Traditional Sea-Side Cottage, full of character, a real 'home from home'.

Updated: 01-Oct-2016
Cottage in Brixham, South Devon, England, UK - Short walk to harbour, beaches, independent shops, cafes , pubs & restaurants.

Daisy cottage is a cosy traditional house situated in Brixham. Full of character features; beams, log fire, roll top bath. Ideal for family holidays, romantic breaks. There is a private enclosed courtyard adjoining the rear of the property. The cottage is within short walking distance to the town and harbour with all amenities; shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. The harbour is a great place to spend the day "crabbing". No need to use the car as there are good transport links to Torquay, Paignton and Dartmouth; bus, train and Ferries. Take a ride on the Steam train. Visit NT properties; Agatha Christies house on River Dart. Lovely beaches in the area to suit families, diving enthusiasts. Swim at the open air saltwater pool. There are great coastal walks nearby, Berry Head nature reserve, Dartmoor. A short drive to Paignton, Torquay and Dartmouth and Plymouth.

As soon as you enter the cottage you will realise this is a very much loved cottage and not your average holiday home. We have furnished the cottage in keeping with its style and age. If your looking for a quirky, homely, cottage then Daisy cottage is for you.

About the Owner

We purchased Daisy Cottage in 2004 and have been spending weekends and holidays there, along with our children and grandchildren ever since. We enjoy the fact we can park the car and walk to the harbour and the many great places to walk and eat. Many a happy hour spent at the local beach. We also enjoy visiting Dartmoor with its wonderful scenery. The cottage has been refurbished over the years, but retains it's original character and is our 'home from home'.

Having stayed at holiday cottages ourselves over the years, we know what made the difference in making our stays enjoyable. We expect comfortable beds and fresh bedding, well equipped kitchens and a relaxing full size bath.

As busy people ourselves we recognise the importance of being able to unwind and relax in comfort.

We arrived at Daisy Cottage for Easter 2012. What a wonderful cottage to find at the end of a long journey. Its lovely old front door with frosted glass panels hides a wonderment of a cottage at every turn.

From the lounge with comfortable leather sofas & wood- burning stove. You move into a lovely cosy country kitchen, complete with pine table and chairs. It really is home from home.Through the kitchen there is a cosy sun/music room with audio books and tapes, which looks out onto a small walled area, with chairs and a table. It is lit for night time use, glass of wine in hand to watch the stars.

Up the stairs there is a fantastic Victorian themed bathroom, complete with free standing bath positioned in the middle of the room, perfect for those quiet moments of contemplation. One single bedroom sits at the end of the corridor. Into the double bedroom, complete with ensuite shower.

Up the stairs to a large, beamed attic bedroom, with comfortable kingsize bed . Sweet dreams!

Perfect cottage for a perfect break!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Daisy Cottage for a family christmas. (We have 2 small children aged 2 and 7). We had the best time ever! Daisy cottage is beautiful and in a fantastic location. Everything we needed was right there, and lots of extras too. The owners, who are very friendly, have thought of it all. A toy cupboard, logs for the fire, baby equipment, extra bedding, ( the beds were made up for our arrival and smelt lovely and fresh), every utensil in the kitchen you can think of, DVDs and books, you name it, it was there. A real home from home. Although we went as a family, my husband and l would like to return for a romantic break, great for escaping!

We will certainly be looking to return in the Summer holidays and would not hesitate to recommend Daisy Cottage. It's a true gem!

Finally, we would like to say thank you to the owners for making our christmas truly memorable. Fantastic time had by all.

Like a real 'home from home' in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our holiday in Daisy cottage, Brixham. The cottage had everything we needed and as a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers it suited our needs perfectly. On arrival, everything was clean and ready to use. The cottage was beautiful with two double bedrooms, a single bedroom all of which were of a good size. The bathroom was fantastic with a lovely roll top bath and a large shower. At the back of the cottage is a small room which leads out onto the courtyard which was a nice place to relax. The kitchen had everything you could think of and was a great size. The lounge was cosy and it would be lovely to use the open log fire in the winter. Sue and Mike kept us informed of any information we required during our stay and the neighbour Steve was also very helpful. We would easily recommend this property to others as it was the perfect holiday home in an ideal location. Brixham boasts a fantastic harbour and the cottage is within a 10-15 minute walk away from a variety of great attractions. We highly recommend the boat trips to Torquay (£3 return) and to Dartmouth (£8.75 return). Splashdown water park at Goodrington is great for the kids. There are plenty of great beaches within a short driving distance and it was lovely to return to the cottage to relax after a long day. Berry Head is also a must see, the views from the clifftops are stunning. Within Brixham, there are plenty of fantastic pubs, cafes and amazing take away fish and chips! We would recommend the new cocktail bar (Liberty's) on the harbour and Breakwater bistro for cream teas!

We would like to return to Daisy cottage especially in the winter so that we can make full use of the open fire!

Thank you for a great holiday!

Fab location, A lovely and very clean Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Daisy Cottage with my husband and son. We found the cottage itself to be of very good standard. It was so clean which is always so important to me. It had all the things needed to make our week very comfortable. The shower was nice and powerful. It was our first time to Brixham and we loved it. The short walk from the cottage to the harbour area each day for our evening meal was lovely. Plenty of lovely restaurants to choose from. Lots of shops to explore. We went outside of Brixham also to visit various places and our overall holiday was very good. The weather was not so kind to us that week but it never spoilt a thing. The owners were really helpful and friendly and even posted back an item I'd left ! I would recommend this property and this location.

Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We booked Daisy Cottage for New Year. There are four of us, 2 adults and 2 boys (10 and 8). The cottage is amazing, really comfortable and clean. Plenty of room and the attic room and the bathroom are really great spaces. Everything you could think of was provided and more. The walk into Brixham is 10mins downhill and a taxi back with shopping up the hill is only £3.

Lovely Cottage

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at Daisy cottage with my husband, daughter, her partner and their 2 children (4 and 11 weeks old).

We really enjoyed our stay, what a lovely cottage!

The bedrooms were lovely (especially the attic room!) and the bathroom was gorgeous with a roll top bath.

Everything you needed was to hand and the children loved exploring the toys/games provided.

No problems parking as we always managed to find a space either just outside or around the corner.

Amenities close by and lots to explore in the surrounding areas.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a mini break away before our main Summer Holiday. We found this cottage on Owners Direct and enquired if we could book for 3 nights. We are a family of 2 adults and 1 son (aged 9). On arrival, the cottage was spotless and was deceptively large in-side. The open fire looked warm and cosy, but didn't need to use as the weather was mild - the wood and lighters were waiting just in case. The central heating kept the cottage warm. The kitchen had everything we needed. We didn't use the reading room, but had the door open to the small courtyard at the rear. Upstairs are 3 really good sized bedrooms, the attic room was our favourite, it was bright and large. Our son slept in the 2nd room, this room had a small shower room, we didn't use as we were very taken with the bathroom and the large bathroom which had a victorian bath. The 3rd room was a good size with blinds. The walk to Brixham harbour took 10 minutes. The cottage is in an ideal location. Can highly recommend the walk to Berry Head, it was a beautiful day and well worth the 40 minute walk to view coast line. We walked down through a nature reserve and stopped off for afternoon tea at the Berry Head hotel and sat and enjoyed the views from their balcony and then walked back to the cottage via pebble beach and the town centre. Can highly recommend this cottage.
