The larger of the two apartments. Perfect for a couple. There is a double sofa-bed in the living room, good for children, but not really suitable for 2 adults. Access off the patio.

Bedroom: double bed, chest of drawers, 2 bedside cabinets,individual lamps, and clothes stand.

Bathroom: Shower, W.C., washbasin, hair-drier

Kitchen: Freezer/Fridge, Microwave, Kettle, Toaster, 4-hob vitro, Grill. Sink. Washing machine and foldable clothes horse. Iron and ironing board.

Livingroom: Dining table and chairs. Double sofa bed. Wardrobe. Electric heating in winter.

No air conditioning in this flat. It stays naturally cool in the hot summer.

The property is located in a traditional Granadine residential neighbourhood at the foot of the Alhambra woods. The cobbled streets are traffic free and peaceful, but in five minutes you can walk down to Plaza Nueva, the historic central square of the city. From here you are within easy reach of the Albayzin...the old moorish quarter, or the cathedral and the main commercial area of the city. There are innumerable bars and restaurants close by ... we will be happy to recommend if you so wish. You couldn't be much nearer to the Alhambra. In a couple of minutes you are in the woods that lead up to the palace. If you want to visit the Alhambra, make sure you book entrance tickets in advance. We have lived in the property since renovating it in 1988, but in 2009 we created two apartments in part of the house. There are two patio areas for your use. About Richard Nother

Richard and Esperanza met in London in mid 70's. Esperanza studied art at the Royal College of Art; Richard played with both Joe Strummer and John Lydon in various bands of the time. They moved to Granada in 1988, having restored the ruin that they had found at the foot of the Alhambra. With their children leaving home, they decided to convert a section of the house in to two independent apartments. They still live in a seperate part of the house. Esperanza, an active artist with regular international exhibitions of her paintings and sculpture, has a ceramic studio off the patio. Some of her work is used in the decoration of the apartments. Richard is still involved in music: both playing and producing musical events. They are both more than happy to share their extensive local knowledge.

Why Richard Nother chose Centro

Having decided that we wanted to move from London to Granada we couldn't believe our luck when Esperanza's brother sent us a photo of a dilapidated ruin at the foot of the Alhambra. We had wanted to live in the centre of the city, but to have found a property in this perfect position was more than we could have hoped for. Perched on the side of the Alhambra hill with views to the front overlooking the city, and behind us a green swathe of the Alhambra woods we couldn't have asked for more. Just pedestrian cobbled streets in the neighbourhood, which suits us fine. Bird song for car horns is our preference, yet in 5 minutes you are in the centre of the city with the necessary shops bars and restaurants. We renovated the house and had space for a ceramic workshop for Esperanza.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartments really do combine two apparently opposite characteristics. We are right in the historic centre of the city with bars and restaurants 5 minutes walk down the hill, yet at the same time we are tucked away in a quiet (and safe) traffic-free area.

Three minutes walk up the hill brings you to the Alhambra woods with its running water, bird song, and deliciously cool respite from Granada's summer heat.

You have absolute privacy during your stay, but we are on hand to help out in any way that we can.

The remaining 50% must be paid 2 weeks prior to the start of your holiday. We will send you a confirmation with detailed instructions on how to arrive at the apartments, and other information.

If your transport arrives in Granada before 14.00h, let us know, and you could leave luggage with us prior to your occupation of the apartment.

Notes on prices:
Prices quoted above (in Euros) are for 2 people per night. Minimum stay 3 nights. After six nights, there is a sliding scale, and we will be happy to quote a price for the number of days you wish to stay. For extra guests there is a charge of 15€ per extra person (half price children under 15) per night. Supplements apply at Easter. There are no additional costs to the prices quoted.

Notes on accommodation: Both apartments have: Satellite T.V. and free wifi internet access. All bed linen (100% cotton) and towels are supplied. Permanent hot water. Crockery, Cooking utensils and glassware in kitchen. Baby's cot available on request. Heating. We have a selection of guide books (and novels). On arrival we will supply you with a local map, and point out necessary locations, eg supermarkets, monuments, recommended restaurants, nearby hamman, etc. Outside: There are two separate patio areas for your use, each with chairs and table. Perfect for breakfast, or for a relaxing glass of wine in the evening! The apartments are no smoking...not the patios.

