About the Owner

Our family home has been in the Tarn for over 12 years, our 13 year old daughter has grown up a proper little Franglais, and we really enjoy our life here. It is beautiful countryside, and family life is key to everything, but more than anything there is a feeling of space and freedom. In 2003 my husband Steve and I decided to invest in a property near our home that we could use to entertain friends and family, and also let out. We have really enjoyed greeting people at Estaviale, and have made many friends of people who return to us year on year. It is great to share our joy in the area, the house we have lovingly restored and all the wildlife and flowers that abound in the pastures and woods around Estaviale. We watch people unwind from their busy lives as we did all those years ago.

We stayed as a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 children 10-12).Although we had seen photos and read info on the websites I have to say the place is even better then the photos portray (and that is saying something as it looks fab on the website)

The house is spacious and in the main generously equipped.It has ample accommodation and rustic charm via simply decorated rooms,the majority of which all have good views over the countryside.

All in all Estaviale is a great base for exploring the surrounding area whether it be the vineyards that abound, or the nearby historical towns.Steve & Sally are very helpful with any advice and make you feel comfortable knowing that they are on hand if needed,but otherwise they are far from intrusive................

Ideal French Rural Property

Facilities were even better than described. Furnished and equipped as if it was owner's home. Easily and comfortably accommodates 8. Plenty of cooking utensils and crockery.

Owners very keen to make your stay enjoyable, living not far away.

The location is absolutely beautiful. Stunning view of Castenau and surrounding countryside. Fantastic sunsets..

Large grounds are full of wildflowers and birds. Interesting walks both around the property and within easy reach.

Pool has excellent shallow area for children, and deep end which allows for diving.

Small supermarket 5 minutes drive. Large Leclerc just 15 minutes.

Easy reach of Albi, Cordes de Ceil, and Bruniquel, all outstanding towns and villages.

Location

Our vision was to find a traditional stone house in need of renovation, in a beautiful spot. When we saw Estaviale we appreciated it had huge potential. It was then a run down farm, sitting on a hillside beside Castelnau de Montmiral, 10 minutes drive from our home, and within easy reach of Gaillac and the motorway. The location is fantastic,with wonderful views to three sides, the grounds include flower filled meadows, woodlands and a large lake. We knew we had to have it, even if there was a lot of work to be done on the house. When we had finished the renovation and installed the beautiful swimming pool, we felt so proud of what we had achieved, we now have a house that is worthy of its wonderful location, and can offer our visitors a special holiday.

Travel:

Toulouse (Blagnac) Airport 50 mins. Rodez Airport 1hr 45mins. Carcassonne Airport 1hr 45mins.

Channel ports between 8hrs 30min to 10hrs.

TGV train service to Toulouse, and local train services between Toulouse and Gaillac (nearest train station to property) excellent and very punctual.

Distances:

Castelnau de Montmiral 10 min walk, Gaillac 5 min drive. Cordes 15 min drive. Toulouse town centre 1 hr drive.

Booking Notes:
25% deposit on booking, and the balance due 8 weeks prior to your holiday start date. Payable in sterling unless otherwise agreed with owner. Separate security deposit cheque of £300 held by owner and returned after your holiday close date.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival after 4pm on Saturday and 10am on day of departure. Guests may leave baggage at the property prior to 4pm on day of arrival by giving prior notice to owner.

Notes on prices:
All bookings during the period October through to April assume a four person occupancy.Additional persons will be charged at the weekly rate of £30.

Estaviale is secluded without being isolated, you enjoy privacy whilst being close to the village of Castelnau de Montmiral, which is 5 minutes in the car or half an hours walk away. The village has a grocer, baker, bistro and restaurant, and hosts a pretty market in the square on Tuesdays. It is right in the heart of the historic bastide villages and on the wine trail, making it an ideal centre for discovering the area. It is only 10 minutes drive away from the supermarkets and other amenities of Gaillac and access to the Motorway. The extensive grounds give older children the freedom to roam and explore.The hillside position means the house catches all the sunshine, it has 5 sets of french windows, which gives it a light and airy feeling often lost in traditional stone houses.
