This original fisherman's cottage has recently been renovated into a modern bright and airy retreat with a large outside area. It is ideally situated in the very centre of delightful Santa Luzia, nestling in a small cobbled square behind the waterfront of the Ria Formosa Natural park. The local shop, cafes and bars are all within a few minutes walk as well as many excellent restaurants. The long sandy beach is easily accessed by foot or by regular ferry service from the village. Historic Tavira is 3kms and the surrounding countryside is lovely for walking, cycling and bird watching.

Coast/Beach:

The beach is reached by a short ferry ride (one Euro) from Santa Luzia. Alternatively you can take a 10 minute walk to the floating bridge and then take the mini-train to the beach which also costs one Euro and reaches the beach in 5-10 minutes.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Faro 35km, travelling time is 35 to 40 minutes. Car hire is available at the airport but is not essential. Taxi to Tavira is usually under 5 euros.

Distances:

The historic town of Tavira with many places of interest is 3km. Amenities in Santa Luzia includes shops, pharmacy, post office and bank. There is a local bus service to Tavira where you can catch a train to main destinations along the Algarve.

Further Details:

Santa Luzia is well catered for with regards dining and is reknowned for it's fish restaurants, particularly those specialising in octopus which is caught locally. In addition there is a French restaurant, Vincents and the Danish restaurant Canto Azul. Being within a natural park, this is a marvelous area for bird watching.

  • Notes on accommodation: Accommodation has air conditioning plus additional wall heaters for the cooler months. Windows have solar glass and fly screens. Outside: The spacious patio has a shower (cold) and is accessed by double doors from the lounge diner. The patio has a large pagoda and leads to a secluded walled garden that has tables and chairs plus sun loungers. The roof terrace is accessed from the lounge and also has sun loungers and seating. The patio/garden has lighting for evening use plus canopies and a parasol. There is a newly installed BBQ at the bottom of the garden. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are provided and changed weekly.
