My name is Maria Luisa. I've been spending a great part of my life in this area of Tuscany, which I know very well. The houses which I offer for rent are part of a country estate which belonged to my mother's family. Since I inherited the property I've been spending time and money to restore them and decided to rent them out in order to maintain them in good shape and pass them to my children and grandchildren in the future.
I love this job. It gives me the opportunity of meeting knew people who sometimes become good friends and like visiting us year after year.

We (two adults and three kids) stayed two weeks in La Casaccia this summer.
To start out with, the dialogue with the owner, Marie Luisa, was extremely good - fast responses and very informative. Maria Luisa also stopped by to ask us if everything was as should be.
We found the apartment as described. It is very old, rustique and very cozy. Three good bedrooms and a nice living room with dining area. The kitchen has what you need for cooking.
From the windows - and the garden - you have wonderful views of the Tuscan mountains. The apartment shares a pool with a few other apartments, but never gets crowded. It is cleaned early every morning.
We made day trips to many places; Firenze, Lucca, etc. It is easy to drive to one of the villages nearby and take the train to Firenze. You will find several good restaurants nearby. We recommend following the house guide.
The drive up from Londa to La Casaccia is a bit rough; narrow and steep - and requires full attention, also to cattle, sheep, etc!
We recommend La Casaccia if you enjoy peace and quiet and superb views of a wonderful countryside.
This is surely a place we will be coming back to year after year. Maria Luisa was a generous and kind host and accommodated our two families who were meeting from Sydney and London. It is the Tuscany you didn't expect.
The villa has a quaint, rustic charm and you feel a connection with the glorious surroundings. The mountains, trees and 360 degree views of untamed nature add to everyone being in holiday mode very quickly. The villa has an elegant simplicity to it, and with a baby and two small children it was easy to manage.
The local restaurants are wonderful and easy to get to - and Maria Luisa has many suggestions for day trips and special places to visit. We had a lovely day trip to Florence too.
So we will be back and can't wait for our next visit.
The house, garden, pool and local area were all fabulous. It is a great place if you have children and if you don't. We will definitely return. Maria Luisa was the perfect host.
We were lucky to stay at La Casaccia for 3 weeks in September 2014. It is a peaceful sanctuary, located up in the wooded mountains just (5km) above the delightful town of Londa. The location is idyllic. Although part of 3 dwellings, during our stay, because of the layout of La Casaccia and the other properties, we didn't really see or hear neighbours.
La Casaccia is 300 years old and so I'd describe it as comfortably rustic, of stone construction with flagstones throughout. Maria Luisa makes lovely touches and on arrival there were fresh flowers and a few provisions, enough for tea, coffee and some sustenance. Figs, rosemary and lots of other species are growing in the garden. And there are comfortable beds!
The garden is private with 2 seating areas (one just outside the front door and one in the main garden area), barbecue and hammocks. The main garden and seating/barbeque area offers a view down the valley towards the village. The local village is where Italians live. It isn't a tourist area but authentically Italian. It was lovely to drive down, have coffee and croissants in the bar (2 cappuccinos and a croissant or cake for 3.5 euros!) and watch the world go by. Then buy local produce from the local shops, go back to the house and have lunch/dinner (we kept saying 'this is the life')
The location is within easy reach of loads of places to visit: Florence (1 hour), Lucca (1.5 hours), Sienna and Arezzo (1.5 hours). Driving along the Chianti road to Sienna is also a fabulous experience. If you do this, I'd recommend driving through Greve and then stopping at a vineyard for lunch al fresco. In addition to the main places to visit, we loved Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and Cortona.
Finally, Maria Luisa, the owner is a perfect host, she knows and has lived in the area for a long time and is always available if needed, without interfering.
What a find. La Cassacia is a wonderful villa built in the 1500s. It has fantastic period features but at the same time has everything you need for a self catering holiday. It is peaceful and tranquil. Everywhere was very clean. The bedrooms are charming and very comfortable.
The location is breath-taking; surrounded by wooded mountains and olive groves. Sitting under a vine covered gazebo you can watch the sun setting over the hills and valleys from the outside dining area while the fireflies put on light show! The pool was much appreciated. One of the most mazing settings we've ever been swimming. There are plenty of sun loungers as well amongst the olive trees.
There are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. We easily did Florence within the hour. The village of Londa just down the hill is charming and is well supplied with shops and there are a couple of places to eat as well.
Maria was most welcoming and helpful. I recommend that you take advantage of the tour Maria give of the family's oil mill in Londa. The oil and wine tasting at the end is a bonus!
We had the most fantastic stay. The children were impressed with the villa and the presence of the pool ensured they were never bored.
Our family (2 kids, 9 & 17) spent 2 (& a bit!) lovely weeks at La Casaccia this summer. The villa is in a beautiful setting in the Sieve valley. The valley is quite wooded but the villa is set in an open area, surrounded by olive groves and with lovely views. As advertised it is no frills accommodation. It was clean and tidy and more than adequate for our stay. There are 3 bedrooms - main double bedroom (fantastic view!), another double (poss3/4 size) and a third bedroom with twins that can be pushed together for a further double. This is a 16th (I think) century property that has been renovated and you could feel the history in it. Lovely cool stone flagged floors in main areas, beamed ceilings and huge inglenook fireplace. Kitchen perfectly adequate - effective gas hob and electric oven, washer and fridge. There is a lovely garden - at any point between the sun coming up and going down there was always some shade and some sun. Paved area with chairs & tables, hammock, large dining table, bbq and grassed area. As public pools in Italy are v. dear - e10 per person - a pool was a priority and we were pleased to find an affordable villa with a pool. The pool was a short (1 min) walk from the villa. The pool and surrounding area are kept v clean and tidy. The listing says shared pool but we never had a problem with it being busy as people tended to go down at different times of day. We met some nice families at the pool and people were very thoughtful as regards not letting kids go wild etc. The owner, Maria-Luisa, is very friendly, speaks excellent English and was always on hand to answer any queries. She offers a tour round her familiy's olive oil mill - very worthwhile. Londa itself is not a main tourist area (plus for us!) albeit only a short way from Florence. The village has 2 good supermarkets, a greengrocer, butcher, chemist & a general store that sold everything! There was also a friendly bar - Bar Il Ponte, which had a nice deli as well. There are several places to eat - we went to Da Fishio several times and also the Pizzaria near the bridge both good food - around e55 for meal for 4 including steak & pastas, drinks (only main course) Lots to do in area - Florence, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca. If you are want simple, honest accommodation in an amazing setting with lots to see I would definitely recommend La Casaccia. We changed our plans and stayed on an extra 2 days as we were enjoying ourselves so much