Great Find-Great Stay

We had a memorable visit to Granada in large part due to our stay at the Alhambra apartments. Richard explained everything about the apartment and provided a list of restaurants and places we might want to take in. His suggestions were spot on. The apartment was clean and everything we needed was there or close by, as it's centrally located. There is work throughout the space by his wife, Esperanza, a very talented artist, making one feel at home and reflecting care of ownership. There are many other positive attributes, but to get to the point, we are lucky to have found " our kind of place".

Perfectly located

The flat is small, very clean, simply furnished and perfectly located for the old part of town and the Alhambra (less than 5 minutes walk to the main entrance) . Richard was a great host - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful but not overly intrusive. Would stay again in a heart beat and thoroughly recommend.

Comfortable & Well Located

Richard is a very helpful host and we were very comfortable in his compact and well equipped apartment which is well situated for the Alhambra Palace, restaurants and shops, and near to the On/Off bus for sight seeing. We felt totally in the heart of things and enjoyed a very pleasant stay of several days..

An amazing experience! Could not ask for more.

I think I could write a book about the positive experience we had in Granada and so much of it was because of the suggestions, kindness, and selflessness of our hosts. The apartment was spacious, comfortable , full of original art, reliable wi-fi, information about restaurants, shopping, car parking etc. We used our little patio to enjoy the sunlight and a glass of Cava or wine on several occasions. It is located in the historic district so you don't have cars running up and down the street all night long. We could see the Alhambra entrance just steps from our front door. Richard drew maps to help us find hikes, suggested an incredible little business to see some Flamenco dancing up close in a small area, great restaurant recommendations and on and on. I miss figured on our schedule by one day and Richard was right on it helping us find a place to stay. We are both in our early 60's and had no problem with the walk up hill to the apartment. It is well stocked with microwave, stove, oven, coffee maker, water boiler, washing machine, drying rack. Whatever we needed was there. I would rent this lovely apartment again without any regret. Lovely Apartment in a Great Location

We arrived in the middle of a heatwave but the apartment stayed cool. Both owners were very helpful, giving us handy tips on things like how to tour the Alhambra etc. We stayed for a week so really had time to look around and relax, went to the coast, loved the tapas, took the tourist bus. Would recommend Granada and this accommodation highly.

Excellent Accommodation, Charming, Central and Welcoming

Richard and Esperanza’s apartment met all my needs for getting to know a fascinating city, as well as connection with people, during a month's stay in Granada. From the time I first booked, Richard was very helpful with my queries and with suggestions about things to do to satisfy my particular interests in the life and culture of Granada. He greeted me and all his guests warmly, with a mine of information, also listed in the flat, and was always willing to make more suggestions and talk about the best way to go about things. The apartment and the patios are charming with lovely tiled floors, white walls and beautiful artwork by Esperanza. The apartment met all my needs for comfort, self-catering and privacy, but I met people from all over the world during my stay through Richard’s suggestions about activities and other travellers who stayed in the upstairs flat. The flat stays naturally cool during the heat. The location was perfect for me. It is very central, lying between all the oldest historic neighbourhoods, as well as close to the city centre. There are buses to historic centres close by, and taxis too. It’s a very short walk to the Alhambra, myriad bars and restaurants and flamenco venues, as well as city shops. Staying here made my first experience of Granada very rich and I would love to return.

Coast/Beach:

Nearest beach at Salobreña, a 45 min drive. Other good beaches on Granada coast at Calahonda (1h15), sea fishing at Carchuna (1h10), scuba diving La Herradura (1h20). Best night-life found at Almuñecar (1h15)

If you have time, we highly recommend a 2 hour drive to the unspoilt beaches within the Natural Park area of "Cabo de Gata" in Almeria. Take refreshments with you to these beaches as the protected coastline has neither bars, shops or hotels. Accommodation easily found in nearby San Jose.

Travel:

Granada is NOT a car-friendly city! If you come by car we recommend using a car park for the duration of your stay, except for any trips to local beaches, mountains, villages etc. The carpark we recommend is close to the city ring road, and just a short taxi ride from the apartments. NOTE THAT THERE ARE NOW DIRECT FLIGHTS WITH B.A. FROM LONDON CITY AIRPORT TO GRANADA. Granada is nearest airport 25Km. Regular buses to centre or taxi (approx 25€). Malaga airport is 130Km. 1h 45min journey time.
