Beachside apartment in a quiet development, only 2 min walk from the beach with an excellent chiringuito (restaurant on the beach!!) and the NEWLY beautiful side wall on the beach on wood. Great for family walks and also for children (can use rollers, bikes..). All bedrooms are air conditioned. Sea views from terrace and master bedroom with ensuite (bathroom with bath and wc). Huge balcony by the living room with sea and pool views with outside furniture including sofas, a large table to eat and a side table; and a gas barbecue. Tasteful contemporary furniture including leather settees and plasma TV and DVD. Two further double bedrooms both with 2 x single beds. House bathroom with shower and wc. Fully equipped kitchen. Separate utility with washer dryer and ironing board. A large pool completely renovates. Beautiful manicured grounds. Peaceful location yet within walking distance of all amenities (5 min walk from 2 large supermarkets, many bars, restaurants. Car not essential. A baby cot available.

About Myriem Touhami

My name is Myriem Touhami, a mother of 3 children (10yrs, 7yrs and 3 yrs). I work at the United Nations Environment Programme. I have purchased our summer home in Calahonda in 2009 and we cherish the precious moments we spend there with our children.

My kids love spending part of their summer in Calahonda and for this reason, we try to take care of our house as much as we can.

As a family, we are happy to share our house with other families that like to spend some time in sunny areas.

Why Myriem Touhami chose Sitio de Calahonda

We bought our summer house for our children who love to spend time in Spain, especially in Costa del Sol. As a child, I also spend all my summer holidays in Spain and therefore, I have a special affection for this area.

I love our house because it is very quiet and even in summer time, the pool is usually not very full. It is safe for the kids to play there.

Notes on accommodation: All the bedrooms are air-conditioned. There is a baby cot available. This apartment is quite suitable for children.Ideal for families. Outside: Gas barbecue in the large balcony. 1 x 2 Seater Settee, 1 x 3 Seater Settee and Coffee Table. 4 x Sunloungers for pool area available. Utility Room: In the utility room, there is a wash machine and a dryer. All the necessary equipment for cleaning is available Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and Linen provided but NO beach towels. Apartment thoroughly cleaned prior to and after each letting. This will be changed on a weekly basis. There is a charge of 120 euro to cover this service. This is done by a professional company called Vacations Care. They provide cleaning and all kind of services (services from airport, ect..) Other: Convenient car parking available in the parking area of the development

Location Lovely, However disappointed with apartment

The location of this apartment is great, with nearby access to the beach, shops and places to eat.


1: There are steep steps to the apartment which for one member of our party (nearly 70) this was not easy.

2: The picture of the pool is not a current one, as this now has railings around the pool (we were informed due to Spanish law) and unable to take sun loungers in this area.

3: There were only two sun loungers in the apartment not four as stated in the listing.... these need to be carried to the pool, down the steep steps at the front of the apartment, round to the entrance of the pool area and returned to the apartment every evening. As informed by the complex president, these are unable to stay on the grass overnight. Being a group of seven we therefore laid on beach towels on the grass for the duration of our stay.

4: There are strict rules for the swimming pool (again informed by the complex President) that no balls, inflatables or games are allowed in the pool. This was very closely monitored by the president during our stay.

5: No air conditioning in the main lounge and the units in the bedrooms leaked water when in use, so spent the entire holiday unable to use these, and in the height of the summer, this was quite uncomfortable. Although the owner when contacted was very pleasant, no one came to repair the air con units as promised for our entire stay.

There were a fair few niggles with this apartment, from not enough bath towels for 7 people on arrival and waited 4 days to get these, to little steps outside bedroom doors and on the main balcony that are not noticeable and should have a coloured tape down to avert people tripping and injuring themselves.

6: BBQ was in no fit state to use.

We make the most of our holidays and this is the first time ever Ive written a review on a property, but only because I felt there are items listed here, that should be mentioned in the Owners Listing when selling this apartment to clients.

Owner's Response: I would like to respond to Sharon's comments: 1: For the steps of the apartment, it is indeed clearly mentioned in the advertisement it is a duplex. I will add a picture of the stairs so that people know exactly what they look like. 2: It is right that by Spanish law, it is mandatory to protect the pool and thank God for this as it is for our children's security. I will add a picture of the pool but it is not true that you cannot take sun loungers there. Our neighbours and us always take our sun loungers there. None of my guests have ever complained about this. 3: Unfortunately, many things disappear from the house but we will buy some more sun loungers, as there were only 2 left. Yes it is not possible to leave them on the grass because it destroys the grass and also they can be stolen. It is nice to have a nice garden for the community and if everybody leave their stuff, it will not look nice 4: We have a great community where our president is active and makes sure it is safe, clean and peaceful for everybody. Well my young children (11, 8 and 5) always played in the pool as well as my nephews along with all the people that rented my place in the past. Of course these games should not be dangerous or loud so that it does not disturb the other guests in the residence. Our residence is clean and peaceful and is oriented for families. 5: The air conditioning was repaired and only one air conditioner leaked water out of the 3. Indeed there is no AC on the living room because it opens up to the large terrace. 6. We have 2 BBQ, one indeed is old but the other one is completely new. The main problem with Sharon and her guests is that they were 8 instead of 7 as planned and our professional agent who provides towels to the main hotels in the area, prepares the house for 6. So each person is given one large and one small towel. For the 7th person, I informed the guest in advance that the house is mainly suited and prepared for 6, but if a person is not too picky, they can sleep on the sofa and use their own towels. I wish that this guest could have mentioned that she did not pay me the 2 extra nights that she wanted to add. I wanted to make sure that everything was OK and I went to see her (as I was in Calahonda for 2 days). I was surprised by the number of people in the house. However, she seemed happy except with the AC prb. . For the small inconveniences she experienced I offered her one extra night but never paid me the other one

