My husband and I moved to France 10 years ago and have been running Le Manoir since 2002. The testimonials and repeat bookings speak for themselves. We are in a good location. Close to Dinan, St Malo and Rennes. The beaches are unspoilt and the roads a delight to drive on. There is so much to do and so much to discover that your days can be as full or a quiet as you want them to be.
The heated swimming pool is in an enclosed area. We have electric gates to the property which makes it a safe place for little ones. Come and stay and experience the delights of Brittany and Le Manoir du Bourg in St Helen.
Joan crompton purchased this chateau / country house in 2002
We bought this property in 2002 and knew it would make an ideal holiday location. We are in the centre of a small village, St Helen, yet we are very close to Dinan with its many restaurants, shops and leisure activities. Dinard , about 30 minutes away, is on the coast and has an airport serviced by Ryan Air. The picturesque town of St Malo is about 30 minutes away and is the closest ferry port to Le Manoir. The capital, Rennes, is about 30 minutes away. So we are in a great location. The beaches are quiet and unspoilt. Our local beach even has its own resident seal that is often seen swimming with the children. Its a great place for walking and cycling. We have a tennis court adjacent and a fishing lake just a few minutes walk away. Its just a minutes walk to get your daily bread.

Our first visit was made delightful by Joan and Derek. The properties are beautiful and well maintained. Situated in quiet countryside near the historic town of Dinan - well worth visiting, also close to St Malo, Dinard and the Cotes d'Emeraud with its fantastic beaches. Safe and secure grounds for young children. Lovely pool and garden for older children to relax. We will be back!!
This was our second trip to Le Manoir, and we stayed in Les Puits this time.
First and foremost; Derek and Joan are superb hosts and are on hand to help and advise on anything (even answering to a small toddler banging on their door at 7.30am...). Les Puits is a great house; beautiful and has all you need. The grounds and excellent swimming pool are very will maintained and great for kids. Each house has its own private space around the courtyard - so you can keep to yourself or be communal if you want. The shared pool table is fun and the dedicated kids room is brilliant.
The area is stunning and offers plenty to do and see. Recommend the beach at Saint Cast (Pen Gwen) and eating at the viaduct in Dinan and Le Cale at Mordreuc.
Thanks Joan and Derek - see you again.
James, Hannah and Evie.
We had a lovely stay at le Manoir we were a group of nine friends
Hosts Joan and Derrick were lovely very helpful and available
Property was as advertised, well maintained the kitchen was well supplied Brittany had many places to visit, be prepared for rain I would definitely recommend for families and friends
Simply amazing. We stayed in Le Puits for one week wished we'd booked for two! Joan & Derek made us so welcome and the whole property is stunning. Spotlessly clean with well equipped kitchen. Waking up to birds singing and church bells ringing was so relaxing. The kids have their own "Kids only" play room/ TV room which they loved. There's plenty to do and see in the area, Dinan is beautiful and driving and parking are easy too. Would thoroughly recommend La Manoir you won't be sorry booking this one, but book early, some guests book year after year! We all loved everything about it.
We loved the house, the setting and the local area for our holiday with friends. Joan and Derek gave us a warm, friendly welcome. They were incredibly helpful, offering advice, introducing us to new games and ensuring all was well. We loved the social kitchen set around a huge dining table and opening onto the living room.
Many of us thought we might return.
Four generations of us, 12 in all, from 11 months to 91, with four children under 5, arrived hoping for some fun together. The house was spacious and accommodated us beautifully and Joan and Derek were wonderful hosts, intent on us enjoying our holiday, interested and cheerful but not at all intrusive. The pool was great and parents were able to escape to the pool table. The littlies had a games room where, after three days of rain, they hunkered down to DVDs and Derek's chips! Fabulous beaches within 20 mins drive, Dinan beautiful with great restaurants and markets. Lots of games played, yummy food demolished. Pity about the weather, but we still had a great time in spite of it! Would certainly recommend it to all.
