Overview

Property

Updated: 17-Nov-2016
Villa in Skopelos, Greek Islands - Peaceful Location on the edge of Skopelos town, Wonderful Sea View

Skopelos island, known from ancient times as Peparithos island, offers everything a visitor could want for an ideal holiday. To enjoy all of the benefits of Skopelos island Villa Yiannoula offers the perfect accommodation choice. The house is just 30m from the sea, at the edge of Skopelos main village at the old port, next to one of the most picturesque places on the island, the church on the rock "Panagitsa". The villa is very traditional but also offers all the modern comforts that you might need. The accessibility of the house is very easy and there are wonderful views towards the sea and the port. The house is large and comfortable (152 sq m) and can host either 2-5 adults or a family of 6.

About the Owner

I am Pandelis Idriotis and I was born on the island of Skopelos, where my family come from. I have completed tourism and cooking school. I inherited Villa Yiannoula from my grandmother and since then I have completely refurbished it to provide a high standard of accommodation and a very comfortable place to stay for visitors to the island. My objective is for people who visit the house to feel like personal friends rather than tourists.

Returning for the 5th time & WOW, better than ever

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Skopelos since 2011, and have always stayed at VillaYiannoula. It is a beautiful town house villa on 3 levels. Pandelis and his mother always look after us so well. Any help we need, Pandelis is always there to help us out. We wanted to hire a car and he organised this for us with ease, when we went to Magic Cars to collect the car and keys we were given a jar of homemade marmalade as a thank you gift!! I mean, when does that happen?? Pandelis mother is so lovely, she comes every couple or three days and changes the towels and sheets and the house is immaculate and clean. Then, when we get back from a hard day at the beach or driving around the island, we find a lovely moussaka in the kitchen and another time she brought us a cheese pie, still warm from the oven. I don't think I have ever experienced hospitality like this anywhere else, and I and my friends have travelled alot, and this is why we keep coming back time after time. The main bedroom has had a bit of an upgrade, a new beautiful bed, bedside cabinet, dressing table and chair. The lounge area the same, new sofas and arm chair, alongwith coffee table, television console and dresser. A beautiful room. I can't say enough good things about this house, but mainly the hospitality shown to us time after time. Location is at the end of the harbour town, which is great, no noise from any of the restaurants, just the sound of the sea, but close enough to walk to shops, restaurants, etc. Literally takes 4 or 5 minutes if that. It is a shame we have to share this with everyone else, we consider VillaYiannoula our second home. We will be back!!!

Wonderful hidden treasure of a holiday home !

  • 5 of 5

A truly wonderful holiday experience from beginning to end, Superb destination, have already booked for same time next year, very easy to get to, landing at Skiathos airport, 5 minute cab to harbour, straight into ferry ticket office to collect our tickets, restaurants and bars to dine or drink at while waiting and watching your ferry dock , lovely 1 hour sailing to SKOPOLOS, Met Pandelis the lovely greek owner as we disembarked, he took us the 5/600 yards to the corner of the harbour to his house , which was imacculate ! Newly decorated for the season, clean and fresh, he really does care about his guests, we were looked after all of our stay, even when we had a flat tyre on the car hire he helped us contact the car hire people and it was sorted in 30 mins, . Pandelis welcomed us to his house with a nice bottle of wine which we enjoyed on the veranda, his mother did a good job of leaving clean towels , and a great house keeper, she kept the place spic and span, even cooked us some home made SKOPOLS CHEESE PIE yum yum ! The overall opinion of this holiday destination is marvellous, the views over the harbour at sunrise are to behold , great all day and pleasant to sunbathe privately on balconies [2] of! Everywhere on the island is reachable within 40 minutes in a very reasonable priced hire car,Great beaches most with restaurants on for dining and all day drinks ! And back at the house,The bars and restaurants are all within a stones throw, great little hidden tavernas and restaurants just up the many small streets all close to the house, TREAT YOURSELVES, I promise you wont be disappointed with Pandelis, and VILLA YIANNOULA, a really warm welcome awaits!

