Apartment Dar il-hena which translates to ‘house of peace’ brings a touch of luxury to self catering accommodation on Malta. With use of a shared pool and views to Ghardria Bay, Malta's longest beach, the apartment is well placed for those wanting to simply relax or visit Malta's many sites. Three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Well equipped. Served with a lift which goes down to the underground garage. The bus stop is a short walk away so car hire is not essential.

DO NOT TAKE ANY NOTICE of this - we respond to all enquiries personally and in the order that we receive them. We work full time so a 24 hour turn around is not always possible

About Kevin Weaver

We have been taking holidays in the Maltese Islands for 15 years and have our own apartment on Gozo. We felt there was a gap in the market for luxury self catering accommodation and that is what our apartment delivers.

Why Kevin Weaver chose Għadira

Our first holidays in Malta were in Mellehia. It has a lovely beach, banks, restaurants, butchers, fishmonger and supermarkets. The local church, perched on the hill is beautiful. Whilst it has everything you need, it hasn't lost any of it's local charm.

It is a 45 minute drive from the airport and close to the port and the ferry to Gozo. Places to visit can be reached by a great bus service. The Maltese are friendly, speak English and they drive on the left.

Tas Sellum is traffic free making it ideal for children. The view from the shared pool and the apartment is across the bay.

Parking can be a problem in Malta but with the development we purchased a garage to overcome this. The garage is right beside the lift, making it easy for disabled visitors.

What makes this apartment unique

Having 3 bathrooms, it makes it ideal for either family groups or friends. Two of the bedrooms have balconies with a bistro table and chairs. The air-conditioning cools in the summer and heats in the winter. For those who enjoy cooking, the kitchen, built by a craftsman from Gozo, is well equipped. A travel cot, baby bath, intercom and high chair are provided for little ones. There is a 6 seater outside table over looking the shared pool. Each bedroom has solid wood furniture and the bedlinen is Egyptian cotton. Fluffy bath towels are provided along the beach towels. A complementary wash bag, 1 per bedroom, included which contains basic items like deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, soap and shower gel so if you only want to travel with hand luggage, you can. Use of bath robes is provided.

This has to be a 5 star holiday holiday apartment. I can't say it's home from home, because it was BETTER than home! Every thing you could think of is provided and to the highest standard. Notes on accommodation: Pool towels and bathrobes are provided for use during your stay. A complementary wash bag (1 per couple) is provided. It contains items like soap, shower gel, flannels, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shower caps, shoe shine and combs. So if you want to travel with just hand luggage you can. Complementary slippers are also provided. A food pack containing water, bread, milk, tea, coffee, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beers, toilet rolls and wine is provided. Outside: The main balcony is a good size with a wooden gate legged table and six chairs. The master and second bedrooms have small balconies each with a bistro set seating 2. There are chairs and sunbeds to take down to the shared pool. Acrylic plates and glasses are supplied for use round the pool area. The complex rules state no glassware is to be used by the pool. BBQ's are not permitted anywhere on the complex Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment is cleaned and the bed linen and towels are changed weekly. Further cleaning can be arranged at an additional cost. Other: The lounge area leads to patios doors to the balcony with views over the sea and shared pool. The lounge, dining and kitchen area are open plan giving a nice open airy feel.

Clean, bigger and nice than the photos show. Has everything you need and good sea views.

The photos don't do this apartment justice. It's huge! Has Everthing you could need. The views are gorgeous. Close to local amenities. We were very late arriving so it was fantastic to be greeted with ham,cheese, bread, milk, water, tea, coffee and wine. We also each received a pack of toiletries which was a great touch. Really thoughtful. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Beyond expectation.

We had read reviews of this property but our expectations were still exceeded! We had food enough to feed us a full day if needed, along with wine and beer, very generous. The rooms were spacious and all clean and welcoming. The kitchen was well equipped if planning to cook, the three bathrooms were clean and good size, and again very generous supplies of toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors and shower gel.

