About the property

Click past the last photo & wait 10 seconds to view the video of peaceful, private Villa Ambelonas & its stunning sea views

A spacious open plan design, comfortably accommodates up to 6 adults plus 2 children or babies.

Peaceful, private and not overlooked, this Villa is a perfect location for your precious holiday time. Situated at the end of a private road in pretty countryside, 10 mins drive down to Skala town & its lovely sandy beaches, with stunning 180 degree sea views, private pool & BBQ in 1 acre of garden.

This 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom comfortable villa is an ideal romantic hideaway for a couple, but equally suits families and friends sharing with no arguments over who has the best room - they are all en suite, similar in size and equally lovely. We can also accommodate 2 extra children or babies in cots or comfortable fold down beds.

Easy access with no steep steps, the villa is very private, not overlooked, a well equipped home from home, designed in a light, spacious, contemporary open plan style.

The villa has air-conditioning/heating throughout and is comfortably furnished to a high standard, well equipped for couples & families with lots of extras such as free Wi-Fi (3GB per day), Bose sound dock, Satellite TV (limited channels), Wii, swing ball, badminton & tennis rackets, DVD/CD/book library, Egyptian cotton bedding, cushioned outdoor loungers, cool box plus many other extras. Masseuse, private chef, grocery delivery & daily maid service available on request at additional charge.

Outside a large shady covered terrace with bougainvillea clambering up the pillars is an essential outdoor living & snoozing space, with ample room for dining plus sofas to relax & escape the midday heat. We love sitting on the shady terrace & huge sunny patio, enjoying the ever changing views across the sea to mainland Greece & the neighbouring island of Zante, watching the yachts sailing past, with a glass of chilled local Robola wine. We hope you love the villa as much as we do. We wish you a very happy holiday!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a short note to extend my gratitude for everything you did to make our stay at the villa wonderful. The property cannot be described on a website or in photos in a manner that will ever do it justice and it is by far the best property we have stayed in over the last ten years.

The children and adults alike had a fantastic break and I would happily recommend your villa to friends and family.

We eat a few times at the local taverna and can say with confidence we found the food and service to be fantastic with some views that you would struggle to better any where in the world.

Third holiday in Villa Ambelonas

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely love this property. The views are stunning and uninterrupted. It benefits from a high degree of privacy and tranquillity. The swimming pool is a good size and well designed. The villa is well equipped, well maintained, kept clean and the beds are very comfortable. The property owners provide excellent customer service.Car hire is essential to provide access to local tavernas and grocery stores. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others and hope to stay in it for a fourth time soon.

Magnificent

  • 5 of 5

This property is gorgeous. It is large, airy, spacious, light and really well equipped. The pool is large and has a built in jacuzzi with plenty of loungers and seating. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone. We took our 3 teenagers and it was lovely to watch them unwind and relax. The villa is 10 minutes drive from Skala and 1 mile from a gorgeous taverna. Three large en suite bedrooms, really comfortable beds, large kitchen/lounge so plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The information pack was thorough and the welcome food pack was really useful. This villa is perfectly sited for tranquility, peace, relaxation and rest where the only real decision is whether to sit down in the sun or have a swim. It was spotlessly clean and charming. The books were great to browse through, the dvds useful and games cupboard brilliant. The owner was terribly helpful and nothing felt like too much trouble. Thank you and we recommend to all, especially if you are seeking rest, peace, sun and relaxation. Recalibrate the mind beautifully at Villa Ambelonas.

High Quality Private Villa With Stunning View

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Ambelonas - it was certainly one of the nicest and most comfortable places we have ever stayed in. The high standard of accommodation was very much in keeping with what we were looking for in a holiday villa and very private. The spectacular view from the Villa from morning through the day and into the night was probably the aspect that we will remember most. We also really appreciated the personal touches - e.g. the kitchen was really well stocked, lots of board games, etc. - which made it feel much more like a home than a holiday letting. The island was relatively uncrowded compared to some other Mediterranean destinations that we have visited and we appreciated being up in the slightly cooler hills and at the same time not too far a drive from several nice sandy beaches.

Stunning villa and views and a fantastic island

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in early May 17.

The villa surpassed all our expectations and the views over the south east corner of Kefalonia that were amazing.

The owners were exceptional and made the booking process seamless as well as giving us lots of advice and info prior to our stay.

The location is very private but there are other villas in the area.

Skala is a nice place with plenty of very nice tavernas and bars. Sciroco bar and restaurant, Mikelatos family taverna, Sunrise fish taverna, Sallys bar and Captains bar are highly recommended.

We found this area a good base to explore almost all of the island.

Head up to castle of St George and stop at Il Borgo for lunch. Also make sure you get in Assos and the Melassani caves as well as Myrtos beach. The list of places is long and none will disappoint.

A car is pretty much essential and we used Simotas car rentals. Vigelis, the owner of the car rental, couldn't have been more helpful and the whole process was a pleasure.

