Very pleased with the cottage and the village of Chirche-lovely views of both the mountains and the coast including views of La Gomera-lots of information provided about local walks and recommended restaurants etc-Romero Brasas in Chirche and Las Goteras in Tejina are both worth a visit-the quality of the meat is excellent but you need a good appetite to cope with the generous helpings-go up the hill past EL Mirador-closest place to eat but closes at 8 PM-and you can access the road towards El Teide to the right or go left towards the NW. coast-Alcala is a pretty local resort-small but with a sheltered beach and a selection of restaurants and bars-good for swimming and snorkeling-if you want to buy good quality meat for BBQs the butcher on the main street in Alcala is good place to buy

No welcome!

  • 3 of 5

We arrived halfway up the mountain to find that the only supermarket closed at three and not even a drop of milk had been put in the fridge so that we could at least have a cup of tea. No contact from the owners until I contacted them midweek and no emergency telephone numbers left for us in case of accident or illness.

As the property is for sale I guess interest in the visitor has waned.

Owner's Response: The only true comment in this review is that there was no emergency telephone information left which is normally with the very comprehensive list of useful information left in the cottage and on this occasion was missing. However, this client, had my email address which she used to let me know of the missing information and a broken light bulb.My husband and I went to the cottage and replaced the bulb within two hours of receiving it and I apologised for the lack of an emergency number and left one. We do not normally meet and greet our guests but do send detailed direction information along with photos and code for the security box containing the keys, this is so that clients can arrive at whatever time they wish and has been successful. This cottage is rented on a self catering basis but if a client requests for items to be awaiting them I am more than glad to purchase them and have done so on numerous occasions. There are three large supermarkets and several small ones in Guia ,the large ones were open on the arrival day until 9p.m.The smaller ones do have the usual siesta closing time .There was also three types of tea, coffee, sugar and all condiments already in the kitchen free of charge. The village is not halfway up the mountain ,it is uphill from the coast but so is everything in Tenerife that's the profile of the island! The mountain starts at Boca Tauce which I several kilometres away. I absolutely and totally refute the final statement that we have lost interest in our guests due to the property being for sale.Take a look at the previous clients who stayed there and left on the very day this client arrived. A closed supermarket and no milk for their tea has coloured their view of my property and hopefully potential clients will see through the comments for what they are.

Total tranquility.

What great place, We were met by Sandra the owner, and given the keys and some very useful advice. The cottage was so quiet and peaceful, we found it a bit cooler than the coast, but because of the hight above sea level it was great for us. A nice place to sunbathe that was private, and not too far from a super bar and restaurant. A car is a must, to see the surrounding countryside. If you want a nice place to get away from the noise...this is it. Highly reccomended......and great value....

Chirche Country Dwelling

This is the place for an authentic Tenerife village experience. You are amongst other houses on the hillside at the top of a quite village. The house is a true Canarian house with modern comforts. The village is at 800metres and can have a bit of a chill in the evenings. The living room upstairs can be kept very warm with the log burner. We got the fuel starter pack which was enough for the week with the fir cones we enjoyed collecting.

Downstairs was just warm enough. Cooking helped to warm it a bit more.

The house was fine for 2 of us, three would be fine but 4 might be a bit tight. Depends how much you would want to store in the second double bedroom. If you travel light it would be fine. You may wish to ask Sandra for some larger saucepans etc. if you were 4.

We did a lot of walking. The situation was great for us as it was just off the main road to the National Park. Probably one of the closest villages to The Teide national Park. It was not so far to the Teno area and the beaches were easliy reachable. Central for what we wanted to do. If you wanted a beach holiday it would probably not be such a good location. We felt the house was great value, a great experience and clean. Thank you Sandra, we had a fantastic holiday.

Knus huis met fijn dakterras

  • 4 of 5

Car: necessary

The coastal towns of San Juan, Alcala, Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes are 15 mins by car and Las Americas, Los Cristianos are 20 mins away.

The south airport (Reina Sofia) is 40 mins away by car. A car is recommended for your stay as the local bus to the village is only 4 times a day each way.

The large town of Guia de Isora is 3 mins drive away and has supermarkets, banks, chemists, petrol garages and a 24 hour medical centre. Guia de isora is on the main road to the tf1 motorway connection which takes you nearly all round the island. The village road leads up to the main route for mt. Teide national park.

Further Details:

There are 2 good restaurants in the village, one is a mirador (look out) with spectacular views. There are many walking routes in and around the village with maps in the cottage and signposted round the village. The national park is not too far away with its very unusual scenery.
