About the Owner

Hello, I'm Peter and I moved from London to south Morocco for all-year sun. Sidi Ifni is a magical place built in the Spanish art-deco style right on the edge of the Sahara. It's easy to spend a lot of time birdwatching, fishing and walking... It's called "the great escape!"

Nothing but positives to say about the place and the people (owner and locals)

  • 5 of 5

Peter the owner is extremely helpful, and Massaud the driver, Aicha the cleaner and Joussef the Property Manager are all lovely.

If you arrive at night you drive through the town and down this bumpy little residential street and then go through this unremarkable little white entrance door in the side of the building. But then suddenly you're inside and there's all this space and big windows everywhere and then you open up some of them and you can immediately hear the waves crashing in at the bottom of the cliffs. When you wake up in the morning you see that from the all the terraces you have a glorious view of the beach (perfect for evening G&Ts), and also a very long swimming pool.

Shops and the town are within easy walking distance and have all that you'll need. We alternated eating out for lunch or dinner with snacking at home for the other main meal of the day. The picks of the bunch we found to be Nomad (great host, decent value for quality on offer, we'd say keep with the simpler dishes as maybe some things on the menu were a little bit too clever for their own good) and Gran Canaria in town. Aicha also cooks great homemade Moroccan food - you pay a bit more than you would to eat out, but we thought it was worth it.

The beach at Sidi Ifni is long and perfectly adequate, but we found the beaches up the road at Legzirha and down the road at Ouarzeg to be prettier. Legzirha is like a holiday resort for Moroccans and can get quite busy - but it is an interesting slice of life watching them bring their tagines down and setting up to cook. Cafe Arnou was great for lunch. Ouarzeg was very quiet (we went twice, max 50 people on the kilometer of beach close to the steps - no-one at all beyond that). The guys from the cafe picked us up in the morning and took us home at night (arranged by Joussef) and gave us more great food than we could ever eat - for around £15 a head. The day-long safari in a 4 x 4 to the fort and then onto Plage Blanche is also unmissable.

There is very little tourist development here (more up the coast in Mirleft and beyond), we only saw maybe a dozen other Europeans in the fortnight we were here. If you're considering this place for your holiday then you're clearly up for a bit of an adventure - and here you're right in the middle of local life. It can be a bit ragged round the edges (town not villa), but it is 100% genuine.

Embrace it and you'll enjoy it as much as we did (family group aged 10-82).

Beautiful villa!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late at night and received a friendly welcome from the house manager, Youssef. Youssef was extremely helpful, constantly on hand advising on the best places to visit in and around Sidi Ifni and beyond.

The villa is spread over three floors and beautifully furnished. There are ample books for reading, and a hammock for relaxation. The swimming pool is large and just beyond the pool you can see a beautiful view of Sidi Ifni beach. We spent many afternoons on the deck chairs in glorious sunshine, listening to the sound of the waves during the day and night. The bedrooms are spacious and overlook beautiful views of the beach.

Sidi Ifni represents the authentic, unspoilt Morocco; the people are warm, friendly and helpful, and the area isn't as crowded with hustle and bustle as are other bigger Moroccan cities.

Only a fifteen minute walk is the Hamman - a truly memorable experience where we were scrubbed down as never before and left feeling truly invigorated!

The people we met made our stay truly memorable.

Aicha, the cook, was very friendly, coming every day to the property.

Masud, the driver, was equally friendly, taking us beyond Sidi Ifni, and we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in Tiznit where Masud kindly offered to take us to the shops for souvenir shopping.

Khalid, the desert tour guide, led us through a truly spectacular day trip through the desert, where we encountered camels, breathtaking views of the desert and much more!

Overall, I would highly recommend the villa to anyone considering to come to Sidi Ifni. The beautiful villa, combined with the friendly warmth of the people we met everyday who made our holiday more memorable, made this one of the most unique and special holidays we have experienced.

We really hope to return at some point in the future!

The perfect villa!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a holiday that is a bit out of the ordinary and slightly different to the usual package then you are looking in the right place.

When you book Peter's villa you are not only booking the most amazing villa you will probably stay in but you are booking with peace of mind and the knowledge that you will be looked after from start to finish.

From enquiry to departure, Peter was always quick to respond to any question. We chose to to be picked up at the airport by taxi (£45 each way). It took about 2 1/2 hrs and an experience in itself! We are a family of 5 with 3 children (17,15,8). We were met by Yousef ( speaks great English) who was on hand daily to give tours and help organise anything we needed- days out, taxis etc. Aicha, the housekeeper was lovely and kept out of the way unless you wanted a chat in French or to arrange a wonderful home cooked Moroccan meal- highly recommended.

The villa is luxurious. We arrived late to a more than ample welcome basket (with wine!). By the way wine can be bought easily from the nearby hotel and get a beer while you choose!

