Cottage in Treknow, Tintagel, Cornwall - Peaceful position, stunning views, excellent location for North Coast beaches

Please note: your stay at 2 Rose Cottage will normally begin and end on a Sunday when there's much less traffic.

The cottage is a 200 year-old two-storey semi-detached house surrounded by open pasture with beautiful views towards the sea and direct access to the Trebarwith Strand beach footpath. It's been carefully restored by the owners as a second home, retaining the beamed ceilings, fresh white walls and slate floors with an approximate total floor area of 700sq ft (65 sq m). It contains many personal possessions, pictures and books which give the cottage a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Set on the edge of a peaceful village, it's a short walk to connect with the coast path. Shops are a mile away at Tintagel and a few minutes’ walk brings you to the fantastic Mill House Inn with another great pub just above the beach. The location is perfect for the surfing beaches of north Cornwall; the Eden Project is about an hour's drive (depending on traffic).

About David Nutt

Our families have spent summers in this part of north Cornwall for about 50 years. 2 Rose Cottage came into our family in the 1980s and we subsequently bought it after a year of searching for the right place.

The cottage is very special because it’s on the edge of the village but (as you can see in the photographs) has wonderful rural views. This is coupled with easy access to the beach via the footpath that literally goes past the front door. Over the years we've steadily improved the house both in maintenance of the structure and the interior. It's now exactly how we wanted it - comfortable, well-equipped, peaceful and totally relaxing. Everyone - relatives, friends, family, guests - loves it and we go as often as we can ourselves.

Our cottage is special in so many ways: it has glorious and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, it's right on the marked footpath to the superb surfing beach at Trebarwith Strand, it's in an unspoilt Cornish village and it has its own unique charm.

Notes on accommodation: Electricity for hot water, cooking and heating is included in the rent. Free internet access is available via a wireless router. Outside: Narrow sitting area beside front door. Field adjoining house can be used for sitting out. 4 folding chairs kept in an outside storeroom. Utility Room: Storage space with washing machine, tumble drier and folding chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: You will need to bring your own bath towels as well as those for swimming. Bed linen is supplied with beds made when you arrive. Linen for the sofabed is not supplied so you'll need to bring your own.

Nice house, great view!

We are a french family, and wanted to discover Devon and Cornwall.

this place was perfect for us.The house is simple, very nice, and clean, with all facilities (dishwasher/wifi/washing machine) with large bedrooms, large kitchen and confortable living room.

And most of all with an incredible view of the courntryside (we are from Paris so it's very unusual for us!) . We loved waking up in the morning, open the window and see all the sheeps having their breakfast just next to us.

we had a very nice stay, and certainly would like to go back.

the house is 5 mn drive from Tintagel, and a few miles from waterbridge, where we rented bikes to ride to Padstow.

I recommend this place.

Perfect Weekend away

I would just like to Thank David for letting us stay in his wonderful cottage with our 2 children and Maddie our English Bulldog.

The cottage was in perfect the position with great views and short walk to beach and lovely Pub on the cliff top,which was ideal as the weather was fantastic it was also great to explore the local area .

We will defiantly return for another visit later on in the year.

Characterful comfortable cottage

This was our second visit to Rose Cottage, both times out of season, and the cottage was clean and cosy and more homely than most holiday cottages.Quiet location with lovely views- in hot weather we would probably miss having a garden, but the property is exactly as described, and we found the owner friendly and easy to deal with.

Perfect getaway!

We had a wonderful time at this property - it was just what we were looking for. The cottage feels very homely and you instantly feel comfortable there. The views are also to die for and the walk to the beach was lovely. We had some lovely sunny days which was an additional bonus in February, but come rain or shine I would happy sit in the window seat and read my book after a day's exploring.

Cosy Cornish Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay in No 2 Rose Cottage. Location, layout and facilities were as listed so there were no unfortunate surprises. The cottage is a wonderful getaway for a couple or small family (my 14 year old loved it). The position overlooking sheep filled fields was idyllic. I spent many hours in the window seat pretending to read. The walk back from the beach and lovely Port William pub was a good hike up a steep hill but easily walkable after time on the beach or a good meal. The coast path and other footpaths are very accessible and the whole area is very dog friendly provided leads are used when appropriate. I would whole heartedly recommend this cottage if you love the coast and countryside and enjoy the cosiness of a traditional Cornish cottage. There are steps down to the sitting room and main bedroom and perhaps people over six foot might feel a bit restricted but we thought it was wonderful. The only other thing to bring your attention to would be the lack of phone signal in the cottage itself. It is however accessible in the field in front and the road behind and the wifi was excellent. We hope to be back.

Fantastic little cottage in a great location. Highly recommend for friends, families and more

I recently spent 3 nights at Rose cottage with a few friends to celebrate a Phd graduation and generally bring friends together as we now all live in various different locations.

The cottage is in a pretty village but the highlight is the beach just a short walk from the property via a footpath that runs from right outside the cottage.

The cottage has all the facilities you could ever need and Monopoly served to bring out our inner child especially after a few drinks (no cheating of course).

There is only one parking space at the property that can be an issue if you have several vehicles however on the otherside of the village (less than 5mins walk) there is a residential street that we never failed to find a space.

When I plan another trip to Cornwall, as long as it is in the similar location I will definitely stay at this property again.
