About the property

A Bastide in The Countryside Nearby to Beautiful and Historical Aix-en-Provence, South of France - A Bastide With Private Pool Set Amongst A Beautiful Rose Garden

The Bastide is situated down a peaceful country lane in the Provencal countryside and yet is only 8 minutes drive away from the bustling cafes, historical fountains, museums and beautiful buildings of Aix-en-Provence. Olive, fig, cherry and almond trees are found in the 2000m2 landscaped garden. The Bastide is South facing with a large wooden terrace and with an eating area shaded by pretty wisteria and roses making it a wonderful place to spend time with friends or family.

About Samantha Mureau

My name is Samantha Mureau and I'm English, from London and I came away to Aix en Provence to study at University.

It is at the Aix University that I met my French husband, Cedric, whom is from Bordeaux.

Together after having 2 young boys, we decided to do the 'big move' out of London and to the South of France and back to our University town.

We have been in Aix for just over 5 years now and love it very much but also love to travel to discover other places and would love everyone to enjoy Aix and the surrounding areas as much as we do.

Samantha Mureau purchased this villa in 2009

Why Samantha Mureau chose Aix-en-Provence

We fell in love with the Bastide des Roses because it reminded me of an English garden what with the beautiful roses but mixed up and growing amongst olive trees, Cypress, fig, almond trees and in the heat!

We also loved the road where the Bastide is situated as it is tranquil but with neighbours around so not too in the middle of nowhere and with a non-stop shop at the end of the road which we can walk too and then jump in a car for a little more action and fun in Aix with the bustling cafes and wonderful cafe culture lifestyle. Aix is also stunning, from an historical point of view, the age old buildings, the fountains and the rich artistic background.

What makes this villa unique

We fell in love with our home for the wonderful hand-painted Provencal tiles in the kitchen, the large sized bedrooms, which are hard to find and also for the lovely garden. We fell in love with our home for the outdoor life and living and much as the indoor, knowing that we would be spending much more time outside.

I love walking through the archway of roses, sitting under the wisteria on the decking having lovely lunches and the wonderful swimming pool and great hide and seek places for the children to play in. I hope that you love our Bastide as much as we do.

Comfortable, peaceful home from home accommodation with lots of space. Our three children loved it. The house was clean, well maintained and stylish - a great place to explore from. We felt the owners were very helpful. Would definitely recommend friends.

Fantastic holiday villa suitable for families

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic holiday in this villa, would highly recommend.

We have 3 children under 7 and they loved the villa and the pool. There are more children's books in the bedrooms than most libraries!

Really well stocked with kitchen appliances and equipment. Huge outside deck with lots of shade meant every meal time could be outside.

On the outskirts of a village but well positioned for excursions, we found loads to do in the surrounding area. 40 minutes drive from the beach.

A lovely retreat, had a great family holiday

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in this lovely, peaceful property.

The house is as described but felt bigger in reality.

The property is 20 mins drive from TGV and about 30 mins from the airport.

The house is situated in secluded gardens with a large pool, there is a most beautiful terrace with a pergola. The house, gardens and pool are very clean and well maintained.

The pool area is very spacious and enough room for 6 adults ( our children being young adults)

I would recommend this lovely home to families of small and teenage children.

We had telephone contact with both Sam and Cedric and their customer service, from booking to after the holiday, has been great.