We had booked transport from airport and the taxi was waiting for us, along with the prpoerty manager who ensured we knew where everything was, despite our arrival being at a very late hour ( or early?)

The weather wasnt quite as good as expected however we were well entertained with family games and dvds in the apartment. We found local restaurants very good despite being early season, and 10 min walk along sea front. Several small shops sold food if wanting to cook.

Fantastic holiday!

Large, clean and spacious apartment with great views over the bay. Facilities second to none, welcome pack provided is a very nice touch especially if arriving in the evening. Great access to bus routes. Would not hesitate to stay for any future holiday in Malta.

Up to the usual high standard

The owner has a number of property's and I have stayed in two in Malta. This the latest is another example of the high standards this's owner sets. The appartment has everything and more. Equipped with everything for a family of six even though just my wife and I we enjoyed the space. Every appliance, linens, beach towels beach chairs, sun beds the list goes on. Would be great for young children,high chairs cots baby bath this place has the lot. Add to that a garage, sea views, air con,books,games,DVDs. We learned from past experience and didn't bring basic toiletries as they were contained in the luxuary bags provided which included tooth paste soap shampoo shower gel deodorant razors comb and so many things you don't need to bring. Piling on the joy the not so basic grocery welcome pack means no matter how late you arrive you will more than survive until you can get to the shops.

So now the bad bits, it was only two weeks and it went all too quickly.

Enough about the appartment, the site is great, clean, secure with a great pool if you don't want a five minute walk to the beach. Have breakfast on the balcony overlooking the bay or breakfast in anyone of the great selection of beach bars.

Boat trips,diving and water sports all nearby so if you want adventure or if like us,a bit of culture, and a lot of peace and quiet you will find it here or nearby. Another great holiday

Great Apartment

A great apartment located in the scenic bay of Mellieha. The apartment was well looked after, spacious, and clean and tidy. The welcome pack of food was a lovely touch, and a lifesaver when the main supermarkets are closed on a a Sunday. The local agent is on hand to greet you. The Owner is very helpful and happy to answer questions.

In the winter season the apartment and village were nice and quiet. Mainly locals in the village, if you want to see the real Malta.

Nice coastal walks to be enjoyed and worth a trip to the capital Valletta and the new National Aquarium.

Malta's longest beach at Ghardira Bay is a 20 minute stroll away. Here you will find sunbeds and umbrellas and water sports are available. There is car parking along the beach road. Other beaches like Golden Bay are a short drive away.The Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk are worth visiting. A short bus or car journey takes you to the port for a ferry crossing to Gozo. Taxis and buses leave Gozo harbour as does the sightseeing bus. The Azure Window, Xlendi and Ramla Bay all have places to eat.


Luqa airport is a 45 minute drive away. A car is recommended for guests with mobility problems if they want to go out and about. The Gozo ferry is a short bus ride away. By car, the journey time is 15 minutes. The ferry crossing is 20 minutes. From Valletta around 45 minutes by car, you can take a trip to Scilly or a sea plane excursion to view the islands from the air. Car hire is not essential but recommended for those with poor mobility.


Bars and restaurants are a 15 minute stroll away. Further eateries can be found up the steep hill a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by bus; where you will also find banks, supermarkets, butchers, bakers, fishmonger and pharmacies.

Many places can be reached via the Malta sightseeing bus which offers a hop on, hop off service with north and south routes available.

The old style buses have been changed to new air conditioned ones - not so charming but they do offer better coverage of the island.

Further Details:

The local buses provide a frequent service and cost effective way to see the Island. Some of the older buses had been retained and relive the charm of yesteryear. A 5 day unlimited bus ticket costs around 12.00 Euros.

Changeover day is flexible to allow guests to take advantage of cheaper mid week flights. There are no check in / check out times - the apartment is available from the time you arrive until the time you depart.

All prices are in UK Sterling. Prices are per week. Stays across price bands will be calculated pro-rata on the bands in which the dates fall. We are not the cheapest but we aim to provide the best! Cancellation Policy: We will attempt to re let the property, possibly at a discount.
