Penwill has attracted guests from as far afield as Australia & Canada. Regular guests favour Penwill for its close proximity to the town centre and yet surprisingly quiet location with garage parking and all that Dartmouth has to offer. Popular for families or couples. Outside there are 2 very spacious, safe and secluded decked areas with tables & chairs to relax, catch the sun and enjoy the views. The stable front door leads into the large entrance hallway. Free WIFI.The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen lead off this hall at entrance level. Finished with wooden floors throughout with whitewashed walls and contrasting wood finishing. There are recessed spots in the ceiling and top quality furnishings and extremely comfortable beds. Plenty of storage throughout the property, coat hooks, shoe rack, wardrobes & chest of drawers. The Bath stone clad steps lead down to a spacious living/dining area which has access out to the 'lower deck' where there is a gas BBQ, swingball and fabulous valley views. My husband and I have our own, very demanding event management business and find it impossible to go abroad for holidays. For 4 years, we searched for the perfect spot to create a holiday home to retreat to away from the stresses of daily life. We discovered Dartmouth on a dark, wet January night and knew straight away it was the place to be! Bought Penwill in 2009 as we knew it would be a fabulous holiday home, cosy in Winter and cool in Summer. Spent months renovating, decorating and loved buying gorgeous furniture and accessories to make it a luxurious home from home. Dartmouth has something to offer to everyone at any time of the year. Once there you feel as if you are on a different planet, completely away from the stresses of daily life, it won't take long to adjust to 'Devon time'.

What makes this house unique

Penwill is only 4 minutes walk from the centre, however when you are sitting out in the evening sun enjoying your favourite tipple you would think that you were a million miles from anywhere. The design of the property, makes it a very secluded spot tucked away from the prying, envious eyes of other holidaymakers. South Ford Road is a very quiet road, with no through traffic. The property has its own private garage, which is essential in Dartmouth and saves you driving around for literally hours looking for a space.

Notes on accommodation: This spacious and beautiful holiday home is perfect for families and couples alike. We are proud to say that 80% of our guests are repeat bookings year on year. There is a combi-boiler providing instant hot water with an efficient central heating system which is adjustable in all rooms. The duvets and pillows are all hypoallergenic with warm bed covers available. All the furnishings were chosen for their suitability and are top of the range. most importantly the mattresses are of top quality and there has never been a complaint about a bad nights' sleep!. There are plenty of hangers and storage for suit cases in the property. There is a highchair, bed rail, travel cot and children's 'step', please advise at time of booking if required. Sorry strictly no pets and no smoking. South Ford road is just over 6 feet wide in parts so you might have to fold your wing mirrors in when parking and driving along the road. If you have a very large car ie:Landrover Discovery please ask me for advice. Outside: 2 spacious deck areas on 2 levels with great valley views from the upper deck, which is very secluded and quiet.Teak garden table and chairs on upper level with large parasol. Gas BBQ and swing ball. Outside area catches the sun. There is loads of room to put canoes, bicycles and an outside storage where you can hang wetsuits and store crabbing nets etc. Utility Room: There is a cupboard in the hall which stores the vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board, drying rack and pegs, laundry basket, brush, dust pan and brush. The washing machine is in the kitchen. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels (not beach towels) and linen included. The property is cleaned before each arrival and towels and linen changed weekly if staying more than 7 days. We have a caretaker/manager who lives close by to assist guests should the need arise. Other: The entrance hall is spacious, light and airy with a stable front door. Coat hooks for adults & children alike with a shoe rack. Free wireless broadband is available throughout. There are a selection of DVDs, Wii games,boardgames,books & children's games.

Comfortable and within short walk of the town centre

Pro - Modern, clean, warm and well located property. Lovely to be able to walk into town and take advantage of all the Royal Dart Hotel has to offer! Really nice and quiet. Good to have garage facility but a smaller car than our Volvo S70 would be easier to manoeuvre.

Very well appointed and lovely fluffy towels. Recommend a visit to Singing Kettle, Royal Dart Hotel and Clayton Fishacre National Trust Property.

Con - Steps down to the property and up a steep hill on the way back from the town centre but no trouble if you don't have any health issues.

Beds could be a little softer but would definitately visit again.

Lovely property, ideal location

We really enjoyed our stay at Penwill, it's such a lovely property; very clean, modern decor, but still retains lots of character. The property is a 5-10 minute walk to town where there are several good restaurants and lovely little shops. Perfect base for the weekend and we loved the snug downstairs.

Quite Simply The Best

What a marvelous property to be able to stay in Dartmouth in. Dartmouth itself is a joy - whatever the weather - and Penwill just made the whole week's holiday that much better. Lots of space, clean, tidy and so well equipped that we just could not fault it.

Following the faultless directions, the first approach to the cottage up the narrow road is a bit daunting but once completed, you could do it with your eyes shut (although I wouldn't advise it!) - and the garage you will find is such a bonus!

Lots of games, books and videos to play with including a Wii, and a telly in the bedrooms as well as a large screen in the front room made it more home from home than in reality.

We will be back again so please leave space for us!

Excellent base

We had a wonderful few days in this delightful property, it was so well equipped and looked after and the owner was pleasant and helpful. It was so convenient for the town too, we had some great coffees in the deli in Smith Street.

The narrow road and getting into the garage were a bit of a challenge but fine when you got used to them. We will definitely be back.

TICKED ALL THE BOXES

The purpose of our week away was to rest and to catch up on some of our craft hobbies that we just haven't had the time to do. This cottage was ideal, with a seperate dining/lounge area downstairs we set ourselves up and didn't have to pack it away all the time. Not only is it well equipped with everything you could need it is ideally suited for walking to the shops etc. Many times I was thankful we weren't up the top of the high hills. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was good, all the things that are important. We visited the Bayard Cove inn every morning, with our paper to do the crossword, over a lovely cup of coffee. Alf Resco do a lovely breakfast and the one evening we dined out, we ate at the Royal Castle hotel and had a lovely meal and friendly banter.

The directions and instructions for finding the cottage were excellent thank you and we didn't have any problems parking in the garage. We were so thankful not to have to find a car park.

I would thoroughly reccommend Penwill and with the warmer weather it just lends itself to sitting outside and bbqing.

Wonderful accomodation in Dartmouth

The property is in an excellent location, along a quiet road with a beautiful view over the valley. It is a very high spec property which was very clean and wonderfully set out. Beds were clean and really comfortable. Crockery and gadgets in the accommodation were to a very high standard. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends and relatives. Its just a short walk into Dartmouth with all its lovely restaurants and of course the famous 'Cherub pub' just down the end of the road. A relaxing retreat with everything to make your stay that extra bit special and comfortable.

Changeover Day:
