About the Owner

I am a wife and mother of 5 children ranging from 30 down to 6 !! I enjoy gardening, reading, entertaining and travelling. We moved to Ireland from London nearly 10 years ago and just love Irish Life in the countryside. We live 2 hours away from Belmullet and love to visit as often as possible.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The beach house is lovely. We stayed in august and the weather was beautiful. The house is warm and bright due to the big windows in every room. We had a lovely evening BBQ on the beach a short walk from the house and was treated to a visit and free display by dolphins the children were entranced. Pat and Brian Donaghy. Brighton, England.

I had a short Easter break at the beach house with my son. It was bright and breezy perfect for long walks around the bay. I loved getting back to the beach house and lighting the log burning stove and curling up with a book, glass of wine and gazing out at the sea. Bliss! Deana Fitzgerald and Alex. Upminster, essex, England.

We arrived very late for our autumn break to the beach house, the owners had put the underfloor heating on the floors were so toasty our 7 year old lay on the floor, they had left a basket with wine, snacks and other bits even toothpaste which we had forgotten, so grateful. Thank you Yvonne. Susan, John and David, Yorkshire

Wonderful week!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the beach house to find a lovely welcome basket waiting for us complete with wine and treats for the children. Well needed after a long journey. So thoughtful.

The house is beautiful, really modern with gorgeous furniture and bedding in each room. Our children loved the space to run around, they especially loved the outside of the property, loads of space to play safely!

Having family in the area, we return every year and have stayed in many local holiday rentals, the beach house is by far the best!

Great location! We enjoyed being able to walk to the shop, playground and the pub.

We will 100% be back. Thanks Yvonne!! xx

Lovely house in peaceful location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week in July with a family of 6 (4 kids aged 10-15). We had a great week here. The house was well equipped, light and warm. It felt light and spacious with big windows giving views in all directions. Nearest beach, 5 mins away on foot, was beautiful, not great for swimming though. Others within 10-15 mins drive were elly bay and (our favourite) mullaghroe which are both blue flag beaches with lovely sand and crystal clear water. We also enjoyed the erris head loop walk (easy walking, lovely views, take a waterproof!) Blacksod bay (beautiful views over achill) and belmullet tidal swimming pool (bracing but fun!). Eurospar in belmullet fine for groceries, shop in aughleam for milk etc.

Overall a lovely week in a great house. Could have spent longer, would happily return.

Beach House review

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful, clean well designed and well equipped house. Very comfortable in a wonderful relaxed setting. Ideal holiday base. Great place to get away from everything. Walking distance to beach, pub, small shop. A couple of nice restaurants in Belmullet that was only 20 minutes away.

P.S. Many thanks for the welcome pack, much appreciated.

Beautiful house...Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

First impressions last. Clean, nice décor and everything what you need. After a long drive we arrived to a very thoughtful welcome basket catered for adults and kids. Good standard of furniture and more than what you would expect for a holiday let. The house is set in a very beautiful location and kids loved watching the cows and horses in the adjacent fields. Good literature of local area and places to visit. Really nice beaches, although those on the Atlantic side were very windy (of course!) but following a visit to Ionad Deirbhile (very friendly with gorgeous scones) we were advised to visit beaches on the bay side of the peninsula, as they are more sheltered. Kids loved collecting shells in wellies or flip flops! We visited Una's Pub in Blacksod bay and had the most amazing fish n chips from Sharon's (need to go on a Tuesday). Teach John Joe (pub in Augleam) also very friendly and serve best pint of Guinness.

We had a lovely week in Aughleam and the house was a fantastic base. Highly recommend!

Relaxing Christmas

  • 4 of 5

We decided to avoid the usual Christmas madness and do something different this year and we are glad that we did! Myself my wife our teenage son and our dog spent a lovely winter break in the beach house. The house is as described and the owners Yvonne & Jim are very helpful. They left us a welcome basket, decorated the house for Christmas and even left our son a little present under the tree. After a walk along one of the surrounding beaches is was nice to come back to such a welcoming retreat.

Location

From the Owner

We bought a site and built our beautiful beach house because my husband is a Architect and loves designing and building houses. We love the area because it is so tranquil and therapeutic with the sea on all sides ! The people are so friendly in this part of Mayo and the weather like the landscape is so dramatic. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and great storms !!
