About the Owner

We have holidayed in France for many years and moved here in 2002 with our young children, who are now teenagers. The space, the empty roads, the welcoming locals, beautiful coastline and, of course, cuisine, were all strong reasons for the decision to make our home here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"A room with a view!"

"What a little gem of a place, overlooking an attractive square that transports you back in time. Dinan was a revelation to us and we really struck lucky for our short stay. The apartment was neat and tidy, convenient for the numerous local restaurants and a stroll down the cobbled streets to the attractive port area. We would not hesitate in recommending the apartment"

David Hart, Hexham, UK.

"A perfect location for a visit to a perfect town". Clare Crosthwait, Vancouver, Canada.

"Incredible location, charming apartment, fantastic experience!

We had the privilege of staying in this apartment for 6 nights and our only regret is that we didn't book for longer. You wouldn't believe how perfect the location is, right in the medieval centre of Dinan -it is literally page 1, paragraph 1 of the guide book! We spent many hours people-watching from our window with a view that was quite breathtaking".

A Gem in the perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

Situated on the corner of a busy square in Dinan. A door off the street leads to an ancient staircase sweeping up to the 1st floor and the entrance to this great little apartment. Everything we needed was here but probably just the Windows would be enough, leaning out watching the world go by was great. A busy Boulangerie a few paces away opposite the Church provided a good start to the day. Parking the car on Rue Yves Guyot 400mtrs away worked best for us. The beach at St Lunaire is a great town beach or the longer trip to the beaches at Cap Frehel more than worth it. Follow that with an evening exploring Dinan after a meal at a myriad choices of Creperie. Superb. Do not miss visiting the Jardin du Cockerel which is found when wandering along the Ramparts. We had a wonderful holiday based in this lovely little apartment. Thanks.

Excellent Apartment in a Fantastic Town

  • 5 of 5

Dinan is an amazing medieval town and this apartment is located right in

the heart of it. Dinan is full of things to do. We

would have loved to have stayed longer. The apartment has a fabulous

location overlooking a square. We loved people watching

when we were "at home". The apartment is wonderful, warm and welcoming. It

has everything you need (although I would have

appreciated WiFi and a clothes washer.)

The host, Mike Scanlon, was wonderful. He met us, gave great tips on

parking, restaurants, local sights and where to find Guinness on tap! He

was very helpful and informative.

All in all, our stay here was fantastic and the apartment was a large part

of that. I would highly recommend this town and

this apartment!

Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderfully relaxing week in Dinan at the end of July. The apartment is located in a central location in the beautiful historic part of the town, within easy walking distance of restaurants and cafés. The host, Mike, met us on arrival and was very welcoming and informative.

With many interesting places to see within a short distance of Dinan, including St Malo and Le Mont-Saint-Michel, as well as cycling along La Rance, you will struggle to run out of things to do!

Perfect Spot

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely little apartment in the middle of the stunning old town of Dinan. Very comfortable & had everything we needed. Great walks around the cobbled streets, around the ramparts & along the river or by bus to the wide sandy beaches to the north. Very helpful host, would definitely recommend.

Fabulous apartment

A gem of a place to stay. Beautifully presented with all amenities. Central for Dinan and surrounding countryside. Dinan has a good bus service if you don't always want to use your car for trips. Helpful, responsive hosts. I loved being there.

Location

From the Owner

Dinan is simply the most attractive and best-preserved medieval town in Brittany (and so close to the port of St Malo and 2 airports). The port is extremely pretty with various boat trips available, up and down stream, in the summer months. There is a good choice of riverside restaurants and cafes. The vast number of beaches between Dinard to Pleneuf Val Andre are stunning and never crowded. Mont St Michel is only a straightforward 35 minute drive away.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dinard or Rennes at 25 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : St Malo at 30 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Dinard at 25 Kilometres Nearest Train : Dinan at 1 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Les Trois Lunes at 20 Metres Nearest Beach : St Jacot at 28 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

Historic interest. Dinan has a medieval history dating back to 12th century and it is renowned for being the best-preserved medieval citadel in Brittany, with ramparts dominating the skyline.

Coast/Beach:

Beautiful and numerous beaches abound on the coast directly north of Dinan at Dinard, St Lunaire, St Cast, St Jacut, Lancieux, St Briac to name just a few. The nearest is but 20 mins away by car.

There is a regular, and ridiculously cheap, bus service from Dinan (200 metres from the apartment) to Dinard via lovely villages on the river Rance, such as Taden, St Samson sur Rance, Plouer sur Rance and La Richardais.

Travel:

Car hire is not at all essential-there is a bus service from Pleurtuit (near Dinard airport which is 20 mins from the apartment and has routes from Stansted and East Midlands) to Dinan which would require a short taxi drive from the airport. Rennes airport (which is served by Flybe routes from Southampton, Dublin,Manchester,Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester) is only 40 mins from Dinan.

St Malo port 25 mins. Caen & Roscoff ports 110 mins. Le Havre port 150 mins

Calais 5 hrs.

Distances:

The apartment is in the heart of medieval Dinan and everything the town has to offer is within easy walking distance. The 'pleasure port' of Dinan can be reached in no time by walking down the historic cobbled Rue de Jerzual - the original centre of the trading port in the 13th century.

Further Details:

Two excellent restaurants are but a few yards away. Within 100 yards or so are gothic Eglise de St Malo and Basilica de St Sauveur.
