Cottage in Gunthorpe, near Cley, Walsingham, Holt, Blakeney, Thursford, North Norfolk - Beautiful, peaceful village near Blakeney, Cley, Holt, Thursford, Walsingham, Morston

Chimney Cottage is single-storey. It was once two neighbouring traditional brick and flint farm labourers' cottages which have been joined to make a comfortable cosy holiday retreat. It is ideally situated to explore the beautiful North Norfolk coast, yet it is less than an hour from the Norfolk Broads. Gunthorpe is a very pretty, quiet conservation village a few miles from Cley-next-the-Sea, Thursford, Walsingham, Blakeney, Morston, Wells-next-the-Sea and the beautiful Georgian town of Holt. There is a wealth of wildlife in the village itself, and many nature reserves only minutes away. The cottage has free Wi-Fi and has recently undergone a refurbishment - with new furniture and furnishings, and a modern bathroom and kitchen.

About Deborah O'Driscoll

We love North Norfolk and have spent many holidays there during the past ten years - in lots of locations and accommodation of varying quality. In 2008 decided to buy a small holiday home to enjoy ourselves, and to offer home-from-home comforts for other holidaymakers. We have two children, and Chimney Cottage is ideal for our family holiday, having room for relatives to visit us during our break. We've tried to make it a comfortable and stylish holiday retreat - with copious white crockery, white cotton bedlinen, wood and leather furnishings, and all the mod cons we have at home. We love visiting it - our children have learnt to identify birds, wildflowers and star constellations during their holidays as well as having a fabulous time on the beaches.

Why Deborah O'Driscoll chose Norfolk & The Broads

Gunthorpe is a beautiful, conservation village with a traditional village green and brick-and flint pantiled cottages. We fell in love with the village when we first visited it - it is away from the busy coast road, with its hassles of parking, queues and noise. There are wonderful walks from the cottage door - we have seen hares, rabbits and deer as well as many birds including owls and buzzards. The location is fantastic for exploring the whole of Norfolk - it is less than an hour from Snettisham and Sandringham to the north, and less than an hour from the Norfolk Broads. We wanted to be away from the busy beaches, in an area where we can walk in peace, and enjoy the beautiful countryside, birds and wildlife of the area.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is full of character but has been renovated to have all mod cons - including WiFi. It has central heating and a real fire so is extra-cosy in winter. We were fed up with staying in cottages that had only storage heaters - because they were always cold during the day and impossible to make warmer.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage - well equipped, comfortable, good location for North Norfolk coast and inland villages. Very helpful owners - good comms and happy to help. Good comfy beds always a bonus! The odd car or lorry trundled by on occasion but only really in the day and not very often considering it is right on the road. If this is the only grumble its a great big thumbs up for this cottage! Lovely area with plenty to do and close enough to Norwich for a day trip if you wanted but with so much to do on the North coast not necessary.

Changeover Day:
Changeover Fridays in peak season and school holidays. Short breaks available outside peak times.

Notes on prices:
Please do not leave it too late to book - we need at least a week's notice for fees to clear and a key to be posted to you

Provisional bookings are subject to receipt of a deposit within 7 days of booking equal to 25 per cent of the booking’s value. If the deposit is not received within seven days then the booking will be cancelled.

The balance of the booking fee is due eight weeks before the arrival date. Failure to pay on time may result in the booking being cancelled – with no return of deposit.

In the case of provisional bookings made within two calendar months of arrival receipt within 7 days of the full booking value is required.

In the event you should need to cancel your booking - the monies paid will not be refunded unless another booking is made of the same value. You are advised to consider a special holiday cancellation insurance policy if you do not already have an appropriate policy.

If the property suffers damage or requires repairs which make it unsuitable for use before your arrival , we will notify you as soon as possible and refund the monies paid in full. Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer alternative accommodation or compensation.

We reserve the right to seek compensation if you or your party are liable for any breakages or damage to the property

The cottage will be cleaned and ready for you by 4pm on the day of your arrival, and should be vacated before 10am on the day of your departure so that it may be cleaned ready for arriving guests.

Fully inclusive of duvets, bed linen, central heating. Please note: you need to provide your own towels.

Children use the bunk beds at your risk – we advise children under the age of 7 do not use the top bunk.

Most dogs welcome please check.

Deposit of 20 per cent required to confirm and then full balance due six weeks before arrival date
