Villa in Dalyan, Turkey - Quiet location, 15 Minutes Walk to Town

Villa Zeytin is the last of four private villas surrounded by its own flowery garden sharing a stunning architect-designed 50-metre long pool. It overlooks cotton fields and has wonderful views to the mountains behind and to the rock tombs on the far side of the town. There is a large terrace with low traditional seating and a shaded pergola for alfresco meals under a canopy of bougainvilleas. Choose from several different seating areas around the house or by the private steps into the pool. The house is simply and comfortably furnished with local materials and furnishings. The well-equipped kitchen leads to the stone-tiled living room with a fireplace, dining table and low seating. Upstairs there are three air-conditioned bedrooms, two with balconies, and a bathroom. A special feature is the outside shower, ideal for post swim rinsing. Exploring by bike is highly recommended and bikes and scooters can be rented in town. Check out our website for more details, www.villazeytin.co.uk.

About the Owner

We live and work in England. We're both writers - you might see some of our books on the shelves in Villa Zeytin. Our children have grown up and love Dalyan as much as we do and we all try to come every year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My partner and I had a lovely week's holiday at Villa Zeytin. The owner organised a reasonably priced airport pick-up and drop-off which I recommend as a hassle free start to the holiday. The villa manager, Dondu greeted us and was very helpful through out our stay. Super kitchen facilities and there is very effective air-conditioning in the bedrooms. Cleaner came every day. Good Information at the villa about things to do so you can plan your time. There is a lot to do and see in the area so you can just arrive and then decide how relaxing or action packed you want your holiday to be. We used Kaunos Tours for some of our trips.

The villa is about a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Dalyan which can be tiring at the end of a long, hot day but that's what makes the location so quiet and relaxing. We used bikes which is a great way to get around but a taxi is quite a cheap option.

The 50 m shared pool is fabulous and a guy came every day to tend. It is about 2 lanes wide along the length of four villas with each villa having it's own private, circular bit. It's 1.8 metres deep throughout so great for swimming but I wouldn't advise children who can't swim using it.

There is a shaded area at the back, near the pool which we used for eating and generally lying about in - I'm more of a shade bather!

The website images and information were accurate.

This is my second visit to Dalyan, first to this Villa and I would like to return, maybe in spring or autumn next time.

Great Villa with a gorgeous pool.

  • 5 of 5

Villa Zeytin is a lovely villa sharing a gorgeous pool with 3 other villas, which due to its length has ample room for sharing. However, during our stay only 2 of the other villas were occupied for a short time. The villa is comfortable, very clean, well maintained and well equipped with everything you need and had plenty of room for our large family of 6. The housekeeper looking after this property is excellent and the daily tidy up provided was a real treat. We did not do very much on this holiday as the pool was our main entertainment. However, I would recommend hiring some bikes with baskets for exploring and food shopping, these cost 15tl for the first day and 10tl thereafter. The boat trips are also worth investigating we did the classic tour and really enjoyed it, but just be aware that drinks are are an additional cost and must be paid for at the end of the trip. Dalyan is a lovely town with a relaxed holiday vibe, there are lots of restaurants bars and shops to explore. I would also recommend asking the housekeeper to book you a Turkish Bath costing 40tl at the beginning of your stay as this will ensure your tan lasts longer. The one she recommends is the best in Dalyan. It was very hot during our stay but there is a breeze and plenty of shade around the villa which makes it comfortable. The mosquitoes are a problem so do bring loads of repellent with you.

Owner's Response: We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at our villa and made such good use of the pool. With regards to the mosquitoes, we find that if they are around, it's at dusk. We recommend repellent, as you do, and using the mosquito nets at night.

Fantastic villa, one of my favourite holidays

  • 5 of 5

This was not my first visit to villa Zeytin and each year it has always been one of my favourite holidays. The villa is set in a beautiful location with a stunning pool. It is very peaceful and although one of four villas, there is great privacy. The pool is definitely one of the highlights and the villa has its own little inlet to the pool for added privacy. Villa Zeytin is beautifully decorated, very light and clean, with three great sized bedrooms. There is a lovely little patio area where we enjoyed our breakfasts and an evening drink. The area of Dalyan has some wonderful restaurants, Saki on the front by the lake is one of my favourites, incredible Turkish cuisine. It's only a short walk into town or you can also rent bikes. This is definitely one of my favourite holidays, the weather is always beautiful and it is so relaxing. The value of villa Zeytin is really good compared to a lot of other places I've been to so I would definitely recommend a holiday here, I was very impressed.

