This 2 bed/2 bath apartment opens onto a private garden with spectacular views over an olive laden valley topped by the spires of hill-top churches. The garden features numerous places to enjoy the view - including a patio dining area with umbrella & BBQ and a shaded alcove with bistro table. Crucial to a Tuscan summer there is a 10m infinity pool - again with wonderful views over valley. Apartment is spacious and combines period features - such as chestnut beams, terracotta floors and brick fireplace -with comfortable living. WI-FI, DVD and MP3 player. Tranquil but not remote, the bars and shops of little Cevoli are ten mins walk, supermarket less than ten mins drive. Ideally located for Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano. Or undiscovered hill-top towns around Ripoli, the beach (40 mins) and the spa town of Casciana Terme with its thermal springs and massage treatments facials (10mins). This is a hidden gem of a location offering Tuscan authenticity with easy access to cultural icons.

About the Owner

We are a retired English couple with three grown-up children and families. After many years looking for the perfect Tuscan retreat for all our family to enjoy we discovered Ripoli - and its fantastic combination of undiscovered rural Italy and proximity to cultural centres, beach and airport. Every member of our family loves our Italian home and we all come regularly to enjoy its peaceful location and local scene. We maintain the property well for ourselves, with the little touches that go beyond a holiday-home feel. We hope all our renters enjoy Ripoli as much as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"This apartment was truly idyllic. The view over the Tuscan countryside is truly amazing - better than the pictures on the website - and it is really well placed for exploring the fantastic locations in this area. The apartment is stunning and really well equipped. The infinity pool is the jewel in the crown. A fantastic holiday destination. We'll be back." Damian Bonsall

"What a fabulous place to stay, in such a wonderful area. Due to the location, we managed plenty of visits including, Volterra, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca and Florence together with a couple of days down by the pool in incredible heat, sunshine and so peaceful. We both think your property has the best view all day long and I will miss those breakfasts, lunches and dinners and that landscape." David & Janet Cottam

"We had a great time with the kids at Ripoli, lovely apartment, lovely pool, lovely views. We would definitely recommend to friends and family." Annelies McDerment

Stunning and idyllic location

  • 5 of 5

We were so lucky to find this lovely property which is set in a quiet spot but yet within easy reach of a number of towns and with a supermarket a short drive away. Spacious (comfortable for 4 adults), clean, well equipped and in such a good location. The view from the well kept garden was breathtaking and the pool, which again was well maintained, was enjoyed very much by our 20 and 15 year old boys. This is the perfect area to enjoy all that this part of Tuscany has to offer, from the cities of Pisa and Florence to the hill top towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. When all the sightseeing has been done how could you not relax watching the sun setting on that view. Fiona was an amazing hostess, she answered so many questions before our trip and was so helpful in advising us when we were booking our train to Rome. I can't praise this property enough, we spent an amazing 10 days there and could easily have spent longer. It really felt like we were staying in someones home not just a holiday let.

Summer bliss in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

After spending days searching for our 'perfect holiday home' we stumbled across this absolute gem in Lari. It offered us everything and more that we could have wished for. Spacious, well equipped, clean, comfortable beds (very important to us), power showers with plenty of hot water etc.... On top of that it offered us a superb location for touring the best of Tuscany. All within an hour we visited Lucca, Sienna, Pisa, Volterra, San Gimigano, Florance, on days that we weren't touring we simply relaxed by the beautiful pool and enjoyed a bar-b-q in the garden by night, perfect. Fiona Hazard was on hand before our holiday and once we were there, including helping me to sort a delicious surprise birthday meal for my husband. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are now struggling with where to go next year as we don't want to be disappointed! Highly recommend.

perfect spot to relax and enjoy Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

The Hughes Family stayed in Italy in the apartment for 2 weeks and loved it. Even before I got there the communication and help received from the the family owners was excellent and continued whilst on holiday . The apartment is in a lovely traditional house that's not too far from the air port. It's location is peaceful and there's a divine infinity pool with beautiful views out onto the the country side. The apartment is kitted out with all the comforts of a loved and well used family apartment. I found the following things super helpful: visitors book, selection of dvds, guide books, veranda and the laundry room . The apartment was the perfect base to explore Tuscany . I 'd go back in a heart beat.

May...d in Heaven!

  • 4 of 5

A late May half-term getaway to introduce our daughters to Italy and all things Tuscan was a complete success. The stunning view from sunrise to sunset, from both the terrace and the pool, was priceless... and made even better by the tranquility of the countryside, including a friendly pheasant in the olive grove! Perfect location for getting to all the major sights; off the beaten track but still in reach of Pisa, Florence, Siena and the beach. Sunsetting BBQs after days of discovery, whether local or further afield, made for a great holiday. Thank you for such civilized relaxation!

What a Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful holiday in Ripoli - the apartment is in an ideal location for exploring the nearby towns and cities, but is also wonderfully tranquil for relaxing times by the pool. The views over the valley are stunning and the garden is lovely for al fresco dining. We found the apartment itself well-equipped and full of character, with plenty of really useful information about places to visit and local restaurants provided. The owners are extremely helpful - we would definitely recommend a visit, and would love to come back again ourselves!

Il Borgetino

A lovely quiet spot in a small Tuscan village. It has all the amenities within a few kilometers and is a good base for exploring the Valdera area of the region and when you come back there's the infinity pool with a stunning view to relax in.

Nearest Airport : Pisa at 32 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Cevoli at 2 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Livorno at 40 Kilometres Nearest Train : Pontedera at 15 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Fi-Pi-Li at 10 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Ripoli at 200 Metres Nearest Beach : Tirrenia at 40 Kilometres Car: recommended

One of the advantages of the Pisa Province of Tuscany is you are in easy reach of the coast. Marina di Pisa (35 mins) is a public beach which boasts one of Italy's award-winning ice-cream parlours. Very close is the private beach complex of Tirrenia - hire beach loungers for the day and enjoy all the food and drink options to hand. The port of Livorno (40mins) is a must for fantastic sea food.

Further up the coast (1 hour) are the glamorous resorts of Viareggio and Forte di Marmi.

Pisa, the nearest airport, is 32km and 25 mins by car. Pisa is well served by all the UK budget airlines including Ryanair, EasyJet, Jet2, as well as BA. You can also travel to Livorno by motorail.

Car hire is highly recommended if you are to enjoy the surrounding countryside but it is not essential. Trains from Pisa to Pontedera take less than 15 mins and from there you can get a bus to Ripoli. Train from Pontedera (15 mins from Ripoli) is also our preferred route to get to Florence.

The nearest village is Cevoli. Other towns and villages within a few minutes drive are Lari, with its 12th century castle and the spa town of Casciana Terme with its quintessential Italian square and numerous restaurants and bars. If you're looking for culture, there's Pisa (32km), Florence (72km), Lucca (50km), Volterra (35km), Sienna (70km) and San Gimignano.
