and we enjoy giving guests a special experience in this oasis.
About the Owner
We have been visiting Barbados since 1980 and built Warawee in 1993. The small villa was completed in 2000 with our parents in mind. Both houses have a traditional feel and look, but European standards. Being keen gardeners we developed this at the same time and it has become a lovely oasis.
Now retired from business and in our 60's we divide our time between Barbados and a home West Sussex.
Barbados to us is England in the sun.

What a wonderful garden villa, in the most amazing gardens with the perfect hosts including Wendy, a wonderful housekeeper. It has all you need for a truly relaxing break, Gibbs beach is awesome and Mullins beach bar is the perfect end to a long lazy day on the beach with the nicest staff. We couldn't recommend it enough and the local knowledge imparted by the owners on where and when makes it so much more special and personal.
Delightful, clean and spacious.
We loved everything about Warawee. The owners are very approachable and knowledgeable about the island and very quick to respond to queries before arriving in Barbados such as providing the name/number of a reliable taxi driver. The cottage itself is set in the gardens of the main house in an upmarket area which is very quiet with one beach bar locally. It does have it's own gate but the owner's seemed quite happy for us to use their access which would
take you to the main road to get to Mullins and Gibbes beaches within a 5 mins stroll. The gardens are beautifully maintained and provide privacy if you wish to sunbathe or take your breakfast on the patio area.
We weren't able to get a signal on the tv and the wifi was a bit hit and miss but you could generally pick it up on the patio. The cottage itself had everything you could possibly want even if you were cooking a three course meal for guests but we ate out most days/nights as there were so many fabulous restaurants within a short bus ride to Holetown and decent walk or bus ride to Speightstown. The bus cost 2 dollars per ride and that is whether you jump off at Holetown or go all the way to Bridgetown. The blue bus is a little more relaxing than the yellow reggae bus but the latter were more frequent and you could flag them down anywhere on the road so we used them mostly. If you are a bit of a party animal Warawee may not be for you but if like us you want a relaxing on the beach week with plenty of good food and sleep, don't want to go too bed late and like to rise early and make the most of the day it is perfect. There is a supermarket called Massey in Holetown if you want to get your Waitrose wine and food in but if you need essentials there is a garage in Mullins which is well stocked.
We would love to return to Warawee in the not too distant future.
We spent a most relaxing two weeks at this delightful cottage, set in beautiful secluded gardens in a truly excellent location. Everything more than exceeded our expectations and I cannot recommend Warawee highly enough.
Just returned from Warawee Cottage. This little gem is perfectly placed for everything Barbados has to offer: beautiful beaches with a wide range of water sports, stunning scenery, quaint little neighbourhoods with the colourful board houses, shopping, the lively centre of Bridgetown, the cricket and of course not to be missed Oistins Friday night fish and music night. Our holiday was about R&R so Warawee Cottage was perfect, set in its own beautifully kept secluded gardens with a small pool which was shared with the main house with Mullins and Gibbs beaches both minutes from the house. The property is spacious enough to enjoy daytime lounging in the garden or evenings spent inside - it has everything you could need, and if it's not there then just ask the housekeeper - she was fab. The bus stop is 100m from the house and they are frequent (the yellow regeae ones are insane with their booming music and formula 1 type driving through narrow streets as you stand in the isle clinging to a rail for dear life). I'd strongly recommend the blue government ones! We also hired a car, which was delivered and collected at the gate and this allowed us to tour the island and see its wonderful treasures including: Earthworks pottery and gallery followed by lunch looking across the landscape of the south coast, Crane beach (said to be the 2nd most beautiful beach in the world), followed by lunch at Cutters Deli. Barbados Wildlife and Tropical Forest centre. Kensington Oval for cricket followed by the Barbados Cricket Legends Museum, Oistins (Friday) fish barbeque and music, step back in time Sunbury Plantation House, Bridgetown, Holetown and Speightstown are all within reach for shopping and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner by the ocean at Fishpot Restaurant at Little Good Harbour. We are counting down to our next trip to Warawee Cottage 2014.
Activity and Interests
Mullins and Gibbs Beaches are 150 meters away. Gibbs is very quiet and secluded. Mullins is far more active with a bar/restaurant, and water-sports.
The villa has satellite tv. with full sports package so you can stay at home to watch your favourite team
Grantley Adams International Airport is approximately 40 minutes away. We can arrange for our regular taxi driver [Patrick or one of his team] to meet you at the airport. The standard fare is Bds$90 [US$45].
The towns of Speightstown and Holetown, about 1 and 2 miles away respectively, are easily reached; both having supermarkets and banks. Holetown is more active with shops, a wide selection of restaurants, nightlife and tourist information. Speightstown has a more local feel with local food market and restaurants. There is public transport to both towns and throughout the island.
The island has a varied landscape and a hire car would be an advantage to see the many sights, especially the wonderful views at North Point and the east coast as you drive from Morgan Lewis. Also an area known as 'Little Scotland'. Public transport is frequent and cheap. Island tours, coastal trips, day cruise or a romantic sunset cruise can be arranged locally; collection taxi available when organising the trip. Water sports, sailing, water skiing/boarding, paddle boarding, jet skis including deep sea fishing, glass bottom boats can be arranged on Mullins or Gibbs beach. Mullins beach has beach chairs and sun umbrellas. Sunday lunch a steel band plays in the bar. The currency is Barbados dollars but US$ are accepted together with credit cards.
