4 Star Woodland Hideaway, Only 5 Miles From Bournemouth - Accessibility M2 V1 H1

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Nov-2016
Chalet in Ferndown, Nr. Bournemouth, Dorset, England - Stunning Views of Local Countryside

Nature’s lover’s secret hideaway, Birchcroft nestles at the end of a winding lane, surrounded by rhododendron bushes in over an acre of land, enjoying walks into the local woodland. This beautiful chalet bungalow offers ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms and is large enough for 2 families. All rooms are of a good size with a particularly large lounge. Step onto the ample terrace and enjoy breathtaking views of the local landscape with Longham lakes in the distance. Wild life including deer, foxes, rabbits and many species of birds are often seen in the garden. For the children there is a large rear garden laid to lawn but the boundaries are unsecured and lead directly into 19 acres of woodland. Though secluded, Birchcroft is only 5 miles from Bournemouth beaches and all the town’s facilities, has an ample supply of excellent pubs and restaurants in walking distance, as well as many well known golf courses (Parkstone, Ferndown, Isle of Purbeck). 4 star rating. Accessibility M2, H1.

About the Owner

I live locally and so can easily be available for advice on local amenities, restaurants, pubs, etc. If problems arise I can sort them out for you - from doctors to garages to plumbers or baby sitters. Nothing is too much trouble - just ring me on my mobile. I am married with 4 children and was born and bred in Bournemouth. I am a member of Bournemouth Tangent No1, the wife of a former member of Round Table. I ensure that my holiday homes are of the standard that I would require should I be staying there, in fact Birchcroft was my family home and Amelia House was my grandfather's house. Our beach hut has been in the family for nearly 30 years, though it has been renewed I hasten to add. Leslie House is a new acquisition and we have totally re-vamped it, adding en-suites to each bedroom.

Great few days. Lovely setting and kids had a great time in the garden and woods, as weather was cold but dry. House was very good – loved the log fire!! Would definitely recommend and come again. Feb 09. Date: May 21, 2010. Review by - Marion, Peter, Rosaline & Newy. We had a wonderful second visit. The house is extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean with all the comforts of home and the grounds that the house stands on have to be seen to be believed. The wild life and scenery is breathtaking. The land is teeming with rabbits, squirrels, foxes and many varieties of bird life. The Birchcroft TV was utterly amazing and we felt humbled in being able to watch the baby Blue Tits in their nest with both parents popping in and out but especially the Mother who was kept busy all day long and snuggling down with her babies at night. We made the most of the veranda where we could relax all day long. Mrs Hall and her team were only a phone call away for help or advice."

We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything we needed was there. .

  • 4 of 5

The house was very comfortable and the garden with the wildlife was appreciated by both adults and children Everything we wanted was provided. Our only problem was the very steep and narrow staircase and also the problem with the shower.

However we were extremely grateful for your extra help with the cake.

Wonderful House made a wonderful xmas

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house and beautiful surroundings. Firstly the grounds are big and there is so much wildlife to watch. The house itself is spacious and well equipped with everything you need. My family and I spent a wonderful Christmas here and Sonia the owner decorated the house beautifully with all Christmas decorations. We had a wonderful two weeks and did not want to leave. I would recommend this place to stay at any time of the year. It's so peaceful.

Lovely weekend break

  • 5 of 5

We booked Birchcroft for a weekend break with friends and found it to be comfortable and well equipped. It was an ideal house to stay in with children - they loved the TVs in their rooms and the huge garden. The house, and inparticular the kitchen, was well equipped - with everything we needed for a relaxing break. A welcome pack of goodies was waiting for us and there was milk in the fridge for a much needed cup of tea when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and the towels and linen were good quality. The location is great - we explored Christchurch and Hengisbury Head during the weekend.

A great place to stay!

"The best house ever"

  • 5 of 5

This was what my granddaughter said on our first day in the house. It was our second visit and once again we really enjoyed our stay. We find this holiday home very welcoming and comfortable. It is great for our son who is in a wheelchair. Also it has everything we need, wifi to please my husband and a washing machine with a tumble drier to please me. There is also lots to do in the area. We really enjoyed our break.

Location

From the Owner

Birchcroft was built by my father in 1968 and has always been owned by a member of my family. I took it over in about 2000 and looked after it for my mother who still lived in it aged 94! After her death I renovated the property and it looks as you see it today. We are now in our 12th season and have several return guests each year. With its stunning views and woodland setting, it is the ideal place to relax though the bustling centre of Bournemouth with its golden beaches is only 5 miles away. Amelia House was built by my grandfather in 1912 and has remained in the family ever since. We also let this property via Home-Away.
