Lavender Barn was originally built in 1750 and recently reconstructed using its original hand cut Norfolk carstone and chalk. The Barn is wonderfully presented and superbly equipped to offer an idyllic hideaway for you to relax in real luxury and enjoy the dramatic Norfolk Coastline and beautiful local area. Every attention to detail has been taken to offer a delightful venue equally suited for couples and families. The sea shore is just 2 miles away and offers long flowing sandy beaches, and is great for water sports such as kite surfing and sailing. Lavender Barn is also perfectly placed for you to experience some of the UK's best bird watching at the RSPB reserves of Snettisham and Titchwell. The local area is steeped in medieval history - with Sandringham and Castle Rising a short walk away. Burnham Thorpe - the birthplace of Norfolk's most famous son Lord Horatio Nelson is also within easy reach. The stately homes of Houghton, Holkham and Sandringham are close by.

About the Owner

We are a young Norfolk family who originate from Norwich but moved to Dersingham in 2000.

We moved to West Norfolk due to my husbands work and love the combination of quiet village life and having the beauty of the countryside and coast on our door step.

We have two children and two westie puppies, all growing up fast! Now seemed the perfect time to embrace a challenge and start up a new business.

We welcome you to what we feel is a perfect venue for a relaxing getaway although we still have Norwich and Cambridge both within an hour's drive to enjoy the bustle and attractions of city life.

Wow! - We tend to do about 3 holidays a year & stay all over the UK. I can honestly say this is the very best cottage we had the pleasure of staying in The place is spotless & has everything one needs. The welcome pack is an excellent touch

Christmas 2011

What a Place ! - We spent Christmas at Lavender barn with our 2 sons aged 4 & 8 & I can say with certainty that this is THE BEST property we have ever rented. The property is exactly as the pictures show & with some nice Christmas surprises too. The Welcome pack was the best we have ever seen. You should stay here ! We will be back & cant wait !

In 2009 we have reconstrcuted the old barn in our garden to provide a wonderful holiday venue. We have a website where you can view all of the barns style & quality. We are nestled in the quiet West Norfolk village of Dersingham on the outskirts of the Royal Sandringham Estate. We are in an area of outstanding natural beauty and ideally located close to the heritage West Norfolk coast; famous for long sandy beaches; its RSPB bird reserves and the many historical sites and stately homes. We are uniquely placed to enjoy some of the best links golfing and close to the sea for trips to visit the seals and in a great venue for family outings; also walking and cycling. We are well placed for you to sample some of the regions best acclaimed pubs & restaurants.

Special interest holidays:

Bird Watching - Lavender Barn is ideally located for the RSPB reserves at Snettisham and Titchwell; and we can arrange field trips to the reserves as well as the acclaimed reserves at Blakeney Point and Cley marshes; and Welney Wetlands Trust. Pensthorpe Reserve near Fakenham is also only 30 minutes away.


We are 2 miles from the beach; RSPB reserve coast walks and sailing at Snettisham. The coast line continues to the sandy beaches of Heacham 5 miles and to the seaside town of Hunstanton 8 mles. Beyond Hunstanton the coast opens out to an area of outstanding natural beauty through to Holme, Thornham and around to Brancaster, Holkham, Wells and Blakeney Point


The nearest Airports are Norwich 1 hour drive and Stansted 1.5 hours drive.

We are in the centre of the village and have all local amenities such as supermarket, post office, newsagent butchers and cash point. Hunstanton is 8 miles away with banking facilities and a wider selection of shops. Kings Lynn is 8 miles and includes all high street shops cinema and theatre and many restaurants. Nearest petrol station is c 5 miles. We are on the outskirts of the royal Sandringham Estate.

This can be paid by cheque or BACS. We also require £100 security deposit which is returned within 10 days of departure date, provided there are no damages or breakages.

Changeover Day:
Arrival time from 3.30pm and we ask you to vacate by 10am. Friday Change over with mid week and weekend stays available.

On arrival enter through the portcullis gates and into the granite & travertine courtyard.Entering the barn you are greeted by a spacious and welcoming lounge with its centre piece - a unique brick fireplace and cathedral wood burner.The lounge opens up with feature frame, vaulted ceiling, oak beams and oak staircase - all keeping the barn light airy, warm and welcoming. The lounge is comfortably equipped with fine sofa and seating, a 32'' TV/DVD . Broadband is also available. The kitchen and dining areas offer a fully fitted oak kitchen which is packed full with all the home from home needs. The barn character continues with a butler sink and double oven Falcon range cooker and Wok. A real wow for the budding chef ! The dining area features fine leather seating and on arrival you will find a welcome pack with our compliments To the rear of the dining area is a separate toilet and washing machine room. Outside: We have a south facing courtyard style garden with 6 chairs and two tables along with a BBQ. A perfect way for you to relax and enjoy the big Norfolk skies Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury Egyptian cotton linen and towels are provided. The property is cleaned and linen changed on a Friday for weekly occupation and on a Monday / Friday for midweek and week end stays.
