Orchard Barn is luxurious self catering accommodation, situated just off the South Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Orchard Barn is just a few miles from the historic city of Chichester and many attractions including the Goodwood Estate with its Horse Racing, Festival of Speed and the Revival, the historic Dock yard at Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to name a few. Orchard Barn is a beautiful converted Sussex flint barn with unique views of the downs and the surrounding area. There are many walks right on your doorstep and some challenging cycle rides for the more adventurous. Outside the barn are two patios with garden tables and chairs and a gas BBQ. There is under-floor heating throughout the ground floor of the barn. The hot water is heated by solar panels and we have also installed a rainwater harvester which is used to flush the toilets. The garden is fenced so it is safe for small children and dogs to roam.
My 7 friends and I have been going away for a short break for the past 12 years and try and find suitable accommodation that can sleep us all in separate beds and with as many bathrooms as possible. When researching this year's trip I almost overlooked Orchard Barn because it did not have two facilities we had experienced in previous years, a hot tub and within walking distance of a small town, but I am so very pleased not to have been put off!
We had arranged a supermarket delivery so when we got there we had no refreshments until it arrived, how welcome therefore was the cake and wine left for us, both were devoured before the delivery man turned up!
Orchard Barn was by far the cleanest and most comfortable accommodation we have experienced to date. Not too cavernous as some barn conversions can be, the area around the tv felt quite cozy as we enjoyed a few dvds after dinner. The kitchen is a lovely room to prepare and eat meals, we only used the second dining table in the lounge when we had a visiting caterer come and prepare and serve us a meal (pre-booked Bosham Catering, very good).
There was plenty of hot water so it was not too inconvenient that the two upstairs bedroom ensuites were bathrooms with no shower, I enjoyed having a relaxing bath every day when it is normally a quick shower and when I wanted a shower there were two downstairs to use. The ONLY thing I would say would have been an improvement was if the tap on the baths had shower attachments for hair washing, but this is a very minor point and did not spoil our stay in any way!
We will most certainly be returning as there is so much in the area we didn't see, we found it difficult leaving the comfort of the barn to go sightseeing!
What a place! Stunning barn conversion in beautiful countryside. We were welcomed with flowers, a home made cake and found wine and milk in the fridge. Very friendly owner who introduced herself to us just as we were cracking into the wine, nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful facilities, immaculately clean and very well equipped. My girlfriends and I enjoyed the surrounding area with a visit to Arundel and West Dean gardens. A fantastic walk through the Bluebell wood brought us to the Hare and hounds at Stoughton where we enjoyed a warm welcome and a fantastic Sunday lunch. All in all a most enjoyable weekend which We can not recommend highly enough.
This barn conversion is fabulous! Extremely spacious, yet cosy, high spec well thought out, spotlessly clean, well equipped, enclosed garden for young children and pets. We had our two small pooches with us and they loved sniffing around the garden and we were happy that they were safe. The kitchen has everything you would need and more. The beds are huge and comfy with crisp white sheets. Sleeps 8 people and more than enough room for everyone in the Living area and kitchen. We were there for Glorious Goodwood for the first time (which was also wonderful) and we have booked Orchard Barn again for same week next year already. The owners live next door and are perfectly lovely and helpful should you need them, otherwise you wouldn't know you had neighbours. Very tranquil, peaceful location and not far to Portsmouth, Brighton and everywhere in between. Great food at the White Horse, Chilgrove about 5 miles away. The wifi connection is very good for iPad users and there's a landline should you need it as phone coverage is iffy. You will not regret staying at Orchard Barn.
