Wells heading to Cleehill; after a short distance we’d taken turning signposted Coreley. As we dropped down into the valley (having waited a few moments whilst the cows were ushered up the lane and into the nearby farm for milking) we found Croft Cottage, nestled next to a stream and surrounded by fields and trees with magnificent view of the hills behind Cleehill in the distance.
Croft Cottage is small but perfectly formed and had everything you could think of provided to make our stay a cosy and comfy one. It was spotlessly clean with lovely little touches – even fresh flowers.
Rob and Judy were (and are) the perfect hosts in every way, friendly and discreet and full of information on the area. Nothing was too much trouble. They’ll give you any advice if you need it but are happy to let you do your own thing without intruding.
We thought we would eat out most nights, but we were more than happy, after a day exploring, to come back to the cottage and cook a meal, settling down with a nice glass of wine and just relaxing. The cottage has its own private driveway and the patio just outside the bedroom is a veritable suntrap - ideal for breakfast al fresco (weather permitting of course), an afternoon cuppa or perhaps something slightly stronger.
An excellent base for walking and exploring we, loved nearby Ludlow, both for the shops, and the history – a visit to the castle is a must! Stokesay Castle is fantastic and transports you back in time with an excellent audio tour– and you can make a day of it as there are some lovely walks starting at the Castle. Clun is another pretty village we enjoyed visiting.
We’d asked Rob’s advice on a garden to visit – and he came up trumps in suggesting Stockton Bury Gardens – a few happy hours were spent not only enjoying the plants and ambience, but making plans for our own patch at home; the day was rounded off nicely by tea and scrumptious cake in the Tithe Barn Restaurant – happy days!
All in all, a lovely holiday with lots of happy memories. We will be back when we next visit the area, we wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else. We hope you love it as much as we did!
A real getaway holiday in a beautiful clean, comfortable cottage in a quiet rural location. There are many interesting places to visit. We particularly enjoyed Ludlow with its local market and food shops and Stokesay Castle. Can recommend The Green Cafe in Ludlow and The Talbot Inn at Newnham Bridge for meals. The quiet country lanes around the cottage were a joy to wander picking blackberries and just "chilling". The owners Judi and Rob were really kind and went out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone. Many thanks!
