About Ann Fee

Our family have lived in France for over 8 years. Our dream was to buy a property with panoramic views and we were so lucky to have the dream come true.

Our aim is for people who visit to relax, unwind, and to have the best holiday in Brittany possible in our gite. Everyone who has visited have gone back to the UK relaxed and not wanting to leave - this being our priority for everyone who visits.

Ann Fee purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Ann Fee chose Callac area

The gite is located in the most stunning romantic setting with panoramic views over a valley and forest in the distance. Our idea for the gite is to provide a "home from home" for anyone who visits.

What makes this cottage unique

Our hot tub overlooks the views - a perfect place to drink a glass of champagne - available for use throughout the year. The sunsets from the hot tub are wonderful with the hawks flying in the valley. Gazing up at the stars at night, no light pollution, stunning to see - a must for all visitors, especially with a glass of cold bubbly - what more do you need to relax?

People in Brittany love walking and the walks available whether it be from outside the gite, or an hour away are fantastic. The gite is located in a brilliant location - a walkers paradise.

The gite is in such a quiet location, but you can get shopping within a 10 minute radius, and beaches just over 40 minutes away.

Our hot tub is a must.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Viv & Ash - Your gite was so welcoming and comfortable in every way, the views are fantastic & to die for. Thank you for making our stay so special. We have both decided we will return to the gite next year without a shadow of a doubt.

Will & Mandy - What a wonderful gite! Very much a home from home and set in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and slept so deeply because of it. Carry on doing what you are doing because we will be back. x.

Our guest book has loads of brilliant comments, I selected just a couple. The book is worth reading when you arrive to find out what other visitors have thought and where they have explored.

Brittany's best kept secret, exceptional!

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully appointed gite, spotlessly clean and really comfortable, the photographs on the website really do not do it justice. It certainly has the "wow factor" from the moment you walk through the door. It is the gite that has everything, including a beautiful hot tub where you can sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the beauty of the view or the night sky. The owners are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. They have good local knowledge and readily recommend places to visit, things to do and will happily book restaurants for you. This is certainly the best gite we have rented in France and would certainly recommend it to friends and relatives. We cannot wait to return.

Absolutely Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

The most wonderful Gite. Very well appointed fully equipped & extremely comfortable. The owner met us in Callac & we followed her back to the gite. One night she even cooked dinner for us & supplied a bottle of wine. Fantastic rural surroundings & view. Heaven, sat in a hot tub in paradise!

Beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish this was by far a beautiful cottage with a beautiful view. The welcome and hospitality pack we received was 5 star. During our stay the spices and rhubarb from the garden were very well received. The hot tub was a big plus and our stay was so relaxing we are hoping to come back next year. Overall a fantastic property to relax and unwind.

Ideal for getting away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Our third visit in four years reminded us of why we keep coming back: the beautiful surroundings, the comfortable gite, the peace and quiet, the hot tub (a must at sunset when the stars begin to come out), the amazing owners, Ann and Mike, who make you feel so much at home - all this and the rest of Brittany to explore. And then there's Sally and Oscar - dog and cat respectively - who visit the gite regularly and almost demand you pay them attention, which thankfully is a pleasure. Each time we've been there has been a wonderful experience, made all the more wonderful by being able to spend time with Ann and Mike (who are really lovely, genuine people and make you feel so welcome) and their two children. The gite is always clean and tidy, and the recently added sofas are soooooo comfortable, making it a difficult choice between bed, sofa and hot tub when it comes to relaxing. There's a patio area that offers panoramic views of Duault forest, plenty of little villages and towns to visit, as well as beautiful beaches only an hour away to the north, south and west. But as a base for any travelling, the Gite de Fees is hard to beat, and we're already looking forward to going back next year. Chest magnifique!

Best Gite ever

  • 5 of 5

Totally spoilt now, this is the best gite we have ever stayed in. Comfortable, spacious, modern, clean and everything you could wish for. The Hot Tub was pure luxury, a place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day exploring the coast.

Ann and Mike are a wonderful couple, on hand to give any advice regarding shopping, sightseeing etc.

There are so many places to visit both inland and coastal that one week was not enough, sometimes it was just nice to sit in the garden and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet.

We did visit Lake Guerladen, which was drained this year to reveal the old houses and church that were there before the lake was made, it is a lovely long walk round but there are plenty of refreshments. Tregastel is a lovely seaside place with an Aquarium and several restuarants overlooking the beach, we had steak and mussels at one of them. Perros-Guirec is a short drive from Tregastel, busier with a lovely beach, restuarants and bars.

Just under an hours drive will take you to Binic, (recommended by Ann and Mike) there are two beaches, one round near the harbour and one in front of the town, we sat and watched a Boules match in the sun and had a drink at one of the many cafes/restuarants that line the harbour, a lovely afternoon, then back to the Hot tub.

Huelgoat, go when the market is on, have a drink in the market square then explore the woods and caves and find the theatre in the woods, sit and have lunch by the lake, wonderful.

So much to see and do, will hopefully return one day, Ann, Mike & family, thanks for making our holiday so perfect.

Location

From the Owner

The gite is located in the most stunning romantic setting with panoramic views over a valley and forest in the distance. Our idea for the gite is to provide a "home from home" for anyone who visits.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Stunning private fishing lake available for carp fishing. A perfect location to relax. A must for all Anglers!

Walking and cycling are extremely popular activities in Brittany. There are cycling routes for all levels of cyclists, whether riding up to Duault forest, or a gentle cycle along the Nantes / Brest canal. Brittany is a walkers paradise, along the coasts, forests, Nantes canal, beaches or even from the gite. A brilliant way to appreciate Brittany.

Huelgoat is a beautiful town, only 25 minutes drive from the gite, for walking and cycling. A lake to walk and cycle round, or a forest full of huge rocks and cave to explore. A must to visit.

Lake Guerladan - a walkers paradise, a go on a pedalo, or swimming in the lake by the man made beach. The lake was drained in 2015 (every 10 years). A lovely few hours can be spent there even if not a walker. There are restaurants etc.

Coast/Beach:

Beautiful quiet beaches are within a 40 minute drive, and the famous pink granite coast is well worth a visit.

Binic is a beautiful little town, with restaurants offering alfresco dining in the streets.

There are beautiful beaches all along the coast with little towns to explore - a list of recommended beaches - as long as your arm. From Dinard all the way down to Quiberon - every beach with its own special views and treasures. Every day can be filled with exploring!

Travel:

The gite is within easy reach of ports and airports: St Malo ferry port 2 hours. Roscoff ferry port 1 hour. Dinard airport 2 hours. Brest airport 1½ hours. Car hire is easily available from the airports, with many offers available. Discounts are available on Brittany Ferries (UK / France routes only) when booking the gite.

Distances:

The local village of Locarn is a 2 minute drive away where you can get a baguette or a delicious lunch in the brand new bar / restaurant.

The market town of Callac is 10 minutes drive away, with its bars, cafes, supermarkets and restaurants. The market days in the local towns are great to visit, with local cheeses, breads and much more to try. Carry on to a beach in the afternoon for the sea, sun and total relaxation.

Further Details:

There are some lovely restaurants even just 10 minutes away for an evening out, detail of opening times are available on your arrival.
