About the Owner

I have worked in tourism, in Greece since 1989 when I led and organized walking holidays in the white mountains of Crete.

I then worked as a "handy person" for a villa specialist and they asked me to work for them in Kefalonia as they needed someone who spoke Greek to help them to find more properties for their portfolio.

Since then I have worked for blue chip travel companies as a representative, then island manager.

During my involvement in working for these villa specialists I got an insight into the important things people require from their holiday accommodation.

Amigdalospito (Almond House) ticked all the boxes! We had been looking for the "right' place for a few years. The restoration was a vertical learning curve and was more hands on than you would ever imagine!

We had an amazing holiday in this wonderful villa. We had everything we could wish for and the location was perfect. There was a choice of outside sitting areas which had wonderful views over the village, mountains and sea. The sunsets were beautiful and the pool fantastic. The owner has maintained the villa incredibly well.

A 15 minute drive will take you to Fiskardo which is beautiful and there are also lovely little coves that are within 10 minutes drive of the villa. These also have some fantastic tavernas, one offering home cooked food which was excellent.

If you don't wish to use a car everyday then there are 2 village shops and 2 taverna's, one with live Greek music, these also serve lovely food.

We were made to feel very welcome and Susan and Karen couldn't have been more helpful with providing all the information we could ask for, I'd certainly take their recommendations on where to swim and eat.

Thanks for a fantastic holiday and we'll hopefully be returning.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review and we will translate for Kiriakos. He is working hard on his English since renting his villa and hopes all his guests enjoy the improvements he makes each year for their comfort and enjoyment of both his villa and island of Kefalonia.

From the Owner

Kiriakos Ferentinos, built his dream home only a few years ago and each year he works hard to maintain and improve the property. It is built on family land and has been carefully placed among mature olive, fruit trees and vines. The house is spacious and well planned with a wonderful pool, terrace and gardens. With plenty of off street parking and wireless internet in the house. I translate Kiriakos' emails for him as he is not confident in speaking and writing English. Being a part of the local community it is good to be of help! Also Kiriakos has been awarded the Greek Tourist Licence EOT.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Beaches within a 10-15 minute drive are Agia Gerousalim (with sunbeds and sea kayaks for hire) and a taverna with great home cooking. The small fishing village of Assos, lined with houses and a couple of tavernas and bars with a beach and imposing fortress. Alaties, Dafnoudi, Foki (south of Fiscardo) and Emblissi (NE of Fiscardo) are all about 10 minutes drive. A 20 minutes drive away is the famous Myrtos beach which is especially stunning when viewed from the northern cliffs above.

The airport is known as Kefalinia (EFL). It is just over 1 hours drive from Kiriako's house. Nearest port is Fiscardo with ferry links to Lefkas and Ithaca. Sami is 30 minutes drive with ferries to Ithaca, Patras on the Peloponese and Astakos on the mainland. Car hire is recommended which we can organise for you. Buses are infrequent and at unsociable hours. There is some lovely walking locally and taxis are relatively inexpensive.

Fiscardo is 8 kms, Assos 10 kms, Agia Efimia is 21 kms, Sami 30 kms with the famous Drogarati Cave and Melisani Lake nearby. Argostoli the capital is 46 kms with shops, tavernas and bars. The Archeological Museum and Korgialenio Historical and Folklore Museum are well worth a visit.

Further Details:

2 minutes walk away is the Taverna Vengera which sometimes has live Greek Bouzouki music. Makis Taverna, for good traditional home cooking and Alexia's Pizzeria are both 4 mins walk away. All these do a takeaway service. The village of Vasilikades also has a cafe/bar, supermarket, small corner shop (selling local meat!), Health Centre and petrol station. Fiscardo has shops, Tavernas and Supermarkets as well as cashpoints, post office, car/bike and boat hire. The picturesque waterfront village of Assos with a beautiful walk up to the fortress which overlooks the village and waterfront tavernas. The beach is great for children as it is shallow and sandy in the water, ideal for learning to swim.

From the Owner

This modern villa is set in its own grounds surrounded by mature trees in a beautiful rural setting near the village of Vasilikades. The amazing sunset views from the pool terrace and bedroom balconies are ever changing and memorable. There is a great barbecue area with lots of space and outside seating. It is a few minutes walk to a great taverna with good home cooking and similar sunset views. Close to Assos and Fiscardo it is a great base from which to tour the island.