Fantastic hospitality, location and views

  • 3 of 5

My friends and I (3 ladies) have been coming to Skopelos since 2011, always staying at Villayiannoula, because of the location, views and hospitality of not only the owner and his family but also all the people of Skopelos. We were so lucky to come across this jewel of a find. It really has everything, because, although in the town and near to everything, restaurants, shops, bakery, supermarket (small), slightly larger one's on the edge of town, it is at the end of the bay, (very quite) with amazing views out to see and across the bay. So, you get the best of both. The first couple of years we took the bus around the island to reach the various beaches but then decided to hire a small car, and if you are a nervous driver abroad, please don't worry because this is literally a one road island, so very easy to drive. About the owner and his family, they are wonderful people, they bring clean towels and bedding every 3 days, and keep the house very clean. The mother also brought very tasty cheese pie, which was so lovely to have on our return from a days travelling around. I should of written a review before but although not wanting to share Villayiannoula with anyone else, I thought it only fair to say how much we enjoy going every year, and how perfect Skopelos is.

Traditional, clean and well located villa

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at Villa Yiannoula for 6 nights after a week sailing in the Sporades. The accommodation was extremely clean and tidy. Set over 3 floors it did take us some getting used to having to climb a couple of flights of stairs to use the loo! Although tastefully decorated the property has very basic facilities. After eating out every night the previous week I was keen to cook, but found this difficult as the villa had only a few utensils and the small camping style oven made it difficult to cope with more than one dish! We also realised there was no hot water in the kitchen on our first day. We contacted Pandelis the owner and he came over immediately to sort out which we were very pleased about. Turned out the plumber never connected the hot water!! This was sorted by the time we returned later that day. The villa has 2 generous balconies but only one has cover and this one is off the second bedroom, so was a bit inconvenient to use at times. The listing says 3 bedrooms, the 3rd bedroom is in fact a second living room situated on the ground floor and which is an access route to the kitchen. Not particularly private. We were also told the property had Internet but in fact this was only gained by using the wifi from the cafe/bar next door. Some parts of the main balcony on the villa could pick up a signal but this was not very reliable. My 2 teenage boys ended up spending a lot of time in said cafe/bar. This was one of my reasons for choosing Villa Yiannoula over another property in Skiathos, which would have been more convenient. On the whole we did have an enjoyable stay at this property and the location is ideal as near enough to reach all the amenities but not too near to be disturbed by the late bars. The views were stunning from the balconies and we enjoyed many nights eating outside watching all the activity. The air conditioning was much appreciated and we all slept well as it was very hot at this time. I would recommend this property to families and those with older children as the stairs are quite deep in the villa which may be awkward for small children. Pandelis is also an excellent manager and dealt with any issues we had promptly.

We loved this beautiful house !!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful and traditional house in a perfect setting. There is lots of space and it is kept incredibly clean by Pandelis' mother, who comes in almost every other day and changes the sheets and towels and cleans and polishes. We have never stayed anywhere like it!! We had a plateful of gorgeous cheese pies left out for us on two occasions. The views are amazing, overlooking the delightful church, the mountains and the harbour. There is always something to catch your attention. The location is quiet but yet only a two minute stroll into the centre of the town. Pandelis is a great host. He is the only person I know that really doesn't care about taking your money. It was the middle of the second week before I was able to get him to accept it. He treated us to drinks several times, a very genuine young man. Thank you so much Pandelis.

Skopelos town was a big surprise. There is a fascinating old town behind its more commercial façade and you can wander forever up and down its narrow streets, always finding somewhere new. I would definitely recommend climbing the steps by the church and continuing up until you reach a dear little café. We called it Paradise, the views are amazing and it is so peaceful. Do try the Dakos, it is unforgettable. The lady is just lovely, she walked us down to the harbour after a few drinks avoiding most of the steps.

There are regular buses to all the main beaches but car hire was very cheap. We paid 65Euros for three days. This allows you to get off the beaten track and it is honestly well worth seeing. The little church, featured in Mama Mia is fantastic. It is a steep climb but well worth it for the views at the top.

There are of course many restaurants and tavernas to choose from and you will find your favourites so I wont comment too much, though we did like Ty Kymata situated over on the strip leading to the church.

All in all a fabulous holiday.
