About the property

Town House in Skopelos Town, Skopelos, Greek Islands - Quiet location in the oldest part of the town - 50 metres from the port, tavernas and cafes

Town House at Christos in Skopelos town is situated in a quiet location in the oldest part of this Greek Island town. Spacious, elegant and relaxed, there are beautiful views from each of the three floors to the sea and Islands beyond. Town House at Christos is recently renovated. Loving care has been taken to retain its original character whilst providing comfortable modern living.

There are three open plan floors, each is generous, light and airy. The top floor is an open plan living space with large dining table and a modern kitchen, the wardrobe is used for utensils storage. The middle floor of the building is the main bedroom and is also used as a living room with large comfy sofa, the room has double doors leading out onto the balcony, perfect for an evening glass of wine with stunning views.

The ground floor opens into an entrance lobby with a day bed, there are double doors that lead into the generous bathroom / shower room. The daybed has a very comfy single mattress, we also have a fold down single that can be set up if you need two single beds as well as the main double bed on the mid floor.

The front of the building has a large step that we use as a seating area in the evenings. There is a large open space in front of us so our views are from every floor, and, importantly for the old town - we are not ever-looked by other buildings as are many in the narrower streets.

There is a small car park, thirty steps up from the house, - this route also leads to the nearest beach, Agios Konstantinos, about a twenty min walk from the house. The beach is very child friendly and has a couple of tavernas.

Skopelos port is only a few minutes from the house, with its many restaurants, cafes and craft shops. Two evening terrace bars are also only a five minutes walk away from the townhouse, these have amazing views to other Greek Islands of the Aegean.

About Tom Crew

Hello, we're Tom and Suzanne and we bought our Townhouse at Christos after a long adventure travelling through France, Italy, Croatia and other parts of Greece. With a love of islands, green hills and Venetian architecture, Skopelos was the perfect place for us to create a new home from home. We now have two additions to the family - Tallulah, now seven years old, and baby Joe who'll be four in June.

Tom Crew purchased this house in 2004

Why Tom Crew chose Sporades

We bought the House at Christos in a derelict state 14 years ago. It used to be an old shop, hence the two front doors! Years of loving care and renovation have introduced us to the skills and crafts of local people and helped us to understand and appreciate even more what a fantastic place this is.

Whilst renovating the house we were keen to make the most of its unique lofty living spaces and sweeping views, always erring on the side of generous comfortable rooms that help you to unwind and be inspired by the day to day life available to you when you're living here.

The great thing about having a house in the old town is its fantastic combination of its easy access to enjoy the many shops and cafes, with the peace and quite of living in a traffic free street.

What makes this house unique

We love being able to explore the island by day, then relax at night with a choice of places to eat without worrying about parking or taxis. Skopelos also houses a wide selection of local artists and craftspeople, some with their own studios in town.

Christos townhouse was unique to us as it had an indulgent sense of scale that is often rare in houses for two people in small towns. The high ceilings and generously proportioned rooms attracted us straight away to this house and help to add your sense of light airy living, with room to relax and stretch out.

If you wish to stay here out of season please contact us - we prefer the house to be utilised through out the year, it makes a great writers retreat - or simply a place to chill for a while - we offer very good rates for long term.

Notes on accommodation: Strictly a non smoking house. There are lots of cute cats in the town but please don't invite them in. We have a six year old, and a two year old babe, so have added baby gates (Craftsman built - very stylish) and have a pushchair + travel cot in the utility area, so if you are a similar family this might be of interest to you. Outside: The balcony is on the first floor, accessed directly from the bedroom. The front of the building has seating step and has an open public area for sitting out in, or a play area for children (although I would be very careful with a ball as if it goes down the stairs - it'll go all the way to the port). Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The property is cleaned on a weekly basis. Other: Ground floor has generous reception space with day bed, reception leads to bathroom.

Spacious and Beautiful Town House Skopelos - Amazing Sea Views

Beautiful view, stylish house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Tom's house - it is a perfect bolthole for two people or a small family, with excellent facilities, a great location within a short walk of everything you need in Skopelos town but in a nice quiet street slightly above the fray. And (best of all) a stunning view: the pictures are accurate but can't do justice to just how wonderful it is to be in the living space at the top of the house looking out towards the Aegean and Alonissos. We also loved the style of the house, which was chic but with an admirable lightness of touch and sense of appropriateness to the building and its heritage.

Exactly what a Greek traditional hillside town should be, picturesque and photogenic at every turn.

  • 5 of 5

Christos House has a tremendous position high in the old town with views across the tiled roofs of the neighbouring buildings down to the harbour. Plenty of character and charm, a must for any fan of Greece.

A fabulous, stylish getaway in a beautiful position.

  • 5 of 5

Tom and Suzanne have worked hard to make this a truly lovely place to stay. Their house sits on the crown of one of Skopelos's many hills, with a clear view out over the harbour. It has been sensitively restored and lovingly furnished. The top room is a magical space to spend time in. Throw open the shutters and the panoramic windows allow light and breezes through. It is impossible to be disappointed staying here.

Skopelos is such a beautiful place. We were met from the boat by Jade who welcomed us and took us to the house and explained how things worked. Tom's house is fabulous, everything we needed was there. It's light, airy, clean and stylish. It's quite a climb from the port which, at first, we found rather hard (we are an older couple). However as the days went by we became fitter and fitter - an excellent cardiac work-out! The huge advantage of the effort was the view - absolutely spectacular. There is a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, powerful shower and a washing machine with English controls!

The house is just beautiful. It has been lovingly restored and they've done a brilliant job of it. It's in an ideal location in Skopelos old town and has great views over the harbour. Absolutely recommended, I would certainly stay again. Thank you Tom.

Superb accomodation on a beautiful island

  • 5 of 5

We're just back from Skopelos and had a great time. We've stayed in 5 or 6 town houses in Skopelos over the past few years and none of them come close to this one in terms of the feel, style and comfort; the restoration you've done combines the best of UK standards but still retains its Greek character. The property is just as you describe it - if anything it is undersold and Yvonne was available to answer any questions. Next time we go to Skopelos, we'll want to stay here.

Our very friendly handyman George is a keen organic gardener and can supply seasonal produce. Also our Housekeepers run a Kayaking centre on the island, a great day out, suitable for all levels, was a lot gentler than I expected it to be, and a lovely way to see the island.

It is a two minute walk down to the port with a beach area, there is very pleasant beach 15 min walk from house past the Castro. The main beaches of the Island are a 10 min bus ride away, starting with Stafylos where there is also a nudy beach. There are many beaches around the Island all with their own qualities and in all shapes and sizes, most are small pebbles, there are some sand and also rocky. There are buses serving most of these.

Fly to Skiathos airport, then 5 min taxi ride to port (agree fare before ride), followed by boat or Hydro foil to the Island, around 45 mins, arriving by boat is a great way to arrive, the ferry pulls around into the port to reveal the cascading town.

House at Christos is sitting right in the middle of a listed beautiful Aegean Greek Town. There are 123 Churches and chapels in the old town alone, cliff top views, a Venetian fortress, there are a many walks to ancient monasteries and through the countryside directly from the house. Around the Island you'll find many of the scenes for the shooting of Mamma Mia including Kastani beach and Agios Ioannis Chapel where the wedding scene was set.

Further Details:

All local amenities available in the town, with further supermarkets just outside.

Our Housekeepers offer Kayaking Lessons and trip around the Island

Our Handyman George has an organic garden with produce year round