The delightful Villa Zeytin

  • 5 of 5

Our week stay at the Villa Zeytin and the river port of Dalyan was a wonderfully, relaxing week. The villa, at the end of a quiet cul de sac, facing an open field was a well maintained, comfortable and delightful home. The kitchen had all the essential equipment that one needs and there are plenty of places, inside and out, to sit and relax in or out of the sun. There is a barbeque outside on the shady patio and the clean, clear pool is just a few steps away. Dalyan itself, which stretches along the river, is a charming place with some very good restaurants. And there is plenty to do, up river to the sea (a lovely trip in itself) and the beach or into the nearby large lake. And if you like walking, then you have plenty of picturesque choices from countryside ambles to more demanding hikes! Our week sped by and we enjoyed it immensly and would warmly reccommend it.

Peaceful + relaxing family villa with lovely pool

  • 5 of 5

Villa Zeytin is a lovely and peaceful house in Dalyan. Close enough to walk to everything to be very easy and convenient while far enough away to be nicely relaxing. This part of Turkey really is beautiful and everything is easily accessible from Villa Zeytin which is perfect for a family holiday. Great things to do include visiting the beautiful beaches and diving through crystal clear waters through caves. Snorkelling off (very reasonably priced) boats which can take you for a private sunset dinner cruise where you may even see dolphins (we did!). In addition to the great choice of beaches, a walk up to the ancient ruins of Kaunos and a trip to the hot springs/mud baths are a must. Drinking the homemade pomegranate juice will make you feel brand new. Great restaurants line the waterfront as well. We will hopefully be back soon – this time for 2 weeks not 1 !

Location

From the Owner

We first came to Dalyan twenty-one years ago and though it's grown we still find it a very special place. We don't know anywhere else we've been to that offers such a beautiful beach, a vast unspoilt and protected lake with the chance of seeing turtles and unusual birds on every trip you take, ancient ruins and friendly family restaurants with delicious home-cooked food.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dalaman at 22 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : wide choice at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Wide choice at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Iztuzu at 12 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Iztuzu Beach, a 6km arc of sand, provides beautiful, clean swimming. It is part of the conservation area surrounding Dalyan and is a nesting site for Loggerhead turtles. Turkey's first Turtle Rescue centre has been established at one end, and is open to the public. There are sunbeds and parasols, snacks and changing facilities at both ends. The dolmus public bus runs a regular 20-minute service or you can catch a river taxi from the centre of town. You can explore other beaches by boat or car.

Travel:

Transfer from Dalaman airport takes about 25 minutes and can be arranged by Villa Zeytin. Car rental is available in the town but most visitors find plenty to do in and around Dalyan, taking boat trips, crossing the river by ferry, walking and cycling.

Distances:

The villa is about 15 minutes walk to the centre of town where there is a wide selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other facilities. There are plenty of taxis which offer a fixed price ride within Dalyan. Boat trips upstream to Koycegiz lake and the mud baths and hot springs or downstream to the ancient ruins of Caunos and the open sea can be arranged at the waterfront in the middle of town.

Further Details:

You can take life at a slow pace, swimming and sunbathing and visiting riverside cafes and restaurants for delicious Turkish meals or you can take part in a range of activities from snorkelling and diving to biking, trekking, jeep safaris, riding and white water rafting.

Facilities

From the Owner

Villa Zeytin is at the end of a peaceful track on the edge of town, with superb views, a stunning 50m pool and a peaceful private garden. Guests are really well looked after - as we are - by our wonderful Turkish manager. She is on hand for all arrangements, bookings, advice and for any emergencies that may happen. We have furnished the house as much as possible in the local style, using local materials and goods, both inside and out. Our second shower is an outdoor one, something we particularly enjoy in the summer months.
