Cottage in Tideswell (Peak District), Derbyshire - Located In The Heart Of The National Park

Located in the heart of the Peak District National Park, This is a two bedroom quality cottage. It has been beautifully restored, individually designed with attention to detail with all modern amenities. It features oak beams, gas log stove, gas central heating, double glazing, enclosed courtyard and is an ideal place for walking, cycling and relaxation at any time of the year. All our beds are exceptionally comfortable and the cottage is spotlessly clean, modern and very attractive. The cottage is situated in the centre of the village of Tideswell with easy access to village shops, cafe, pubs and the 'cathedral of the Peaks'. There is ample, pets are welcome strictly by prior arrangement off street car parking. We pride ourselves of the warmest welcome and the highest standards (we have a Trip Adviser review). We have been welcoming visitors for over 18 years, many of whom come back year on year and struggle to leave!

We purchased the Barn (which is a Grade II Listed Building full of character) 21 years ago to move into the beautiful Peak District. We have been here ever since and live right next door to the Barn. Tideswell and the Peak District is a wonderful place to live and work let alone come for a holiday! We love the location of the Village - and a Village with heart and activity. Tideswell does not suffer from hordes of tourists (such as Castleton, Buxton & Bakewell) so you will meet local people who work locally and are happy to pass the time of day with you. It is an exceptionally friendly Village and you immediately feel at home once you arrive. We get many, many people who return year on year -

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Tideswell is the ideal location for both serious and not so serious worker or cyclist. The Monsal Trail provides even flat ground up here in the peak.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Manchester International which is approximately 45 minutes. East Midlands Airport is also only 50 minutes away. Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster is just over 1 hour away.

Birmingham Airport is also just over 1 hour away.

The nearest main train station is Chesterfield which is 30 minutes away. Sheffield railway station is 45 minutes away from the cottage.

Distances:

Bakeswell is 8 miles and Buxton is also 8 miles away from Tideswell.

Chatsworth is approximately the same distance away.

Tideswell does not suffer from the maddening crowds and is an ideal central location to explore the magic of the Peak District National Park

Further Details:

Markeygate Barn is an ideal location to discover the Peak District, to relax and unwind or get adventurous and try something new such as a challenging walk (on Mam Tor), or even take to the skies in a para glider! There is so much choice you can take the Peak District on at your own pace and still want to come back to see more!

Tideswell is a 'real working' village which sustains itself. The Village is famous for the large church in the centre of the village known as 'the cathedral of the peaks' It is very impressive and well worthy of a visit once you arrive. Tideswell is also very well known for its Well Dressing and Village Carnival. This takes place on the 3rd Saturday in June every year.The village has 3 great local pubs, a cracking cafe, chemist, family butchers, bakers, fish and chip shop and a Co-Op supermarket which is open 7 days a week until 10pm everynight! We actively encourage guests to use the local shops and drink the local ale to keep the village sustainable - its also very 'green' these days!

We are ideally located right in the very heart of the Peak District National Park. You can easily walk (or ride a bike) out of the front door into unspoilt countryside. If you want more formal activities you can be at Chatsworth, Haddon Hall or Bakewell/Buxton in a short time. The Village has excellent facilities including a host of shops; butcher, baker, chemist, supermarket, bank, tea rooms, coffe shop, deli, fish and chip shop and of course 3 very good pubs all serving local food and drink. Tideswell is a charming 'real' village made up mainly of residents where life seems to slow down to a past era. Relax and enjoy the setting.
