Mid Terrace Cottage in Aberdovey, Gwynedd, Wales - Peaceful location, 5 minute walk to the beach and acess to footpaths for scenic walks.

This attractive three bedroom Welsh stone terraced cottage with its interior decor created by the local company Seld Design, is ideally situated on the edge of this beautiful village just 5 minutes’ walk from the centre, harbour and beach. With the Penhelig Arms Hotel close by and its wide selection of beers, wine and restaurant makes this cottage the obvious choice to stay. If a quality holiday is what you are after then look no further. The property has gas central heating on three floors, with a log burner for those cosy winter nights, after a stroll along the beach; it is both warm and very comfortable with ample seating on two leather sofas with throws and cushions to accommodate all. For those rainy days why not take advantage of Bose speaker .There are also a good selection of board games to keep the family entertained. We have sky TV for the rainy days and Wi-Fi for people that need to connect with business or relax and chat or discover the area on Google .

You can Pre-order your food from the local butcher to make your stay even more relaxing, or book yourself into some of the iconic local pubs and restaurants.

Great home from home

Great location for walking and taking the kids to the beach, with all the essentials needed and catered for. Owner of the property hospitable and the car park pass an added bonus and useful, wifi made my daughters week being able to keep in touch with friends. Close to all amenities with a wealth of leaflets and guides to help choose.

Accommodation clean and well presented all when the garden is finished will make the property even more desirable. A lovely stay will return and recommend to friends and family

Had everything we needed!

A nice cottage that had all that we required for our stay.

We do a lot of cooking so it was a pleasure to work in this kitchen as it was well equipped.

Car parking just around the corner, very handy.

Lovely property with character

We had a great holiday in Aberdovey. The property is situated opposite the railway, so really handy for trips up the coast to Barmouth etc ...a really scenic ride.

Lovely quality bed linen and towels, very comfortable bedrooms.

The kitchen and bathroom would benefit from extractor fans, minor points really, otherwise great place to stay.

Owner couldn't be more helpful.

Fabulous stay at Rose Cottage, Aberdovey

The property was everything it was promised to be- a gorgeous cottage in a beautiful Welsh seaside village. The house was cosy and comfortable,and beautifully maintained with ample room in its 3 bedrooms for a family or even 2 couples.

Great location- next door to a pub, and easy access to a station for exploration of the surrounding countryside - and even connections to Liverpool airport by rail. We will certainly visit again!

Wasn't as cosy or as good as other reviewers might have suggested

This property was a real mixed bag for us - some aspects were excellent others were less so.

First the plus points - Beds were comfy, bedding was high quality crisp white cotton. Shower was hot and powerful. Towels were large thick and fluffy.

Less good point - Heating. During our stay in early May the house was pretty cold. On arrival at 6.00pm the room thermostat in the living room read 12C. By bedtime, having had the heating on full blast and having burnt a bag of logs, the temp had got up to 18.5C - still not great. Next morning it was about the same, despite the heating having been on overnight. By the end of our 3 night stay, the temp had risen to 20C with heating left permanently on. There were a number of reasons for the heating problems. The very old, flimsy and poorly fitting front door opened directly from the street into the lounge and there were large air gaps at the top and down the sides. To improve matters we tried to block up the holes with an old blanket from our car! There was also an open vent in the kitchen, again off the lounge, and the wind came in there too! A further problem, the staircase is in the lounge and rises to the 2nd floor - so most of heat ended up there. The boiler seemed quite new but the system was poorly maintained as many radiators were half cold and full of air.

Other aspects: The 2nd floor bedroom was very attractive, bright and airy. The two 1st floor bedrooms - ditto.

The bathroom badly needs an extract fan as there are permanent condensation dribble marks down the walls and onto the floor. Some of the paintwork is flaking for the same reason. The “distressed” paint finish on the bathroom door was grubby where people have pushed the door to try to get it to shut properly - needs a better catch.

The living room is attractive but dark, partly through facing the high embankment up to the railway station but also through having inadequate lighting. The 2 sofas are comfortable, the TV works well and the wifi is quick and reliable.

The kitchen is well equipped but has a quirky layout with not a lot of worktop space. Like the lounge it is a bit dark as it backs on to a cliff which leads up to the garden. We didn’t venture up there as a number of the timber steps had totally collapsed!

The house was generally pretty clean but there were a few old dangly cobwebs and dusty bits.

Overall the property was ok but with just a little bit more investment, finishing off and TLC it could have been great.

Sorry to hear you had some negative points regarding the cottage .The heating system /boiler is brand new .We have now put instructions on how to use the thermostat in the lounge . We are addressing the rear of the garden currently in a major overhaul to add a beautiful place to sit with landscaping and fire pit estimated investment of £20,000 pounds so lets hope that it will be worth it and we can maximise the beautiful views up there.. A relaxing stay in Aberdovy

We had an amazing time in Aberdovy Cottage. Jayne was very helpful. It was handy for everything. We had a fantastic walk above Picnic Island in glorious sunshine! Aberdovy is a beautiful place to holiday and it's like stepping back in time. We would love to stay again sometime. Ynyshir Hotel was fantastic for an afternoon tea treat and there are many lovely places to eat out.

Its got a great homely feel, really comfortable happy space and great to be so near to the beach & Aberdovey centre.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Walking -countless walks in the area but some of the most popular are - Snowdonia, the banks of the Dysynni, Bird Rock, Talyllyn Lake, Dolgoch Falls, Cader Idris, Morfa Mawddach

Cycling - Cycle hire is available from Llanegryn or Tywyn. There are a number of off-road cycle routes.

Water Sports - Aberdyfi is an absolute paradise for water sports enthusiasts. The estuary is ideal for sailing, canoeing, sailboarding and water-skiing.

Fishing - Sea fishing can be enjoyed from the shore or on a fishing boat trip. Catches can be quite varied but mackerel, bream, pollock, skate and even sharks are quite common. The estuary is home to several types of flatfish and also the famous Aberdovey bass - the fighters of the fish world.

There simply isn't room to cover everything, but rest assured within the area are facilities for pony trekking, clay pigeon shooting, quad bike riding. There are several leisure centres within easy reach with the usual sports facilities and indoor swimming pools.


We invite you to come and experience the charm and tranquility of this ancient little seaport. This quaint little village is unspoiled with miles of clean golden sand and sheltered dunes. This is always a favorite with children whether they be innocently paddling, building sandcastles or crabbing off the jetty.

In the heart of the village you can browse the special boutiques and galleries and dine in some fantastic restaurants and inns. Alternatively you can just come to relax.


The train station is immediately opposite the cottage.

A 20 Minute Drive to Machynlleth- 10.5 miles

Just an hours drive to Aberystwyth- 28.9 miles
