Villa Ancora Lot 18c &19b

This is one of two modern luxury apartments at Villa Ancora and can be rented separately or as a pair for larger parties. Both apartments are beautifully furnished to a very high standard and offer a warm welcome to our guests. Both are ground floor with direct access to the shared pools, there is a secure child proof lockable gate between the private terraces, the pools and jaquzzi's. There is secure underground parking which keeps the vehicles cool in summer with a lift or alternatively spacious outside parking is available. The nearest beach is the award winning Praia de Dona Ana which can be reached by foot or car, there are numerous restaurants and bars in the area and the centre of the historic town of Lagos with its narrow cobbled streets and colourful market square is just a short walk away. Lagos offers a large variety of restaurants, bars and shopping. The area has a wealth of great beaches, natural attractions and golf courses. The new International Motor Race Track is only 30 minutes away.

Hi my name is John Barnard, I live and work in Norfolk, England with my wife and our pet dog Millie. Our two children have grown up now but still visit us regularly or decide to come home to stay for a while!. Having spent many golfing holidays on the Costa del Sol Spain we decided to visit the Algarve for the first time in 2006. We instantly fell in love with the country and its people, so much so that we decided to invest in property here in Lagos. We bought our first two brand new properties at Porto de Mos which were ready for rental in July 2008, our second two which are closer to the old town of Lagos and the Praia Dona Ana beach were new for the 2010 season. We would love you to share our experiences of this truly lovely area of the Algarve.

Why John Barnard chose Lagos

Villa Ancora is a new development in Porto de Mos but very close to the centre of Lagos, although not overlooking the sea, there are award winning beaches within easy walking distance as well as shops and restaurants. Lagos is one of the up and coming tourist destinations which is receiving serious investment in its infrastructure with improvments to its town centre and marina as well as the new motorway links to Faro airport.

What makes this apartment unique

The two apartments at Villa Ancora are closely linked so can sleep up to a maximum of 12 people. Beautifully furnished they offer a welcoming retreat should you be staying for a summer holiday, a long term winter let or an activity break. The apartments are managed for us locally by an English family Company (Algarve Accommodation Agency) meaning there is always someone on hand to meet and greet and help resolve any issues during your stay. Once you have decided to stay in one of the apartments the agency will issue a booking form, take secure deposits and take you through your reservation to completion.

Totally flexible. There is a small additional charge for a change over on a Sunday.

Notes on prices:
Prices are based on four people sharing an apartment and additional charges may be applied for extra persons. For stays of 10 days or more one mid term clean and laundry change is included. Prices include wifi. Apart from July, August and early September if you rent one apartment at full price for one week or more, you can rent the second similar apartment at half price for the same period. Discounts are available for long winter lets.

Notes on accommodation: The apartments are serviced by English agents based in Lagos who will make sure the apartments are clean and have the keys ready for you on your arrival. They will also try to take care of any problems you may experience during your stay. The apartments are fully air-conditioned with electric steel blinds to all double glazed windows and patio doors. There is a central vacuum system installed to all rooms. Outside: Both apartments have two patio areas, 19B has two patios facing the pool area whilst 18C has a patio to front and rear. Both apartments have built in BBQs. The private patios are fully furnished with table and chairs for alfresco dining and have sun loungers. There is a child proof lockable gate leading out onto the shared pool areas that have built in Jacuzzi’s and toilet/shower areas.

Big apartment next to the pool

We stayed a month in this apartment , in October. The pool wass lovely and clean and there were comfortable sunloungers to use. Our terrace was big and with good furniture and we used the grill several times. From the terrace we had direct access ro the pool by a small unlocked gate.

The apartment has solid wood furniture and are a bit datet but very functional. We were just two but with more people staying there, the kitchen need to be better equipped with cups, plates etc.

There was ample carparking just outside the house and easy access to wonderful walks along the sea. Overall a good stay.

Great location within walking distance of Lagos' restaurants and bars and several lovely beaches. Superb pool and lovely clean quiet complex. No car needed.

Home from Home in Lagos!!

This apartment was everything we could dream for our stay in Lagos. The location is superb, just outside the town centre, but a nice stroll to town Porto de Mos beach or the Marina.

The pool and jacuzzi was wonderful after a day at the beach.

The apartment is equipped with need during your stay.

It is a perfect base to travel to other resorts in the Algarve and we hired a car to visit the many villages and beaches during our stay including Lisbon.

We would highly recommend staying here for anyone who like to explore the local fishing villages, towns and beaches without large crowds and still enjoy the buzz of the restaurants and bars.

We're returning next year for more of the same !!

Fantastic Stay

We had a fantastic stay,the apartment is beautiful,the photos really don't do it justice.Openplan lounge and kitchen which is beautifully furnished and has every mod con you can think of including instruction manuals.Wifi is excellent important when you have teenagers!

Lovely main bedroom with ensuite and balcony.2nd bedroom also good with another bathroom directly opposite.Air con in all main rooms very good.Out from kitchen is another balcony with lovely large dining table and chairs which leads directly out onto pool area (lockable gate).Had pool to ourselves a lot of the time but was never that busy,also nice jacuzzi as well.

John was very helpful with our booking as were the agency he used who fixed a lightbulb very quickly during our stay when we asked.

Main part of Lagos is about 15 minute walk but very nearby 2 mins walk is aparthotel with restaurant (buffet and a la carte) and 5 min walk are 3 restaurants one quite posh one not so but food and 1 Chinese which was excellent,also small supermarket which stocked most things.

Overall an excellent stay and we are very tempted to return.The quality of the furnishings and decor is top-notch.

Lovely spacious apartment in a great location

We spent a most enjoyable 9 day break here (2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 10.) The apartment was easy to find, spacious, spotless and well equipped. The children really enjoyed the pool and the apartment received plenty of sunshine on the two terraces and poolside. We had a hire car and explored the local area, finding many lovely beaches and restaurants a short walk or drive away. We also took the train to Faro for a day. We would highly recommend a grotto boat trip from Lagos to explore the caves and coastline and we were very privileged to have dolphins jumping alongside our boat on the day we went. We had excellent communications with the owner and agent and would highly recommend the apartment and its location for family holidays.

Excellent Apartment

We have stayed in this apartment several times over the last few years on our own and with family including Grandchildren. This is a beautiful, modern well equipped and maintained apartment.

It is within walking distance of Lagos with it's great atmosphere restaurants and cafes. Also close by is the family friendly beach of Porto D Moss with it's excellent fish restaurant altogether a great location.

We would highly recommend the Ancora Apartment we have always had a great time in comfortable safe surroundings

Its only a 5 minute walk or drive to the award winning Praia de Dona Ana beach where you can also enjoy a snack or cool drink.

The area boasts some great beaches at Meia Praia and Port de Mos. A visit to the lighthouse on the peninsula at Ponta Da Piedade is also well worthwhile.


The nearest International Airport is at Faro about 75km away and takes about 50 minutes by car via the A22 dual carriageway. Many major airports offer flights to and from Faro (budget airlines included). The whole of the Algarve is very easy to navigate and the best way to travel is by hire car. A hire car is easy to arrange and most useful if staying at the apartments for exploring the area, shopping at local supermarkets etc. A visit to the restaurants and bars in Lagos is possible by foot.


All approximate distances: 10 miles / 16km. Historic town of Lagos just 0.75km away. Faro 80km. Faro Airport 75km. Albufeira 50km. Villamoura 60km. Spain 120km.
