Ski Chalet in Courchevel Le Praz, Rhone-Alpes, France - Wonderful Views, Yards From All Amenities

Semi-detached ski chalet situated about 150 yards from ski lifts and all local amenities. One of a group of chalets with private access and private parking. Chalet was built about 12 years ago and is well finished and very well equipped for 8 people for skiing or relaxing at home. Large living area with warming open fire, Dining area with additional leaves for table and seating for up to 8 people, excellent Kitchen with all equipment for family self-catering, 4 double bedrooms all with en-suite facilities (3 standard double beds plus twin beds). Utility room with washing machine and drier plus ski boot warmer. Good indoor bad weather play space for children. Lovely views from double aspect first floor living room balconies. Chalet is equipped with wifi and freesat tv.

About Frances Hess

As a family (3 children/4 grandchildren), we love skiing. We escape to The 3 Valleys as often as possible and have made a real home in the mountains. I am English but my husband is Swiss so he introduced me to skiing and immediately I was smitten. We wanted to be able to escape the pressures of work in England as often as possible; just get in the car and go whenever possible. Originally we bought a duplex in Meribel Les Allues - we loved this but my favourite was always Le Praz and when we needed more space we were so lucky to ask just at the right time. There was nothing available but we left our name etc. with the agent. We received the phone call and had to make a decision from England and off plan within hours or someone else would buy it! What a wonderful decision that was.

Why Frances Hess chose Courchevel

We wanted to stay in our holiday home at any time of the year; many ski resorts close between seasons and you can't even buy a loaf of bread. Le Praz is a real village, open all year with every amenity. No car needed unless you want to explore. Free bus service during ski season; 2 ski lifts 150 yds from the chalet; one bubble goes to 1850 (ideal for ski school etc); the other is a new 6-man fast chair lift which finishes at the top of La Tania near the La Tania bubble. Olympic ski jumps by lift; there are lots of competitions taking place both in Summer and Winter. Vast ski area, linking Meribel, Val Thorens, La Tania, Les Menuires, St Martin and all Couchevel resorts. The chalet is totally equipped (linen/towels supplied) - just bring your boots and skis (or rent round the corner). We love it when there are just the 2 of us and we love it when we fill it with 8 people, family and friends. Summer is also wonderful there with so many activities available from walking, climbing, golf, tennis, swimming, biking etc. We love it! So much to do in the Summer but so few people - a secret waiting to be found!

What makes this chalet unique

Many ski chalets offer wonderful accommodation and you can often ski in and out. But can you get to other amenities easily. Chalets 'on the piste' are great but ours is 150 yards from the piste and 150 yards from all amenities. We can shop on the way home from skiing or pop out after a cup of tea. We can walk to all 6 restaurants and enjoy wonderful apres ski in the Hotel Bar. No car needed, No bus ride needed. Le Praz is a real community, not just a tourist resort. As our grandchildren grow up they will be able to walk into the village to play with others. Much later (!) they will be able to walk to the 4 bars in the village and meet up with all the young and then walk home again. We love it!

Notes on accommodation: The main living area and 3 bedrooms have underfloor heating. There are also supplementary electric wall heaters and heated towel rails. Electric water heating. Electrical sockets are French so guests should provide own adaptors/English to French (unfortunately they keep walking!) Outside: First floor South facing balcony and East facing balcony with small table and chairs. Small communal area of grass and gravel between chalets. Utility Room: Sink with drainer, washing machine, tumble dryer, ski rack, heated boot rack. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are included and supplied. Maid service before and after rental. Extra can be privately arranged. Other: 2 balconies from living area, South and East facing. Wonderful mountain views. Single garage if required in basement - not recommended for parking as very steep approach and room mainly used for storage and daily ski preparation. If used, mini only.

Really convenient and soooo comfortable

We were really lucky to be in Le Praz with so much snow early in the season. Chalet Dandrina was the perfect venue as we could watch the snow fall from the cosiness of the chalet or be at the lift for skiing within about 3 minutes walk. The local choice of restaurants is excellent but the chalet is also so well equipped that we ate in most of the time.

We would high recommend this chalet for a great holiday.

Car: not necessary


Airports: Chambery (1 hour), Lyon and Geneva (about 1.75 hours). Trains: Eurostar London/Ashford to Moutiers during the ski season or Paris to Moutiers. Moutiers is a 15 minute drive/taxi/bus. Drive from Calais about 8.5 hours - motorway all the way to Moutiers.

The chalet is about 150 yards from local shops including general store, butcher, 2 newsagents, 2 bakers, laundry, 6 restaurants, 1 hotel, 2 ski hire and more. Free bus to all Courchevel resorts and down to Moutiers for main line train. 2 ski gondolas 150 yards with access to Courchevel 1850 and above.

25% (non refundable) payable with booking. Balance payable 2 months prior to holiday. Refundable £200 deposit against damage.

Changeover Day:
Can be flexible but would prefer Friday or Sunday. NO Saturday changeovers.
