Two cottages in Rosedale Abbey, close to a village store, bakery and pubs

1 and 4 Old Mill Cottages (OMCs) have been fully renovated and refurbished and offer light, bright and spacious accommodation. Each cottage has a well-equipped kitchen and a sunny secluded patio area with garden furniture and country views.

1 OMC (Bramely Buckle) comprises a kitchen/dining area, separate lounge, double bedroom and bathroom with shower; and on the first floor a twin bedded room.

4 OMC comprises an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge with a double bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

In addition there is ample private parking making these cottages the ideal choice for walkers, families and couples alike. They are conveniently situated for all local amenities including a fabulous glass studio, a tearoom, a bakery and 3 pubs, which serve food.

4 Old Mill Cottage offers compact, comfortable and centrally heated open plan accommodation. It has a modern fully equipped kitchen/dining area and sitting room with vaulted roof and features a floor to ceiling glass window.

The kitchen has a host of appliances including electric oven/hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, sandwich maker, kettle, cafetierre, and iron. The lounge has an LED TV/DVD player with leather sofa. The bedroom has a double bed with bedside cabinets a wardrobe and an en-suite shower room.

All rooms are located on the ground floor making this the ideal choice for more mature guests.

Bed linen is supplied, but please bring own towels and tea towels. Towels can be provided for international guests at an additional cost.

The cottage will have been fully cleaned and prepared before guests arrive and it would be appreciated if it is left in a clean and tidy state at the end of the stay.

The rental price includes gas and electricity.

As I live less than an hours drive away from the cottages I am able to clean and service them both myself to ensure standards are maintained.

A disappointing holiday cottage,that could easily be better kept.

The lawn was mostly weeds & had not been cut for some time.The conifers by the door were dead,and the outlook from the picture window was of other peoples wheelie bins.This alone was bad, but inside was just as disappointing,there were cobwebs everywhere,especially the ceiling.The shower ceiling was mouldy and the owner did not even provide a pint of milk. It felt like someones cash cow, rather than a much loved holiday home,how sad.

Could be better

We found the layout and position good but it was let down by the cleanliness and lack of facilities - e.g. no hair drier or towels

and it would have been nice to have a pint of milk at least especially as we arrived late Sunday evening.

We have stayed at a lot better in the area before and was quite disappointed.

Cosy retreat in Rosedale

We had a fabulous week in this great little cottage in Rosedale Abbey. The accommodation was everything we had expected - clean, comfortable and well-equipped, a cosy retreat to return to after a hard days' exploring! The cottage is situated in a wonderful village which is extremely well located to explore both the coast and inland. We loved all that the North York Moors had to offer, and will definitely come back to see all that we didn't get time to on this visit. Thank you so much Margaret.

I particularly like Rosedale Abbey because I have fond memories of holidaying here as a child and later camping here as as adult. Old Mill Cottages (OMC) are two attractive stone built cottages with their own individual character. Bramley Buckle (Cottage 1) is a nicely renovated Grade II Listed stone building. Cottage 4 is a detached single storey stone cottage. Both cottages have a modern interior, are well equipped and offer comfortable accommodation. There is ample private off road parking.

Coast and Moor-land Attractions:

Rosedale lies in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

The picturesque villages of Lastingham and Hutton le Hole, (famous for its Folk Museum), and the market towns of Helmsley and Pickering ( at the start of the North York Moors Railway and a favourite with steam train enthusiasts) are all close by. Goathland - the "Aidensfield" village in "Heartbeat" lies on this famous line.

There are also many places of historic interest just a short drive away, such as Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Abbey and Temples (National Trust) and the ancient city of York.

The beautiful coastal villages including Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are within easy reach together with the towns of Whitby (with its Captain Cook connections) and Scarborough (a favourite with kids of all ages). These popular resorts offer the usual mix of seaside town attractions.

A forty five minute drive away is Dalby Forest with it's "Go-Ape" high wire experience, renowned mountain bike trails and visitor centre.

Village Amenities and Events:

Fishing is available in the River Seven which flows through the village.

Internet Access is available in the Village store for £1.00 per hour.

A Mobile Fish and Chip van calls at the village every Friday in the Summer between 6.45 - 7.15pm (recommended)!

Rosedale Show is held annually in August and is a popular venue for all the family.

The "Rosedale Circuit Walk" is a 37 mile long distance walk and follows an inner route almost parallel to the Cleveland Way.

A Walking Festival is held in June which includes a variety of walks for all levels.

There is also a fabulous glass studio with viewing gallery owned by Gillies and Jones and a 9-hole pitch and putt course.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually Saturday but it may be possible to be flexible out of season. The cottage is available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week and are quoted in UK pounds. 3 night stays are available in low and mid season at approximately 70% of the weekly rental. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rate.

Old Mill Cottages (OMC) are in the centre of the village, handy for the local shops and pubs. The village is at the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors (NYM) and is ideally situated for easy access to many coastal resorts and historic market towns, such as Whitby, Pickering, Helmsley and York which offer a variety of activities and attractions. The area is suitable for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling, riding and fishing. There are numerous footpaths and bridleways which radiate from the village in every direction just waiting to be explored. The scenery is simply stunning and visitors keep returning year after year.

In the interests of other and future guests pets are not allowed and a strictly, "no smoking policy" in the cottages is in operation.
