Please note: your stay at 2 Rose Cottage will normally begin and end on a Sunday when there's much less traffic.

The cottage is a 200 year-old two-storey semi-detached house surrounded by open pasture with beautiful views towards the sea and direct access to the Trebarwith Strand beach footpath. It's been carefully restored by the owners as a second home, retaining the beamed ceilings, fresh white walls and slate floors with an approximate total floor area of 700sq ft (65 sq m). It contains many personal possessions, pictures and books which give the cottage a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Set on the edge of a peaceful village, it's a short walk to connect with the coast path. Shops are a mile away at Tintagel and a few minutes’ walk brings you to the fantastic Mill House Inn with another great pub just above the beach. The location is perfect for the surfing beaches of north Cornwall; the Eden Project is about an hour's drive (depending on traffic).

About the Owner

Our families have spent summers in this part of north Cornwall for about 50 years. 2 Rose Cottage came into our family in the 1980s and we subsequently bought it after a year of searching for the right place.

The cottage is very special because it’s on the edge of the village but (as you can see in the photographs) has wonderful rural views. This is coupled with easy access to the beach via the footpath that literally goes past the front door. Over the years we've steadily improved the house both in maintenance of the structure and the interior. It's now exactly how we wanted it - comfortable, well-equipped, peaceful and totally relaxing. Everyone - relatives, friends, family, guests - loves it and we go as often as we can ourselves.

Cosy Cornish Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay in No 2 Rose Cottage. Location, layout and facilities were as listed so there were no unfortunate surprises. The cottage is a wonderful getaway for a couple or small family (my 14 year old loved it). The position overlooking sheep filled fields was idyllic. I spent many hours in the window seat pretending to read. The walk back from the beach and lovely Port William pub was a good hike up a steep hill but easily walkable after time on the beach or a good meal. The coast path and other footpaths are very accessible and the whole area is very dog friendly provided leads are used when appropriate. I would whole heartedly recommend this cottage if you love the coast and countryside and enjoy the cosiness of a traditional Cornish cottage. There are steps down to the sitting room and main bedroom and perhaps people over six foot might feel a bit restricted but we thought it was wonderful. The only other thing to bring your attention to would be the lack of phone signal in the cottage itself. It is however accessible in the field in front and the road behind and the wifi was excellent. We hope to be back.

Fantastic little cottage in a great location. Highly recommend for friends, families and more

I recently spent 3 nights at Rose cottage with a few friends to celebrate a Phd graduation and generally bring friends together as we now all live in various different locations.

The cottage is in a pretty village but the highlight is the beach just a short walk from the property via a footpath that runs from right outside the cottage.

The cottage has all the facilities you could ever need and Monopoly served to bring out our inner child especially after a few drinks (no cheating of course).

There is only one parking space at the property that can be an issue if you have several vehicles however on the otherside of the village (less than 5mins walk) there is a residential street that we never failed to find a space.

When I plan another trip to Cornwall, as long as it is in the similar location I will definitely stay at this property again.

Rose Cottage comes very highly recommended

I have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years. Rose Cottage is in my top 3! It has been very tastefully refurbished, is very clean, has delightful furnishings, is very well equipped and is set in a great location. The date for a hand operation cut my stay short but I will definitely be back. Don't pass the opportunity to stay here is my advice! Oh and The Mill House at the bottom of the hill serves great food. Coast/Beach:

The beautiful unspoilt surfing beach of Trebarwith Strand is about ten minutes' walk down the footpath that passers the cottage. Surrounded by rocky cliffs, the beach is available for about six hours either side of low tide. At low tide the beach is wide and sandy, with surfing that can be both challenging and exciting when the waves are right. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round because the entire beach is swept by the tide twice a day.

Travel:

Bus services are limited so a car is essential to enjoy your stay. The nearest rail station is Bodmin Parkway (40 minutes' drive) where rail passengers can be met to pick up a hire car. Nearest airport at Newquay (45 minutes' drive). Distance from Bristol is 130 miles and London 240 miles.

Distances:

Tintagel, the nearest village with food shops, chemist, tourist information and free cash points is 1 mile away. The nearest town is Camelford some 5 miles away. Wadebridge, a market town, is some 15 miles away. Padstow is 20 miles away.

Further Details:

There are many places to visit in this part of north Cornwall - the beautiful fishing port of Padstow (home of Rick Stein), perfect harbour villages like Port Isaac, grand houses like Pencarrow or Llanhydrock and the beaches at Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Treyarnon and elsewhere.

The coastal path passes close by the village.

Outdoor activities like pony-trekking are nearby. The Eden Project is about 45minutes' drive (Saturday is the least crowded day). The Camel Sailing School is at Rock where you can go out with an instructor or on your own if you sail. If you fancy seeing a show, check what's on at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro.

Cycles can be hired in Wadebridge for the Camel Trail.