Absolutely beautiful duplex apartment in a well maintained area.

I have just returned from a four night break at this beautiful apartment. First off the map is incorrect as this location is only a two minute walk from the beach. There was 6 ladies in total ranging from 40 to 70 and the apartment was perfect for our needs. The interior was beautiful and no expense was spared on the furnishings which were in perfect condition. The balcony was huge and even in November the sunshine was fantastic and we spent hours chatting and relaxing out in the sun there. An amazing boardwalk just a few minutes walk away and a beautiful restaurant on Luna Beach (about ten mins walk down the boardwalk) which we visited twice. The food there was fab and we hired the loungers for 5euros and had cocktails and food while listening to live entertainment on the beach! We visited La Cala which is about 10 mins taxi drive away which was recommended to us by a group we met in a local bar. That was a fab spot which was very busy even for November. The drinks there were a lot cheaper than our area and the area was spotless and safe also. I would definitely recommend this apartment if your looking for a relaxing break away from it all. The apartment is spotless and big and has everything you need to enjoy a break away. Local shop Lidl is about ten mins walk away and McDonalds is two mins away also. Thanks again. Sarah xx

Absolutely Fabulous

7 of us girls wanted 4 days chilled time away with a bit of nightlife, our ages ranged from 25 to 40 years old. We flew into malaga and the accommodation was about 30/40 mins away by taxi. The address could not be found on the sat navigation but we managed to get there. The accommodation sleeps 8 although 2 of these are single mattresses on the floor. I would say being 7 girls it was plenty of space or for a family but would more comfortably be suited to 6 adults. The duplex had everything we needed and we were able to pay for an internet dongal which was portable. The complex has a wonderful communal pool and is immediately on the beach with a lovely walk way around to some restaurants and bars. The complex is called vacation care and mainly retired/older residents whilst we were there. It meant it was lovely and quiet during the day. The beach is narrow and very clean with beautiful shells and stones, we spent the day here and paid 6 euros for a beach bed with mattress and that included a free drink per person... amazing! We found Las Rocas Beach bar which was a 10 minute walk to the left side ran by Karen, Andy and Andys Dad who we nick named Don. They were very friendly, Welcoming with excellent customer service. The food was great and a very good standard and food and drink extremely reasonably priced. We went here atleast once a day!

Along the main road of calahonda there is a bus service, you can pick up taxi very easily, restaurants and bars, supermarket, postoffice etc.

Incredible Korean restaurant called hanori with divine food, beautiful setting and excellent customer service!

We visited Feungurola and had good food on fish alley.

We visited some great clubs in Puerto Banus, funky Buddha and seven were great from midnight onwards, drinks were expensive so started at sky bar which was a bit if a dive however 15 euro for all you can drink for an hour followed by a bottle of vodka with mixer for the group to share so we did this before hitting the clubs. Taxi to Puerto Banus was about 40 euro.

All in all fabulous location if you like quiet by day with option to venture out for nightlife. Great apartment and we didn't experience a bad meal the entire holiday with no complaints what so ever!

Will definitely be going back and would do as a family or friends!

Calahonda beach is less than 2 min walk and the city has just finished opened the side walk on the beach taking you from Mijas beach to Cabopino beach. Pictures used are views from our balcony. Great chiringuito (beach bar/restaurant) on the beach near the apartment (with great fish food and paella). Cabopino beach is 15 min walk away and the beach is known for its golden sands, beautiful port, water sports and great selection of chiringuitos (beach bars) and restaurants.


Airport of Malaga is 30 min from the house by car. Taxis and car rental are available at the airport


Marbella 7 miles, Puerto Banus 8 miles.

Only 25 min drive from Malaga airport

Many bars and restaurants are 5 min walk along with local supermarkets. Nearby, all amenities (taxis, bus stops, beach, car hire, bars, banks, restaurants).

Further Details:

Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance, together with all amenities.Marbella is a 10 min drive away with great shopping and beautiful Old town. Fuengirola is only a 12-15 min drive away with its great Zoo, Aqua Park and Lively Nightlife. Selwo Adventure Park is just 30 min away in Estepona. A must has to be the world famous Puerto Banus 15 min away with its designer shops, bars and restaurants. Other places of interest all around 30 minutes away are, Rhonda, Mijas, Benhavis, Benalmadena, Malaga.
