About the property

Villa in El Portet, Moraira, Costa Blanca - Peaceful Location, 10 minutes Walk to the Beach

Surrounded by the Zona Verde nature reserve this holiday heaven is close to one of the prettiest beaches on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The beach is blue flag with crystal clear water. It is good for children as it shelves in gently and is sheltered and calm. It is great to just sit on the front, drink in hand and watch the lovely boats and yachts moored in the bay. The property has been recently refurbished to a high standard with new bathrooms and a modern new kitchen for 2016 complete with oven. Moraira, a short drive / walk away along a beautiful coastal road past the marina has a more lively atmosphere with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area including golf, go-karting, water sports, boat hire, fishing cycling and walking . Winter lets are available as the bedrooms have portable radiators and there is an electric coal effect fire in the lounge. Changeover day is Saturday but out of season mid week bookings will be considered. No pets allowed. There are quite steep steps down to the property, there is a hand rail. Something to bear in mind with small children or older people.

About Wendy Newton

We recently bought this pretty villa having researched the south coast of Spain for several years. We live in the Cotswolds in England and enjoy frequent breaks out to El Portet.

We would like a small number of families to enjoy the location ideally returning year after year to share the peacefulness and tranquility.

It has recently been refurbished and we would hope that anyone renting the villa will treat it as their own.

Wendy Newton purchased this bungalow in 2009

Why Wendy Newton chose El Portet

The sea views and surrounding countryside are spectacular The area is not over developed. It still has its Spanish charm and the location and facilities are excellent. There are only 10 properties in the complex which was built about 20 years ago and it has been very well looked after. The gardens have matured and there is lots of space within the nature reserve.

Also it is only an hour from the airport and being 2 hours away from the UK we are able to enjoy many lazy weekends there now that we have finished the refurbishment!

Guestbook comments from the owner

A beautifully presented villa refurbished to a high standard with fantastic views. We loved the apartment and had a very relaxing time. The little extra touches, milk, wine & water were greatly appreciated and made us feel welcome. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking with plastic cups a brilliant idea. We came away feeling very lucky to have found such a nice apartment in such a stunning location for a very reasonable price.

We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the little home from home touches - hankies in the bedroom, kitchen roll etc. It was one of the nicest villas we have stayed in and we would definitely consider returning and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

We did indeed have a wonderful vacation your house..it's perfect! Really well located, we loved the views, it was calm with a nice pool.

You have a beautiful villa best equipped and exceptionally clean like a home from home. A pleasure to lie on the terrace on watch the world go by.

El Portet is a glorious destination but villa not quite up to expectations.

  • 3 of 5

This villa is good value for money in a lovely part of the Costa Blanca and as usual, Moraira and El Portet never fail to deliver an immensely enjoyable holiday.

However, the large number of steep steps which require to be negotiated to reach the accommodation makes it unsuitable for many travellers and this fact was not clearly explained in the online description.

Whilst beautiful, the communal pool and surrounding area are not nearly big enough to accommodate the number of potential guests who may be holidaying in the complex at any one time. Six sun beds are not enough for ten apartments!

On arrival, the villa was stuffy, especially in the bedroom areas, and clearly required to be aired. It was not as clean as we would have expected and despite contacting the villa manager at the end of the first week, as instructed to do if we had bed linen to wash, it remained uncollected thus unwashed, even when we left at the end of our stay.

The destination is beautiful but the accommodation unfortunately did not live up to it's billing.

this was our second visit to the lovely 'small house' with the amazing view. we chose to return due to the early dates - the glazed naya is perfect for extending evenings to feel as though you are still outside! the facilities are first class and as usual, clean and very helpful. the new kitchen really sealed the deal. thoroughly recommended.

Accommodation was immaculate and had great facilities. Balcony view was amazing and I loved sitting out first thing while the world awakes. Pool was a good size but beware if you have children as deep at one end with no signage. Local shop at the bottom of the hill was my daily exercise for the freshly baked morning croissants. We spent most evenings exploring Moraria and the taxi back up the hill is only 8 euro. Wish I had booked for a month and would definitely return. Thank you Wendy!

A Great Week

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent week in the villa in Moraira. It's difficult to imagine how a visitor could be anything but impressed with the accommodation and the resort. We felt that right from our initial contact with the owners to our departure home the organisation was excellent which is very reassuring. Moraira and El Portet are relaxing but busy enough, and full of Spanish character: great beaches, good restaurants, markets, festivals, culture, supermarkets, walks etc. The villa is everything it says on the website. It's very comfortable and well furnished. Everything you need is provided. The view of El Portet bay from the balcony is wonderful and a great place to while away the hours in peace. The pool is perfect - never over-busy when we were there.

All in all, we have nothing but excellent memories.

A little gem in El Portet

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the bungalow for 10 days and it was a real home from home. We did not want to leave. As it was just two of us the layout was perfect for us with the en suite bedroom downstairs and the living areas on the top floor (entrance level) . The bungalow was well equipped and very clean and comfortable with attention to detail at every corner and stunning views of El Portet and the Mediterranean. The property has use of a lovely swimming pool shared by 9 other bungalows, all set in beautiful terraced gardens although not suitable for disabled as there are a lot of steps leading down to the property. From first enquiry, the owner was helpful, pleasant and efficient, making the whole transaction trouble free. We hope to return soon.

Car: recommended

The beach at El Portet is about 10 minutes walk down the hill (15 minutes back!) Its very small but a lovely bay, very safe with great bars and you can sit for hours looking out to see. Other beaches at Moraira are about 30 minute walk or a short drive away.

The nearest airport is Alicante, exactly a 1 hour drive away. An alternative is Valencia which is about 20 minutes further.

Moraira is 2 km away along a pretty coastal road.

Further Details:

There is a shop in El Portet for essentials but for supermarkets you will need to travel into Moraira. There are a few quiet and pretty bars and restaurants in El Portet. Moraira has an abundance of entertainment and facilities.