Wifi kept the teenagers happy and the polis wonderful.the hammock, which all the children slept in at some point was as they said 'awesome'. Don't fill your case with books as there is a library of all sorts to suit all needs!

If you can drag yourself away from the villa then explore he town. To be honest it takes some getting used to as a woman and I did dress modestly but everyone we talked to was polite and happy to chat and not at all pushy.

We arranged a day out to the Sahara which a memory we will have forever- picnic included!

The beach is a few minutes walk away and good for surfing/ body boarding.

we used the ATMs to change our money which was probably the easiest way.

We have returned home with many memories, feeling relaxed and a longing to return one day.

If you book, you will not regret it!

First thing to say is that I love this coast. Once you get away from Agadir to the south you find unspoilt beaches and friendly people. I know Morocco well as I was based in Casa for some years. This part of Morocco is my favourite. The second thing is – hire this villa if you get the chance; it’s probably the best one on the coast. It’s a one-off design, it’s not in a tourist development, there are stunning views, a very spacious interior and it’s not overlooked. We’ve stayed in several villas and for us and our kids this is our favourite. Sidi Ifni itself is quite special – an old Spanish town that’s not really a tourist resort. It feels gentle and safe if a bit left behind the times. The villa is in a new residential area so you have Moroccan families living nearby and you become part of the community. A lot of coastal villas are in tourist developments not near a town – so you need a car and can feel cut off. This villa is within 10 minutes walk of everything you need. Ifni has great fresh food markets – the fish is incredibly fresh – and restaurants. Another plus about the villa is that the staff really help make your holiday easy without getting in the way. The villa is cleaned daily, the maid will help cook and it’s also possible to have food delivered or to have a chef come in. For kids it’s a plus that the beach is in view of the terrace, so they can run wild and still be called when lunch is ready. But they also spend a lot of time in the pool! On price it compares well with villas that are a bit standard to be honest. For my money it’s worth paying extra to enjoy all this space… We will certainly return.

a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

Myself and husband, along with daughter and her boyfriend stayed at this idyllic villa in April / May. Unfortunately we only had a week - we could have stayed for months! The villa is spectacular. It is bright, spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The photographs do not do it justice. I doubt we will ever find another place that matches this one.

The villa is cleaned daily and the villa manager also visits daily to ensure everything is OK. He is also able to give good advice on possible visits and can arrange taxis for same. We were somewhat lazy - I think most would be when you have such a wonderful place to stay - but did visit the Moroccan equivalent of Durdle Door (Legzira) which is perhaps superior to our Dorset example as there are four arches here! We had an enjoyable walk along the quiet beach (though I guess it will be busier at the height of the season), followed by a lovely fish lunch at one of the the little restaurants right on the beach.

We didn't take advantage of having a meal cooked for us in the villa as we were happy doing almost nightly barbecues on the patio using fish, meat and vegetables from the local market just a 15 minute walk away. There is also a well stocked supermarket and patisserie which is a 10 minute walk. (Husband used the bicycle from the garage a couple of times).

The town of Sidi Ifni had a few tourists but remains unspoilt and untainted. We had a couple of lunches here - the Gran Canaria had great food with great service.

There is one or more of the villa's terraces which gets the sun at some point of the day though we found in April / May that the sun didn't appear until after midday. The pool then gives welcome relief from the heat - a bit chilly initially!

The transfer is a long one - over two hours - but worth it - and Peter's driver Bashir is extremely pleasant and accommodating enabling a jewellery shopping trip for my daughter in Tafroute (recommended) on the return journey. (Cost of transfer £45 each way).

If you want luxurious peace and relaxation in a quiet and unspoilt part of Morocco along with the feel and experience of a totally different culture, then this is the place.

Owner's Response: I'm pleased you enjoyed the villa so much. It's a great design offering many spaces to relax in. Ifni isn't a developed resort so it's a great place for those who want to 'get away from it all'. It's quiet, safe and friendly which is what you've found. Thanks for giving future guest an idea of what to expect.

I promise you – it’s easy to sit on the terrace here watching the sea all day… The view is so big you see the curveture of the earth. When you’ve finished watching the view do some sunbathing, grill some fish, go swimming – in the pool or the sea, take your pick. Anyway – we loved this place for a group of six and everybody was happy. It’s better than the pictures and the write up that’s for sure.

It’s very artistic and zen. When you visit get Abdullah to come and cook for you – amazing.

From the Owner

I designed and built the house with help from an architect friend. It's a special site which allows for uninterrupted coastal views. I chose Sidi Ifni because the town and region remain unspoiled - we're on the edge of wilderness.

From the Owner

This part of Morocco is unspoilt and the noise of the ocean is the only interruption. Our terraces are not over-looked which offers a rare privacy. Plus we're right by the beach - surfing or fishing anyone? The design offers an unusual triple-height interior with amazing space and light. It's a place removed from the rest of the world - perfect for unwinding from a high-pressured job.