We also went sea Kayaking with Sea Kayaking Kefalonia and again the we could not fault the experience and would thoroughly recommend this. We went from Skala to Poros.

The only thing I would point out is that a lot of places, trips, etc. were only starting to get underway so we missed out on a few things we had planned, most only start towards the end of the 2nd week of May, but it didn't spoil a fantastic holiday on a beautiful island.

I thoroughly recommend Kefalonia and Villa Ambelonas.

5 star villa with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

This villa is definitely 5 star and finished to the highest quality with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pool is perfect and the views are exceptional.

We had a wonderful time in your amazing villa & returned from exploring the island this weekend. Kefalonia is a beautiful, verdant island quite different to the ones I've visited in the past. Villa Ambelonas is fabulous & all credit to you both for thinking of every detail to make your guests feel "home from home", we thoroughly enjoyed the peace, fabulous views & privacy, as well as swims in the pool. The maid service was very friendly and accommodating to our needs, the villa was spotless and very well equipped to cater for any family. The local taverna is excellent too. So thank you again, it's a great find & I will recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

An amazing villa, suitable for the whole family. Youngest was 12 months and we were provided everything she needed and eldest was 81 and was able to navigate the villa easily. Teenagers had wifi and satellite tv with a great pool so were kept easily amused. The house really is a home from home, and the owners have tried to cater for every need. Local restaurants are good quality and good value. The only negative, if it is indeed a negative at all, is that the property is on a steep hillside so a car is essential. We did walk up and down to town a couple of times and it's a fair stroll. The roads can be quite narrow so you need to be a confident driver. An amazing holiday experience complete with all the local goats.

Location

From the Owner

It is wonderful to wake up to fabulous sea views! So rare to find somewhere so peaceful & private, a real get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Argostoli, Kefalonia at 35 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Kerali, Old Skala at 2 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Poros at 10 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Kerali, Old Skala at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Skala, Mounda, & Kaminia Turtle Beach at 3 Kilometres Car: recommended

PRIVATE CHEF, CONCIERGE & GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICE: Offers a shopping delivery service, private chefs, weddings, party planning & can organise anything you need during your holiday.

For example you can pre-book your groceries to be delivered to the villa prior to your arrival, together with a first night supper left in the fridge for you to simply reheat and serve when you're ready.

MASSAGE THERAPIST: Available on request, can be organised at the villa.

SAILING: Combine a private sailing holiday round the Ionian islands on luxury skippered yacht Icarus, with a stay at the villa.

COOKING: Our private chef can give cookery lessons in your villa - learn how to cook authentic Greek cuisine, or relax by the pool while chef does the hard work.

WINE: Tours are available to several of Kefalonia's wineries, plus dining options.

DIVING: We can send links to 2 nearby diving companies.

CYCLING: Links available to escorted bike tours, plus local bicycle & motorbike hire.

COAST & BEACH:

The fantastic beaches of Kaminia and Mounda where the Loggerhead Turtles return annually to breed are just two miles away, whilst the family friendly resort of Skala with miles of long, safe, golden sandy beaches, shops, tavernas and water sports is 10 minutes by car.

TRAVEL:

The drive from Kefalonia airport to Old Skala takes 45 mins. The villa is located in the small exclusive hills development of Old Skala. A short drive on steep, narrow, but safe tarmac & concrete mountain roads lead from Skala and Ratzakli to the villa, so car hire is essential. The villa has a private, gated driveway with parking for several cars. April-Oct direct charter & Easyjet flights run from many UK airports. Nov-March fly to Athens, then take a short connecting flight.

ISLAND HOPPING:

If you wish, you can easily island hop and take a day cruise or car ferry to Ithaca (home of legendary Odysseus), Zakinthos/Zante, or visit mainland Greece from nearby Poros to Killini on the Peloponnese. Day trip boats are also available from nearby Skala beach across to Ithaca or around the island cruises.

FURTHER DETAILS:

The villa is situated on the South East coast of Kefalonia, set amongst fragrant scented pines, Cypress trees and wild thyme. The Villa is located in Palia (Old) Skala, on the site of a former raisin producer, with an old stone circle in the grounds and local goats rambling around the area. Old Skala with the ruins of the old village, beautiful rugged landscape, fantastic views and great trails is very popular with walkers.

A rustic communal tennis court, internet bar and highly rated taverna with great sea views are 15 mins walk/2 mins by car.

2 miles away, 10 mins drive, is the pretty resort town of Skala with its pavement cafes and wide selection of restaurants, from traditional Greek Tavernas to Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurants. With 5km of gently shelved shore, pristine sandy beaches, children's play areas, a variety of water sports, scuba diving, plus taxi boats ready to take you to deserted beaches or neighbouring villages, there's plenty to attract all age groups. Of historical interest are the well-preserved Roman mosaic floors at the Roman villa in Skala. Many of the popular excursions around the island start from Skala, such as the island tour and trip to Ithaka.
